Hi all! Today I want to tell you how to make a phone case from wood. There are three ways: cut on a CNC machine, glue from parts cut on a laser machine, and make it yourself using carpentry tools. The latter method is more accessible, and will be discussed further.

To make it, you will need a wooden block slightly larger than the size of your phone.

Saw off two thin plates from it

then cut the sides a little thicker than the phone

and glue the parts with wood glue

After 24 hours, the glue will polymerize and you can begin processing.

I won’t describe all the intricacies of carpentry, since everyone has their own approach to the job and different tools.

I got three at once :)

For the one I liked better, I made a leather clasp with a sewn-in neodymium magnet,

and sunk a magnet into the body with an arc and glued it to Poxipol.

Paper case

The simplest and most budget-friendly option for you might be a case made of paper. Its assembly will not take much time; it is made using a simple origami technique. This, of course, will not last a long time, but if you urgently need a case, then this option will be excellent. Let's take a look at the step-by-step instructions.

You will need:

A4 sheet of paper
PVA glue

Progress:

Place a sheet of paper horizontally with your phone on top of it.
Now wrap the phone in paper until the end of the sheet.
Wrap the lower part several times to the place where the phone is located.
Now, to make the bend hold better, bend the triangles upward, at the bottom of the cover.
If you need a stronger structure, use glue to seal the folds and joints. Our paper case is ready.

Cover made of rubber bands

A phone in a case made of rubber bands will look very original. Such a case will require time and patience from you, but the result will delight you and surprise your friends and even strangers. We have prepared step-by-step instructions for iPhone 5, but for other smartphones you just need to take a different number of rubber bands. So, let's start making crafts with our own hands step by step.

You will need:

Rubber bands of 3 colors - 500 pcs.
Hook
Weaving machine

Progress:

There should be 2 rows on the machine. The holes in the top row should face left, and the bottom row should face right.
We begin to put on the rubber bands from the top row of the second pin, and put it on the cross on the 3rd row of the bottom.
Next, we put a cross on a cross from the 2nd bottom row to the 3rd pin of the top row.
In the same way we make the next one from the 3rd pin from above to the lower 4th. And then from the lower 3rd to the upper 4th.
There should be 3 crosses like this.
Pass 2 pins in the center and continue to weave 4 more such crosses. On this side you should get 4 crosses intersecting each other.
There should be 2 free pins left along the edges of the machine.
The next row is to put rubber bands on the top and bottom pins that are opposite.
So we put it on all the pins of the previous row.
Turn the machine vertically towards you so that the top pins point their heads towards you.
We put on the first elastic band without crossing it on one upper and one lower part.
We fasten the remaining rubber bands, without crossing them, along the top row, one after another. In this row we are not missing the two middle pins.
We do the bottom row in the same way, connecting it on the second side with an elastic band, just like we started the row. It turns out that we walked one row in a circle.
Starting from the bottom row, we use a hook to remove two rubber bands from each pin, which are located at the very bottom. We skip the middle pins. Thus, there should be two rubber bands left on each pin on the machine.
We do the next row in the same way as the 3rd, in a circle, one elastic band after another. For this row we take rubber bands of a different color.
Next, remove the bottom 2 loops in a circle.
We put the elastic bands on again in a circle, using a different color, and then remove the bottom loops.
In the same way, we make two more rows alternating colors. One row means putting the loops on once and then taking them off.
Let's start making a hole for the screen. Turn the machine vertically, the left row of bayonets should be facing you.
We start working in the left lane. We remove the bottom rubber band from the 3rd pin and put it on the next 4th one. Thus, the last loop should transfer to the 7th pin.
Now remove the remaining loop from the middle 5 pins. There should be 3 pins on each side with rubber bands on.
We knit the next row in the usual way (elastic band by elastic band). We do this clockwise, starting from the 3rd working pin. We are not working with five pins on one side yet.
We need to remove the lower rubber bands; there should be 2 loops left on the pins.
In the same way we need to knit 11 more rows. Don't forget to alternate colors.
Next we knit the row clockwise, now filling in all the pins.
Remove the bottom rubber bands from the pins. But we don’t remove the five who were not previously involved in this row.
In the row where there are unknitted pins, we skip two workers and from the third we remove the lowest loop and put it on the next pin. We do this, leaving only the last 2 free.
Now knit one row.
Take the machine vertically and, along the right row, remove the bottom loop from the second working pin and put it on the next bayonet.
The last loop should be placed over the 4th working pin.
Now we remove the lower loops from the 3rd and 2nd.
Next, we put on the loops in a circle, leaving our 2 free. Then remove the bottom hinges.
On the next row we put on rubber bands, using all the pins. We remove the loops in the usual way, without touching only the two pins, where there are only 2 rubber bands.
On the first pin we swap the top and bottom loops and transfer the top one to the next pin, connecting our structure. From the next two pins we remove one bottom loop and transfer it to the next pin.
Next we knit the row in the usual way.
We begin to close our case. We make a row of crosses as at the very beginning, without missing a single pin.
We make the next row with crosses between opposite pins.
Next, we begin to remove the lower loops, leaving only the rubber bands from which we made figure eights. There should be 3 loops left on each pin.
Now we transfer the bottom loop of each pin to the next one.
We also do the next row.
On the right side, use an additional elastic band to make a knot and remove the cover from the machine.
Now straighten the protruding loops and hide the knot. Now you can use this original case.

