Ex tas. Mysterious ecstasy. What does such a state bring into a person's life? New explanatory and derivational dictionary of the Russian language, T. F. Efremova

Most sexologists now distinguish several forms of the female orgasm. According to the localization of orgasm: four physiological forms - clitoral, vaginal, uterine(orgasm of the cervix, or cervical), perineal and several pathological oral, rectal(anal) nipple.

Orgasm- a complex psychophysiological process, the foundations of which lie in the corresponding processes in the brain. Excitation of specific pleasure zones of the brain leads to an objective manifestation of orgasm. The inclusion of these zones occurs under the influence of impulses coming from the female genital organs.

The motor activity of the woman's body and its individual parts resembles convulsions. In some cases, the body tenses and stretches, possibly raising the pelvis and arching the body like an arc (with support on the back of the head and heels), the arms are tense and stretched out, the jaws are clenched, the eyes are tightly closed. In other cases, the body bends, wriggles, beats, makes throwing movements, arms and legs scatter, make sharp chaotic movements, the head spins in different directions. All this is accompanied by sound phenomena (screams, screams, sobs, groans, creaking of teeth, as well as sounds muffled by volitional effort or spasm of the speech muscles, groans, sighs, etc.).

Sometimes separate words and incoherent phrases break out. There is a spasm, i.e., a rather sharp contraction of the muscles of the vagina, uterus, perineum and other muscles of the small pelvis. Usually, a young woman who has not given birth with well-developed muscles has 2-3 strong spasms and several weak ones that gradually fade. In women with weaker muscles, older in age, who gave birth, only one strong spasm and 1-2 weak ones are possible. All of these spasms can be felt by a man's penis.

The increase in discharge into the vagina is sometimes so sharp that the penis loses the feeling of the walls of the vagina, as if "floating" in it. In rare cases, a large amount of fluid even pours out.

During true orgasm, a woman's breast nipples swell and harden (nipple erection).

The totality of all signs is an external, objective picture of the physiological orgasm of women. The subjective inner picture can be described based on their stories. Many women note a feeling of intense heat in the lower abdomen, in the genitals and in the depths of the vagina, a kind of heat wave in these areas, a sensation of a blow in the depths of the small pelvis or painfully sweet spasm, squeezing inside, in the depths of the genitals.

Everything described concerns a relatively simple type of female orgasm, namely the physiological orgasm. Such an orgasm is more or less regularly observed in three-quarters of women who are sexually active. The most common is the so-called clitoral type of orgasm.

How important is the so-called "anatomical correspondence" of the genitals of a man and a woman for a woman to get an orgasm?

The size of the genital organs in sexology and in society has always been given great importance. In reality, however, the situation is much more prosaic. First of all, for a fully valuable sexual life in all respects, a particularly large penis is not required.

As you know, four types of orgasm are possible in women, and with three of them (clitoral, vaginal and perineal), the size of the penis does not matter. With the fourth type of orgasm - cervical (uterine) - a certain length of the penis is necessary, but even then it is very moderate, since the cervix of the uterus in most women is relatively shallow.

There is no relationship between the overall dimensions of the body, in particular the height and size of the penis, in a man and the volume of the vagina in a woman. Anatomical discrepancy can occur only with a roughly pronounced pathology of the vagina (underdevelopment of it, cicatricial narrowing after injuries, burns). In other cases, the genitals of a man and a woman represent a functional system in which the vagina can be significantly stretched with a large penis and, conversely, shrinking tightly around a small penis.

What is a clitoral orgasm?

It used to be that this type of orgasm was reserved for very young women, and as they get older, the orgasm moves into the vagina. However, it is not. A clitoral orgasm can be characteristic of any woman, regardless of her age, physique, etc.

Clitoral stimulation is required to produce a clitoral orgasm. Women who have a clitoral orgasm can hardly get it in the usual, most common position in Europe. At the same time, the clitoris remains outside the field of irritation during frictions.

During normal intercourse, the necessary irritation of the clitoris is achieved by its contact with the back of the penis, for which it is necessary to enter the penis at a certain angle (from top to bottom). This is possible with a normal distance of the clitoris from the entrance to the vagina (about 2.5 cm). If the clitoris is located higher, then the penis does not reach it. In this case, it is necessary either to change the position of sexual intercourse, or to apply titillation (small monotonous irritating movements) of the clitoris with a finger, both in the preparatory period and during intercourse.

The head of the clitoris is rich blood vessels and nerve endings, so irritation with his hand should be very light, gentle. Sometimes it is helpful to lubricate your fingers with petroleum jelly or moisten your finger by inserting it into the vagina beforehand. With excessive sensitivity of the head of the clitoris, irritating effects with a finger can be transferred higher, to the body or tail. These parts of the clitoris are deeper, and therefore a more dramatic impact is acceptable.

Women with a clitoral type of orgasm are not suitable for intercourse from behind. The following position is more acceptable: after the beginning of coitus in the classical position, move the legs, then the penis irritates the clitoris with each friction. In this case, the husband and wife can change places - the husband is below, and the wife is above. An objective sign clitoral orgasm is a significant increase in the size of the clitoris (erection), an increase in its temperature.

How does a vaginal orgasm occur?

The second type of female orgasm is vaginal. In this case, the lower third of the anterior wall of the vagina serves as an erogenous field, which requires a special technique of sexual intercourse, which consists in closely pressing the glans penis against the anterior wall of the vagina during frictions.

In addition, special “small” frictions are also practiced, i.e., shallow, capturing only the lower part of the vagina. In this case, the impact on the lower third of the anterior wall of the vagina is enhanced ("Spanish" sexual intercourse). There are also cases of combined orgasm, that is, clitoral-vaginal. In the preliminary period of caresses in women, it is effective to irritate the clitoris and the anterior wall of the vagina with the hand at the same time, and during intercourse - the simultaneous impact on both erogenous zones with the penis or hand.

For any form of orgasm, the maximum overflow of the cavernous bodies with blood is necessary, and the lower part of the vagina is precisely covered by muscles closely associated with the cavernous bodies. By contracting these muscles, a woman not only enhances the filling of her own cavernous bodies - squeezing the base of a man's penis during intercourse, but also impedes the outflow of blood from his cavernous bodies, sharply increasing her husband's erection and creating additional pleasant sensations for him.

Unfortunately, the work of these most important muscles for orgasm is not always complete. On the one hand, in some women they are weak, and on the other hand, there are women who do not know how to use them properly. The task of a sexologist in both cases is to teach a woman how to use these muscles.

The power of any striated muscle increases with exercise, so we give some frigid women homework - special sexological gymnastics: daily repeatedly squeeze the main muscle - the vaginal constrictor, and if a woman does not know how to do this, we advise you to retract the anus.

The lower third of the vagina and the muscles of the perineum play an important role in the formation of an orgasm. These muscle parts, when tensed, form the orgasmic cuff. Objectively, the vaginal orgasm is expressed in 5-12 contractions of this cuff with an interval of 0.8 seconds. After orgasm, the cuff and the walls of the vagina quickly relax. With a vaginal form of orgasm, a woman can get sexual satisfaction in any position.

What is the peculiarity of the uterine orgasm?

During this type of orgasm, uterine contractions begin at the bottom of the uterus and move to the body and lower segment. The strength of uterine contractions is equal to the strength of orgasm. This orgasm is characterized by the so-called "suction effect", in which the cervix seems to stick to the upper part of the vagina. Then the uterus returns to its original position.

With the uterine form of orgasm, a woman needs irritation of the cervix with the penis. The penis may not reach the cervix if it is short, or vice versa if the vagina is too large. In these cases, it is necessary that sexual intercourse takes place in a position where the woman lies on her back and pulls her legs to her stomach, which significantly shortens the vagina. It is also possible that the man lies on his back, and the woman squats on top.

With various types of deviations, the cervix is \u200b\u200bnot located in the posterior fornix, but "looks" forward. In order to "put the uterus in place", you can again change the position, apply gynecological massage and knee-elbow breathing exercises. In this case, it is also better to recommend sexual intercourse in a position where the woman lies on her stomach or on her side. In this position, the penis does not fall into the posterior fornix, but into the anterior one, as in the knee-elbow position of a woman.

With excessive obesity of a woman, coitus is possible only in the back position on the side with legs strongly bent in hip joints or in the knee-elbow position of a woman. The same position is almost the only one possible with excessive obesity in men.

The technique of sexual intercourse with this type of orgasm is that the man produces deep frictions, rhythmically affecting the cervix and posterior fornix. And in this case, strong blows to the neck should be avoided.

What is a perineal orgasm? The fourth type of orgasm is perineal. It occurs much less frequently. Relevant nerve impulses come from the perineum when it comes into a state of vibration. Women with this type of orgasm sometimes experience it while riding a horse, cycling or motorcycle. The technique of sexual intercourse in this case consists in the impact of the head of the penis on the back wall of the vagina in its lower segment.

How do you feel about imitation of orgasm by women?