Hot glue bumper case

Using a gun and hot glue, you can make a beautiful bumper phone case. It looks very interesting and unusual. And its originality depends only on your imagination. Such a cover can be openwork or simply with a flat surface and patterns.

You will need:

Glue gun
Nail polish
Parchment paper
Scotch

Progress:

Cover the phone with parchment paper so that the back and sides of the phone are seamless. Secure the joints in the screen area with tape.
Mark the places where the buttons, camera and sockets are located.
Now use hot glue to go along the sides of the phone and highlight the designated areas along the contour.
Make a swirl pattern on the back of the phone so that it connects to the side.
Wait for everything to dry and paint it in the desired color with nail polish.
Now you can put a beautiful case on your phone.

Balloon phone case

A very simple way to make a phone case with your own hands is to use a regular balloon. This case will not protect you from impacts, but will help keep your smartphone dry. Let's see step-by-step instructions with photos and video descriptions of how to make a phone case from a ball.

Progress:

Inflate the balloon, do not tie it.
Place your phone with the screen facing up on top of the ball.
Now, pressing the phone into the ball, gradually deflate it.
When there is little air left, release the ball while continuing to press the phone.
The ball will fit around the phone and the case is ready. You can also take a ball with some kind of muzzle or design, then your phone will become more original.

Phone case

A book case will require additional costs, but you can choose the color and shape of such a case yourself. It can protect your smartphone or phone from damage if it is kept closed. The shape of such a case has a special charm, because the cover can have absolutely any design.

You will need:

Phone-sized notepad with elastic band
Stationery knife
Ruler
Pencil
Narrow elastic band
Cardboard

Progress:

Using a knife, cut out the notepad sheets and side parts.
Divide one side in half and mark with a pencil.
Cut with a knife along the line to the outer grain of the cover.
Now in this place you need to cut a strip about 0.5 cm wide so that later it will be easy to make a fold here.
Carefully glue the inside sides of the cover with glue.
Draw a shape for the inside of the cover along the outline of the cover on felt.
Place our felt blank on the inside of the cover and cut the felt along the side fold.
Glue the felt blank to the cover.
On a piece of cardboard, outline the phone and cut along the line. Glue it to the felt and cut it according to the shape, retreating from the cardboard to 1 cm.
Cut the felt at the corners with two cuts on each side so that you can bend it. Glue the corners.
Glue two rubber bands across this blank so that you can then attach the phone here.
Glue the blank onto the outer bending half.
Now our case is ready for use.

Cardboard case

A cardboard cover does not require additional costs, and is made from improvised materials that are found in almost every home. The case will have a neat and pleasant appearance. Now let's get started with the craft with step-by-step instructions.

Sheet of cardboard

Progress:

Draw the phone on the cardboard twice with a gap of 0.5 cm between them.
Cut along the outline.
Make two folds along the lines in the center of the workpiece, the case is almost ready.
Now glue one side of the case to the back of the phone.
To make the case close, you can put a thin elastic band on it, or make holes in the sides of the sides of the case and attach a ribbon or rope.

Felt phone case

Progress:

Place the phone on the felt, and stepping back from the edge of the phone about 1 cm, trace the outline. We need 2 of these blanks.
Sew both pieces together using an outside seam.
Now you need to make a decoration for the case. We cut out balloons in the form of drops from different flowers.
We also cut out a house from felt, windows and a door from the same.
Using a glue gun, attach the house to the bottom of the cover.
Now use dotted threads to embroider the threads for the balls.