The widespread phenomenon of imitation is especially often observed in women instead of the orgastic period. A woman imitates an orgasm with the means available to her, thereby solving some socio-psychological problems. She wants to prove her sexual usefulness to her partner (if she tends to regard herself as a "cold" woman). She wants to convince her partner that he is a complete man, if this is important to her. She wants to prevent his aggression (reproaches, reprimands) if she thinks that the partner will blame her for not engaging in sexual intercourse. She wants to prevent a reaction of self-blame and despair from a partner in the event that she assumes that such a reaction will interfere with their further relationship. In short, the imitation of orgasm is a complex and responsible action of a woman, to which she attaches great importance. However, this widespread female action is misguided.

Most of the listed problems and tasks facing a woman can be solved in a different, “open”, but tactful way, namely, a joint friendly search for shortcomings in technology and psychological communication, a friendly construction of a true orgasm that connects both partners. As already mentioned, only that part of the manifestations of orgasm is available for imitation, which is amenable to arbitrary or conscious regulation.

Is it possible to achieve simultaneous orgasm of a man and a woman?

For sexual harmony, it is desirable that the orgasm of a man and a woman coincide in time, and if she has an orgastic series, the coincidence of a man's orgasm with the last orgasm of a woman is desirable. A perfect match is not always necessary. If the woman is already in the pre-orgasmic period, then the man after ejaculation should not remove the penis from the vagina for a few more seconds without making frictions, and the woman will automatically have an orgasm after the pre-orgasmic period. If simply waiting is still not enough for a woman to have an orgasm, a man can immediately stimulate a woman after ejaculation in some other way, for example, with his hand, etc.

What is a psycho-emotional orgasm?

Psycho-emotional orgasm is much less common in both men and women. In fact, this is a complex psycho-physiological experience that unfolds on the basis of a simpler, elementary, physiological orgasm. The probability of the onset of a psycho-emotional orgasm depends on the emotional make-up of a person, his general culture, the ability to express emotional experiences in general: delight, ecstatic states. We can say that the frequency and quality of psycho-emotional orgasm have a significant social conditionality of the general way of life of people. In the era of sentimentalism or romanticism, psycho-emotional orgasm was probably more common.

The emergence of a psycho-emotional orgasm in both a man and a woman depends on the type of attitude of a man to the image of a woman in general, on his assessment of this image, the value of a woman in life. At a time when a woman is an object of worship for a man, an ideal of beauty, moral perfection, such a complex of emotions arises that contributes to the onset of a psycho-emotional orgasm in both partners. It has long been noted that emotional condition a man during intercourse contributes to both the excitation of a woman and her inhibition, depending on the nature of these emotions.

Psycho-emotional orgasm can be psychologically interpreted as a significant narrowing of the field of consciousness of both partners. Against this background, an emotional upsurge occurs in the form of an ecstatic state with the appearance of brightly colored fantasies and even with impaired perception (feeling of flight, weightlessness, any changes in one's body, etc.). The leading emotion at this time is the experience of happiness, joy, liberation. At the same time, the content of emotional experiences in men and women is different. So, a man has a “motive of mastery”, up to “devouring a woman”.

A man, as it were, completely merges with a woman, taking her into the depths of his soul. This is also consistent with the most common words in this situation that a man utters, for example: “I will eat you without a trace”, “you are mine”, etc. a man, dissolves in him. This state corresponds to such words as “take all of me”, “I am yours”, “do with me what you want”, etc. The emotion of bestowal is manifested not only in words, but also in gestures, as if belittling, giving oneself man.

How many orgasms can a woman experience in one sexual intercourse?

Approximately 20% of women have a need during the same sexual intercourse to have not one, but three or four orgasms in a row. This means that for them the concept of satisfaction and saturation are different. Each orgasm brings satisfaction, but only their combination leads to saturation, that is, to the disappearance of a further need for orgasm. This phenomenon is called the orgastic series. It is absolutely normal. This must be emphasized, because some men, and sometimes women, consider it a manifestation of some kind of disease, and men, in addition, a manifestation of the woman's licentiousness or depravity. Of course, the husband or long-term partner of a woman should be aware of her orgastic series and, taking this into account, build his sexual relationship with her.

What happens to a woman's body after intercourse? Sexual arousal of a woman and after full saturation decreases gradually. In this regard, she painfully reacts to the sexual indifference of a man, which occurs after the end of sexual intercourse.

There are a lot of complaints that men quickly move on to everyday prosaic conversations or fall asleep. In fact, these complaints express the woman's need for the so-called post-coital caresses, that is, for the caresses of a man after intercourse. These caresses should not be of an exciting nature, so they do not come down to irritation. erogenous zones, but on the contrary, consist in the impact on the non-erogenous parts of the woman's body.

The psychological content of these caresses is an expression of gratitude, tenderness, emotional looseness. At the same time, a woman in the period of postcoital caresses expresses gratitude to the man and appreciates him as a sexual partner. Indeed, every man during and after intercourse has a hidden need to receive a tactful assessment of his actions from a woman.

It contributes to his self-affirmation, but at the same time, he becomes especially vulnerable to reproaches and generally disapproving statements. That is why, when we recommend a woman to carry out with a man the necessary adjustment of his actions in the preparatory period and during the period of sexual intercourse, we always emphasize that this should be done at a different time, but by no means immediately after intercourse. During this period, the assessment of a woman should be, of course, positive in any case. It must be remembered that this is not only the final assessment of this proximity, but also an incentive for the future. A man will always want to justify a woman's assessment in the future, especially if she was slightly higher than the objective assessment.

This is an extremely responsible psychological moment, and, of course, it is difficult to describe how a woman should do this. For example, one woman said briefly: "It was a fairy tale", another did not say anything, but raised her thumb, and the third whispered: "I forgot the whole world except you." Although, according to the conditions of life, partners, including husband and wife, sometimes have to get up after this and do household activities, the psychologically most perfect state of partners after the described period is sleep. A woman should fall asleep before a man, resting in his arms, and not vice versa (except for a woman of the “mother woman” type).

A person is capable of experiencing a wide range of different feelings. Many emotions familiar from childhood - joy, peace, anger and others - are repeated many times throughout life. But there are also sensations that are unfamiliar to most people or are experienced very rarely, for example, ecstasy. state can bring into a person's life? This is what we will try to understand in this article.

The meaning of the concept of "ecstasy"

If we consider direct translation this term from Greek, it will sound like "displacement or exit from the usual state." Most people associate this word with experiences of an erotic or religious nature. But such a state is also very often experienced by people in connection with mystical experiences and accompanies heroic deeds. Ecstasy... What must happen for a person to experience it, and why do so many seek these sensations?

The desire to experience such a state arises due to the fact that most people associate this concept with positive emotions. But the state of ecstasy can also be caused by negative experiences. Along with the ecstasy of delight, there is also the ecstasy of self-destruction and despair, humiliation and rage. Only the magnitude of the feelings that are experienced at such a moment unites positive and negative experiences. This is the main characteristic of the altered state we are considering.

Little Known Facts

It is curious that it is impossible to bring to ecstasy by force, it is necessary that a person be ready to experience such strong emotions. Such a state is characterized by the erasure of boundaries between oneself and the surrounding space. Many people confuse ecstasy with orgasm, which can only occur on a physiological level, but these are completely different sensations. It is impossible for an untrained person to perform a complex gymnastic trick, and it is also pointless to artificially arouse such feelings in oneself.

There is an opinion that ecstatic reactions are very close to the borderline beyond which deviations from the norm begin. In this regard, people often look for any signs that characterize ecstasy. What such a state can change in a person? First of all - behavior! In the specialized literature there are various descriptions of such a state, which is accompanied by actions that are atypical for most people. Examples are the activity of fans at concerts or the dances of shamans.

Obviously, one should not artificially try to evoke certain emotions in oneself, because such experiments can go too far. Humanity already has a sad example of the use of harmful substances in order to achieve an altered state - this is drug addiction and alcoholism. Our body is much wiser than us, and in its natural state allows us to experience only those sensations that it is able to endure without harming the psyche and health.

Conclusion

It is not worth it by any means, and even more so with the help of trying to experience ecstasy. What such a condition can cause in a person is well known to workers in psychiatric hospitals. Very often there is a loss of the reality of space and time, as well as uncontrolled physical actions and physiological processes.

Unfortunately, the ideology of many destructive organizations is built on the desire of people to experience new feelings and emotions. The main thing is to remember that only that which comes naturally, without violating the harmony of the worldview, is true.

religious ecstasy

The classic of English spiritual literature, Frederick Myers, wrote that "ecstasy is a very common religious manifestation." Among all subjective religious experiences, ecstasy is comparatively accessible and psychologically the most authentic. Ecstasy is spoken of in almost all religions. "From the shaman of savage tribes to the Buddha, Mahomet and mystic apostles - John, Peter and Paul - we meet with similar psychological evidence, no matter how significant the psychological, intellectual and moral differences between these people." Through religious contemplation, one can achieve that state of intimate communion with God, in which "the soul abides in God and God in the soul", however, contemplation is not the final stage of unity with the Absolute. Many great contemplators describe separately and consider more sublime than the prayer of union, a group of definitely ecstatic states, when the concentration of soul energy on the Transcendent is so full and the boiling of life at this point is so intense that a person plunges into a trance and for some time ceases to be aware of the external world . In ordinary contemplation, a person does not follow the external world, but he does not completely abstract himself either. In ecstasy, a person cannot be aware of the external world. No signals from this world reach him, including even the most persistent ones - sensations of physical suffering.