Acrylic paints

Using a stencil, cut out two identical blanks the size of the phone, with wavy edges.
On one of the blanks, draw SpongeBob's face.
Cut out blanks for pants from colored paper and glue them onto the blank with a muzzle.

Leather case

Another option for a phone case is to make it from leather. You don’t have to go and buy leather in a store, just find an old leather item and use it for this craft. This case is reliable and looks high quality, and no one will guess that you didn’t buy it.

You will need:

Piece of leather
Clamps
Scissors
Cardboard template
Thick thread
Gypsy needle - 2 pcs.
Eyelet installation pliers
Pen
Decorative thread
Eglets - 2 pcs.

Progress:

First, measure the parameters of your phone. Add 1 cm to the length and 2 cm to the width.
Cut out 2 pieces from a piece of leather the size you need for your phone, adding the centimeters described above.
Round the corners of two pieces by placing one part on top of the other.
On a cardboard template, make small round holes at a distance of about 5 mm from each other.
Place the template on the folded leather pieces (the parts are folded with the insides facing each other) and make holes using pliers along the sides and bottom sides. Secure the template with clamps.
Place 2 needles on the thread on both sides.
We start stitching from the side.
First, go through the first hole with one needle and straighten the thread.
Next, we sew alternately with two needles, pulling the needles into one hole in opposite directions.
In this way we stitch the cover completely.
Now secure the thread by passing the needle through the last hole several times. Cut off the excess part.
On the top of the cover, make 2 through holes, at a distance of 1 cm.
Thread a decorative thread through them, putting aeglets on the ends in advance. Tie a nice bow.

Warm thread cover

This soft white and fluffy phone case will warm your hands in winter frosts. It is pleasant to the touch and has a cute appearance. Let's try to make such a case with our own hands following the instructions with a step-by-step description.

You will need:

White yarn
Glue gun
Scissors
Parchment paper
Scotch
Baking paper
Ruler

Progress:

Wrap the phone in paper, securing the seams and folds with tape on the screen side. So that the back cover has a flat surface.
Using a glue gun, make a base on the back cover, covering the entire surface with glue, leaving the holes for the microphone and camera free. Also process the side of the phone.
When the glue is completely dry, remove the base, now we will work with it.
Wind the thread around the ruler so that the threads are parallel. We wind it based on the width of the phone, it should correspond to the width of the wound threads.
Apply glue to one edge of a ruler with threads and glue it to a base made of glue. We wait a few minutes for the glue to dry and cut the thread along the opposite edge of the ruler. We also cut the thread from the skein.
We do this until the entire cover is filled with lint. You need to retreat about 5 mm from the previous row.
When you have covered the entire back cover, do the same with the side parts.
Our case is ready!

Beaded case

A beaded case requires a lot of patience and perseverance from the craftsman, so not everyone will have such a case. Of course, you can glue beads to the cover of the phone, forming a pattern out of it, but a knitted one will look more beautiful and elegant.

Mobile phone case made of paper using origami technique (budget option)

You will need: a sheet of A4 paper of any color, PVA glue.

Master Class

Lay a sheet of paper horizontally.
Place your phone on top.
Wrap the phone to the end of the sheet.
Fold the bottom of the paper up to the phone several times.
Fold the triangles at the bottom of the sheet up.
Secure the folds with glue.

You will need: elastic bands of 3 colors in the amount of 500 pieces, a hook, a weaving machine (it should have 2 rows: the holes in the bottom row should point to the right, and the top ones to the left).