For example, the apostle Peter was in ecstasy (in a frenzy), when, according to the book of the Acts of the Holy Apostles, being in prayer in the city of Joppa, in a vision he received a revelation from God that it was necessary to accept not only Jews, but also pagans into the church:

The Apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles also accepted the word of God. And when Peter came to Jerusalem, the circumcised rebuked him, saying, You went to uncircumcised people and ate with them. Peter began to retell them in order, saying: in the city of Joppa I prayed, and in a frenzy (ἐκστάσει) I saw a vision: a certain vessel descended, like a large canvas, descending from the four corners from heaven, and descended to me. I looked into it and, looking, I saw four-legged earthly animals, reptiles and birds of the sky. And I heard a voice saying to me, "Get up, Peter, kill and eat." I said, "No, Lord, nothing filthy or unclean has ever entered my mouth." And a voice answered me a second time from heaven: “What God has cleansed, you do not call unclean.” This happened three times, and again everything went up to heaven.

Neoplatonism

The ancient idealist philosopher, the founder of Neoplatonism, Plotinus speaks of ecstasy as "coming out of oneself", as the last step towards achieving the One, which, according to Plotinus, is the beginning of all that exists, that is, the absolute Good. In ecstasy, a person touches the Divine, the Perfect Origin, the source of everything perfect, the power that produces the existing.

We call Him one, on the one hand, out of necessity, in order to call Him at least somehow, so that we can point out to each other what we are talking about, and on the other, in order to bring our soul into unity and achieve a single undivided concepts.

Perfect unity is unlimited, the absolute Good is not closed in itself, it is abundant. Human nature, on the other hand, is limited, and the only way to rise above one's limitations, to approach the divine, that is, the supersensible, the superthinkable, is to experience ecstasy, through "progressing from oneself to God."

According to Plotinus, the highest life task is exhausted by the return to the highest, the divine, the true; ascension above the earthly dimension of life. Deification requires a person to distance himself from his own sensuality, a disinterested attitude to the world, abstract thinking (arithmetic, geometric), love for the Beautiful (One), pure speculation (contemplation in silence - hesychia) and, finally, admiration, ecstasy, in which the human spirit becomes one with the Divine, merges with him.

Plotinus describes the ecstasy of fusion in this way: “Then the soul sees nothing and does not distinguish either before itself or in itself. It is as if she becomes something else, ceases to be herself and belong to herself. It belongs to God and is one with Him, as in concentric circles one within the other. ... Since in this union with the Divine there can be no separation, and the perceiver must be the same as the perceived [pure contemplation], insofar as a person retains the idea of God only if he is able to retain in himself the memory of achieving this unity and being in it... For at the same time, nothing stirs in it, neither anger, nor desire, nor reason, nor even intellectual perception [including dialectical consideration!] - nothing can set it in motion, yes we will be allowed to say so. Being in ecstasy, being in renounced loneliness alone with God, a person tastes true serenity. . The ecstasy of Plotinus is characterized by a feeling of purification, eternity, divine delight, to which everything earthly is alien. According to Plotinus, ecstasy is the highest spiritual state.

Ecstasy in Christianity

In Christianity, the highest spiritual state is deification, that is, what in the patristic literature is called "God's adoption", "likeness to God", "change into God", "transformation into God", "deification". The idea of "theosis" was the central point of the religious life of the East, around which revolved all questions of dogma, ethics and mysticism.

Archimandrite Cyprian Kern, the leading Russian patrologist, believed that Neoplatonism had a strong influence on the Christian doctrine of deification. Plotinus, the ancient idealist philosopher, the founder of Neoplatonism, also in his teaching speaks of achieving a higher spiritual state, of uniting with the Divine, of uniting with Him in ecstasy. However, Plotinus' ecstasy and Christian deification are not the same thing. Plotinian ecstasy is the result of mental activity, an intellectual euphoria, a process in which no participation of the body is supposed. The body is an echo of the earthly, material, a shell from which one must get out in order to merge with the purest Absolute Spirit. Also, the philosopher does not speak of prayer as a path to divine vision. For Christian thinkers, the achievement of God is the fruit of prayerful labor, and the body also joins the Divine energy, which enters "into all structures, into the womb (inside), into the heart." In Christianity, it is Christ who is the only Person who reveals the Divine reality to man, Plotinus does not know God, who has become bread, food, nourishment for soul and body.

The deification of Plotinus, or ecstasy, is dissolution in the One until the complete loss of one's own individuality, while Christian prayer ecstasy means the highest communion with the Divine light without losing one's personality, the interpenetration of God and man as two personalities becoming "equal".

According to the Russian historian and theologian K. E. Skurat, the result of constant prayerful communion with God is a closer union with Him - contemplation and ecstasy. Ecstasy is the highest form of prayerful state and moral perfection. If contemplation is an activity that consists in divine reflection and constant prayer, then at the highest level of contemplation there comes a special spiritual state, which the holy ascetics call "intelligent contemplation", "spiritual vision", "knowledge", "intelligent vision", "amazement ” and “higher vision”. That is, not prayer, but being in "rapture" or "ecstasy."

The highest state attained by prayer is understandable only to those who have reached and experienced it through their own experience. It is absolutely impossible for a carnal person, that is, who knows only earthly “bliss,” to even imagine it in his mind.

Through religious ecstasy, moral perfection is achieved, “the renewal of the human nature corrupted by sin takes place, spiritual feelings become finer, and our nature again acquires the property of an angel; it becomes a new creature and again unites with God, becomes a participant in Divine perfections, acquires the likeness of God.

An excerpt characterizing Ecstasy

You, without whom happiness would be impossible for me,
Gentle melancholy, oh come comfort me
Come, calm the torments of my gloomy solitude
And join the secret sweetness
To these tears that I feel flowing.]
Julie played Boris the saddest nocturnes on the harp. Boris read Poor Liza aloud to her and interrupted the reading more than once from excitement, which took his breath away. Meeting in a large society, Julie and Boris looked at each other as the only people in the world who were indifferent, who understood each other.
Anna Mikhailovna, who often traveled to the Karagins, making up her mother's party, meanwhile made accurate inquiries about what was given for Julie (both Penza estates and Nizhny Novgorod forests were given). Anna Mikhailovna, with devotion to the will of Providence and tenderness, looked at the refined sadness that connected her son with rich Julie.
- Toujours charmante et melancolique, cette chere Julieie, [She is still charming and melancholic, this dear Julie.] - she said to her daughter. - Boris says that he rests his soul in your house. He has suffered so many disappointments and is so sensitive,” she told her mother.
- Oh, my friend, how I became attached to Julie recent times, - she said to her son, - I can’t describe it to you! And who can't love her? This is such an unearthly creature! Oh Boris, Boris! She was silent for a minute. “And how I feel sorry for her maman,” she continued, “today she showed me reports and letters from Penza (they have a huge estate) and she is poor and all alone: she is so deceived!
Boris smiled slightly, listening to his mother. He meekly laughed at her ingenuous cunning, but he listened and sometimes asked her attentively about the Penza and Nizhny Novgorod estates.
Julie had long been expecting an offer from her melancholic admirer and was ready to accept it; but some kind of secret feeling of disgust for her, for her passionate desire to get married, for her unnaturalness, and a feeling of horror at the renunciation of the possibility of true love still stopped Boris. His vacation was already over. Whole days and every single day he spent with the Karagins, and every day, reasoning with himself, Boris told himself that he would propose tomorrow. But in the presence of Julie, looking at her red face and chin, almost always strewn with powder, at her moist eyes and at the expression on her face, which always showed readiness to immediately move from melancholy to the unnatural rapture of marital happiness, Boris could not utter a decisive word: despite the fact that for a long time in his imagination he considered himself the owner of the Penza and Nizhny Novgorod estates and distributed the use of income from them. Julie saw Boris's indecisiveness and sometimes the thought came to her that she was disgusting to him; but immediately a woman's self-delusion offered her consolation, and she told herself that he was shy only out of love. Her melancholy, however, began to turn into irritability, and not long before Boris left, she undertook a decisive plan. At the same time that Boris' vacation was coming to an end, Anatole Kuragin appeared in Moscow and, of course, in the Karagins' living room, and Julie, suddenly leaving her melancholy, became very cheerful and attentive to Kuragin.
“Mon cher,” Anna Mikhailovna said to her son, “je sais de bonne source que le Prince Basile envoie son fils a Moscou pour lui faire epouser Julieie.” [My dear, I know from reliable sources that Prince Vasily is sending his son to Moscow in order to marry him to Julie.] I love Julie so much that I should feel sorry for her. What do you think, my friend? Anna Mikhailovna said.
The idea of being fooled and losing for nothing this whole month of hard melancholic service under Julie and seeing all the income from the Penza estates already planned and used properly in his imagination in the hands of another - especially in the hands of stupid Anatole, offended Boris. He went to the Karagins with the firm intention of making an offer. Julie greeted him with a cheerful and carefree air, casually talking about how fun she had been at the ball yesterday, and asking when he was coming. Despite the fact that Boris came with the intention of talking about his love and therefore intended to be gentle, he irritably began to talk about female inconstancy: about how women can easily move from sadness to joy and that their mood depends only on who looks after them. Julie was offended and said that it was true that a woman needed variety, that everyone would get tired of the same thing.
“For this I would advise you ...” Boris began, wanting to taunt her; but at that very moment the insulting thought came to him that he might leave Moscow without achieving his goal and losing his labors in vain (which had never happened to him). He stopped in the middle of her speech, lowered his eyes so as not to see her unpleasantly irritated and indecisive face, and said: “I didn’t come here at all to quarrel with you. On the contrary…” He glanced at her to see if he could continue. All her irritation suddenly disappeared, and restless, pleading eyes were fixed on him with greedy expectation. "I can always arrange myself so that I rarely see her," thought Boris. “But the work has begun and must be done!” He blushed, looked up at her, and said to her, “You know how I feel about you!” There was no more need to speak: Julie's face shone with triumph and self-satisfaction; but she forced Boris to tell her everything that is said in such cases, to say that he loves her, and never loved a single woman more than her. She knew that for the Penza estates and Nizhny Novgorod forests she could demand this, and she got what she demanded.
The bride and groom, no longer remembering the trees that showered them with darkness and melancholy, made plans for the future arrangement of a brilliant house in St. Petersburg, made visits and prepared everything for a brilliant wedding.