Master Class

Slide the elastic bands from the top row of the second pin, then cross them onto the third pin of the bottom row.
Place the elastic bands crosswise, from the second pin of the bottom row to the third pin of the top row.
Place the elastic bands in the same way from the third pin of the top row to the fourth pin of the top row. You should get three crosses.
Pass two pins through the center and weave four more crosses in the same way. You should get four crosses and there should be two free pins left at the edges of the machine.
Place rubber bands on the top and bottom pins of the next row, facing oppositely. In the same way, put rubber bands on all the pins of the previous row.
Turn the machine vertically towards you so that the top pins are facing you with their heads.
Place the first elastic band on one bottom and one top without crossing.
Attach without crossing the remaining elastic bands along the top row - one after the other, without missing the two middle pins.
Make the bottom row in the same way, connecting with an elastic band on the second side.
Using a crochet hook, remove two rubber bands from the bottom row of each pin.
Skip the middle pins, there should be two rubber bands left on each pin.
Take elastic bands of a different color and make the next row in the same way as the third.
Remove the two bottom loops in a circle and again put on elastic bands of a different color in a circle, then remove the bottom loops.
Make two rows in the same way, alternating colors. (For one row, put the loops on once, then remove).
Make a hole for the screen in this way: turn the machine vertically, the bayonets of the left row should be facing you. Remove the bottom elastic from the third pin of the left row and place it on the fourth. The last loop should cross over to the seventh pin.
Remove the remaining loop from the middle five pins. There should be three pins left with rubber bands on each side.
Knit the next row in this way: start from the third working pin to weave elastic band by elastic band clockwise. Leave five pins on one side.
Remove the bottom elastic bands, there should be two loops on the pins.
Knit another eleven rows, alternating colors in the same way.
Knit a row clockwise, filling all the pins.
Remove the bottom elastic bands from the pins, but do not remove the five ones that were not used before.
Skip the two working pins in the row where the unknitted pins are, slip the lowest stitch off the third pin and place it on the next pin. Do this until the last two pins are empty. Knit one row.
Take the machine vertically, remove the bottom loop from the right row of the second working pin and put it on the next bayonet. The last loop should be placed over the fourth working pin.
Remove the bottom hinges from the third and second pins.
Place the loops in a circle, leaving the two pins empty, then remove the bottom loops.
Slide the elastics onto the next row using all the pins. Remove the loops and do not touch the pins, which have two elastic bands.
Swap the top and bottom loop on the first pin, transfer the top loop to the next pin. Connect the structure.
Remove one bottom loop from the next two pins and transfer them to the next pin.
Knit a row in the usual way.
Close the cover this way: make a row of crosses as in the beginning, using all the pins. Make the next row between the opposite pins in crosses.
Remove the bottom loops and leave the elastic bands used to make the figure eights. There should be three loops left on the bottom pin.
Place the bottom loop of each pin onto the next pin. Make the next row in the same way.
Make a knot with an extra elastic on the right side, then remove the cover from the machine. Hide the knot and straighten the protruding loops, and then put the case on the phone.

Hot glue mobile phone bumper case

You will need: glue gun, nail polish, tape, parchment paper.

Master Class

Take parchment paper and cover the phone so that the back panel and side panels are seamless.
Secure the joints with tape in the screen area.
Mark the places where the camera, sockets and buttons are located.
Apply hot glue to the sides of the phone, then outline the designated areas.
Make a pattern on the back of the phone so that the pattern connects to the side of the phone.
Wait until completely dry.
Apply your favorite color of nail polish and color in the design.
Wait until completely dry.
Put a case on your phone.

Balloon mobile phone case (budget option)

You will need: balloon of your favorite color.

Take a balloon, inflate it and do not tie it.
Place the phone screen side up on top of the ball.
Press the phone into the ball, gradually deflating it.
Release the ball when there is little air left and continue pressing the phone into the ball.
Wait until the ball covers the phone, this is a sign that the case is ready.

You will need: a notepad with an elastic band to the size of your phone, a stationery knife, a ruler, glue, felt, a pencil, cardboard, a narrow rubber band.

Cut out the sheets and sides of the notebook using a utility knife.
Divide one side of the notebook in half, marking with a pencil.
Cut along the line to the outer grain of the notebook cover using a stationery knife, then cut a strip half a centimeter wide in this place for the future fold.
Glue the inside sides of the notebook cover.
Trace the notebook cover onto the felt and cut it out.
Place the felt on the inside of the notebook cover, then cut the felt along the side fold.
Glue a felt blank to the notebook cover.
Outline the phone on a piece of cardboard, then cut out the blank.
Glue the cardboard to the felt and cut it to the desired shape, leaving a centimeter from the cardboard.
Cut two corners of the felt on each side, then glue the corners.
Glue two elastic bands across this blank.
Glue the blank onto the folded outer half.
Put a case on your phone.

You will need: a sheet of cardboard of any color, scissors, glue, marker, eraser.

Draw the phone twice on cardboard at a distance of half a centimeter and cut it out.
Make two folds along the lines in the center of the workpiece.
Glue one side of the case to the back cover of the phone.
Attach a thin elastic band to the case so that the case can be closed.

You will need: felt of any colors, needle, thread, glue gun, scissors, ruler, pencil.

Fabric mobile phone case

You will need: thick fabric, thread with a needle, acrylic paints, colored paper, scissors, glue, stencil, ruler.