Count Ilya Andreich arrived in Moscow at the end of January with Natasha and Sonya. The countess was still unwell, and could not go, but it was impossible to wait for her recovery: Prince Andrei was expected to Moscow every day; besides, it was necessary to buy a dowry; The Rostovs' house in Moscow was not heated; in addition, they arrived for a short time, the countess was not with them, and therefore Ilya Andreich decided to stay in Moscow with Marya Dmitrievna Akhrosimova, who had long offered her hospitality to the count.
Late in the evening, four carts of the Rostovs drove into the courtyard of Marya Dmitrievna in the old Konyushennaya. Marya Dmitrievna lived alone. She has already married her daughter. Her sons were all in the service.
She kept herself as straight as ever, spoke her opinion directly, loudly and decisively to everyone, and with her whole being seemed to reproach other people for all sorts of weaknesses, passions and hobbies, of which she did not recognize the possibility. With early morning in Kutsaveyka, she did housework, then went: on holidays to mass and from mass to jails and prisons, where she had affairs that she did not tell anyone about, and on weekdays, dressed, at home she received petitioners of different classes, who each day came to her, and then dined; at a hearty and tasty dinner there were always three or four guests, after dinner she made a party to Boston; at night she forced herself to read newspapers and new books, while she knitted. Rarely did she make exceptions for trips, and if she went out, she went only to the most important persons in the city.
She had not yet gone to bed when the Rostovs arrived, and the door on the block squealed in the hall, letting in the Rostovs and their servants who were coming in from the cold. Marya Dmitrievna, with spectacles pulled down on her nose, her head thrown back, stood at the door of the hall and looked at the incoming people with a stern, angry look. One would have thought that she was embittered against the newcomers and would now kick them out if she did not give careful orders to people at that time about how to accommodate the guests and their things.
- Counts? “Bring it here,” she said, pointing to the suitcases and not greeting anyone. - Ladies, this way to the left. Well, what are you kidding! she shouted at the girls. - Samovar to warm up! “I’ve gotten fatter, prettier,” she said, pulling Natasha, flushed from the cold, by the hood. - Ugh, cold! Get undressed quickly, - she shouted at the count, who wanted to approach her hand. - Freeze, please. Serve rum for tea! Sonyushka, bonjour,” she said to Sonya, emphasizing her slightly contemptuous and affectionate attitude towards Sonya with this French greeting.
When everyone, having undressed and recovered from the journey, came to tea, Marya Dmitrievna kissed everyone in order.
“I’m glad in my soul that they came and that they stopped at my place,” she said. “It’s high time,” she said, glancing significantly at Natasha ... “the old man is here and her son is expected from day to day. You need to get to know him. Well, let's talk about that later," she added, looking around Sonya with a look that showed that she didn't want to talk about it in front of her. “Now listen,” she turned to the count, “tomorrow, what do you want?” Who will you send for? Shinshin? – she bent one finger; - crybaby Anna Mikhailovna? - two. She is here with her son. The son is getting married! Then Bezukhov chtol? And he's here with his wife. He ran away from her, and she jumped after him. He dined with me on Wednesday. Well, and them - she pointed to the young ladies - tomorrow I'll take them to Iverskaya, and then we'll drop by to Ober Shelme. After all, I suppose you will do everything new? Don't take it from me, now the sleeves, that's what! The other day Princess Irina Vasilievna, young, came to me: she was afraid to look, as if she had put two barrels on her hands. After all, today that day is a new fashion. Yes, what do you have to do? she turned sternly to the count.
“Everything suddenly came up,” answered the count. - Buy rags, and then there is a buyer for the Moscow region and for the house. Well, if your grace is, I will choose a time, I will go to Marinskoye for a day, I will estimate my girls for you.
- All right, all right, I'll be safe. I have as in the Board of Trustees. I’ll take them where they need to be, and scold them, and caress them,” said Marya Dmitrievna, touching the cheek of her favorite and goddaughter Natasha with her big hand.
The next day, in the morning, Marya Dmitrievna took the young ladies to Iverskaya and to m me, Ober Shalma, who was so afraid of Marya Dmitrievna that she always gave her clothes at a loss, if only to quickly get her out of herself. Marya Dmitrievna ordered almost the entire dowry. Returning, she drove everyone except Natasha out of the room and called her favorite to her chair.
- Well, now let's talk. Congratulations on your fiance. Got a young man! I'm happy for you; and I know him from such years (she pointed to a arshin from the ground). Natasha blushed happily. I love him and all his family. Now listen. You know, old Prince Nikolai really did not want his son to marry. Good old man! It is, of course, Prince Andrei is not a child, and will do without him, but it is not good to enter the family against the will. Peacefully, lovingly. You are smart, you can do it right. You are kind and smart. That's all and it will be good.
Natasha was silent, as Marya Dmitrievna thought from shyness, but in essence it was unpleasant for Natasha that Prince Andrei interfered in her love affair, which seemed to her so special from all human affairs that no one, according to her concepts, could understand him. She loved and knew one Prince Andrei, he loved her and was supposed to come one of these days and take her. She didn't need anything else.
“You see, I have known him for a long time, and I love Mashenka, your sister-in-law. Sisters-in-law - beaters, well, this fly will not offend. She asked me to set her up with you. Tomorrow you and your father will go to her, but caress yourself well: you are younger than her. As soon as yours arrives, and you are familiar with your sister and father, and you are loved. So or not? After all, it will be better?
“Better,” Natasha answered reluctantly.