Measure the dimensions of the phone, use a stencil to cut out two identical blanks with wavy edges.
Draw SpongeBob's face on one blank.
Make a sponge outfit out of colored paper and glue it on.
Sew the pieces together from the wrong side.

Leather mobile phone case

You will need: leather of any color, scissors, clips, thick thread, cardboard template, pliers for installing eyelets, two gypsy needles for decoration (two aiglets, decorative thread), pen, ruler.

Master Class

Measure the dimensions of the phone, add a centimeter to the length, and two to the width, remember the parameters.
Make two identical leather blanks with the required parameters.
Round the corners of the workpieces.
Make round small holes on the cardboard template with a spacing of 5mm.
Fold the leather blanks with the insides facing each other and attach the template.
Use tongs to make holes along the bottom and sides. Secure the template with clamps.
Place two needles on the thread on both sides.
Sew from the side in this way: go through the first hole with one needle, straighten the thread, then sew in turn with two needles, pulling them into one hole, but in different directions.
Sew the entire cover, then fasten the thread several times.
Make two through holes with a distance of a centimeter on the top of the cover.
Place eglets on the ends of the decorative thread.
Thread decorative thread through the holes and tie a bow.

You will need: yarn, scissors, glue gun, tape, parchment paper, ruler, baking paper.

Master Class

Wrap the phone in parchment paper.
Secure the folds and seams with tape on the screen side.
Make a base on the back of the phone using a hot glue gun, covering the entire back and side with hot glue except for the camera and microphone openings.
Wait until it dries completely and remove the base from the phone.
Wind the thread parallel to the ruler, taking into account the width of the phone.
Apply glue to one edge of the ruler and glue it to the base.
Wait for it to dry completely and cut the thread along the opposite edge of the ruler, then cut the thread from the skein.
Fill the entire cover with fibers of yarn, leaving 5 mm between rows.

You will need: beads of any colors of the same size, glue gun, toothpick, cardboard.

Master Class

Place some beads on the table.
Apply a bead of hot glue to the cardboard.
Dip the tip of a toothpick into a drop of hot glue.
Touch the toothpick to the bead.
Dip the bead into a drop of hot glue.
Glue the bead to the phone.
Glue the rest of the beads on the back and side covers of the phone in the same way. Please note that the work is painstaking and will take a certain amount of time, but you need to work at a pace, since hot glue hardens quickly.

You will need: rivets (to cover the entire phone you will need 80 rivets, partly as in the picture - 31), glue gun, cardboard, tongs or tweezers.

Master Class

Prepare the rivets by placing them with the sharp part facing up.
Take the rivet with tweezers.
Apply a small bead of hot glue to the rivet.
Glue the rivet to the phone.
Glue all the rivets in this way.

You will need: cosmetic glitter, brush, hairspray, clear nail polish.

Master Class

Spray hairspray on part of the back cover of the phone.
Apply glitter to the tire using a brush.
Apply glitter quickly as the polish dries and the glitter may not stick.
Seal with a good coat of clear varnish.
Let it dry.

You will need: beads, glue gun, tongs or tweezers.

You will need: cotton or wool thread for knitting (white, black), needle, hook (clover 1.8 mm), black marker, cotton wool.

In addition, wood is a very pleasant material to the touch. Therefore, it is quite logical to make something from it that we often touch. I'm talking about a smartphone case. In our case, this is an iPhone, but this is not at all important. A wooden case for a smartphone can be made in various ways: cut on a machine, glued from parts cut on a machine, and made by hand using carpentry tools. Not everyone has machines, but not everyone has hands (potentially), so we’ll tell you about the third method.

First you need to take a wooden block slightly larger than the phone and saw off two thin plates from it. These will be the front and back walls.

Then we cut out the sides from wood to a size slightly thicker than the phone.

We fasten these blanks with wood glue and leave them to dry for a day.

Further processing can be carried out in different ways. The most common method is staining and varnishing. But if you want to make a truly original case, here are examples of different materials and processing methods: on the left is a case made of amaranth, coated with colorless wax, in the middle is made of oak, soaked for 5 minutes in black Rubio Monocoat oil, on the right is also made of oak, aged for 15 minutes in Rubio Monocoat clear oil. After processing, we attach a leather clasp with a sewn-in magnet to the case. We drill a hole in the case for the second magnet and attach it there with glue.

The wooden iPhone case is ready.