The next day, on the advice of Marya Dmitrievna, Count Ilya Andreevich went with Natasha to Prince Nikolai Andreevich. The count, with a gloomy spirit, was going to this visit: in his soul he was afraid. The last meeting during the militia, when the count, in response to his invitation to dinner, received a heated reprimand for not bringing people in, Count Ilya Andreich remembered. Natasha, dressed in her best dress, was opposite in the most cheerful mood. “It’s impossible that they don’t love me,” she thought: everyone has always loved me. And I am so ready to do for them whatever they want, so ready to love him - because he is a father, and her because she is a sister, that there is nothing for them not to love me!

Ecstasy- (from the Greek ἔκστασις (ecstasis) - displacement) 1) a state of extreme enthusiasm, frenzy, admiration of the human spirit, caused by a special influence of the Divine; 2) a state of frenzy associated with the influence on human consciousness; 3) a kind of affective state.

Meanwhile, the internal signs of demonic frenzy are fundamentally different from the internal signs of an ecstatic state, in which God's saints are under the influence of God's grace. While the latter is accompanied by the disclosure of the inner forces of the human soul and their aspiration to God, the former, on the contrary, is characterized by the suppression of personal qualities, clouding of the mind and will, irritable and sensitive human spheres.

A person who is in a state of grace-filled ecstatic frenzy is not characterized by passionate, sinful movements of the flesh and soul, while one who is under the influence of demons is characterized by the excitation of sinful movements. After all, the task of the demons is precisely to overshadow the best in a person and set him up in a bad, pleasing way.

Experiencing such an ungodly state, a person is often unable to see the danger; it happens that he is carried away by a state of excitement, euphoria. And then he looks for opportunities to experience it again and again. Moreover, this happens even when the victim of a demonic obsession realizes that he is being moved by a demon.

Representatives of all kinds of occult practices, witch gatherings, satanic rites can serve as an example here. Thus, step by step, a person loses moral and spiritual control, degrading, turning into an instrument of demonic forces. In addition, these practices can lead to serious psychological and nervous disorders.

If we are talking about cases of deceit, skillful adjustment of demons to angels, reposed saints or God Himself, as a result, even an ascetic who seemed to be steadfast can bow to the side of the demon.

According to the observations of G. Bertram, who published in 1956 the article “Praeparatio Evangelica in der Septuaginta” (“Preparation of the Gospel in the Septuagint”), the word amazement, “ecstasy” (Êξτασις) is used in the Greek Bible (together with the corresponding verb) 89 times, while corresponding to 30 different Jewish roots.
