Race selection

In this paragraph I will describe all the possible races for the game as a hunter. I will highlight the most suitable ones with a plus.

Alliance

Human. The only, but very significant fact, due to which it is worth choosing a person is the innate ability "Every man for himself", which removes all the effects of stunning, dumbness, sleep, etc. This will allow you not to buy a pvp tryna to remove all these effects, but to forget about pve "shny.

Draenei. It also has only one significant ability - this is "Gift of the Naaru", which restores 20% of your health in 15 seconds.

Night Elf. The night elves have two decent racial abilities in stock. The first is "Merge with Shadow", thanks to which you can bring down the cast on you. This ability resembles Khanty's Feign Dead ability. The second is "Quickness". This ability will reduce the chance of being hit by 2%.

Worgen. Worgen have an innate ability useful for the Khanty - "Vicious", which increases the critical damage rating by 1%. And one more - "Lightness of Darkness", which increases movement speed by 40% for 10 seconds. This ability will help you get away from the enemy. +

Dwarf. The main useful ability is "Stone Form". It removes all the effects of bleeding, poison and disease, and also reduces damage taken by 10% for 8 seconds. In pvp, it helps to escape the rogue. Another racial, passive skill is "Specialization in firearms", which will increase the chance of a critical hit with a gun by 1%. +

Horde

Orc (Orc). Orcs have 2 abilities - this is "Authority", which increased the damage of your pet by 5% and "Hardness" - 15% of the stun time. I don't think it's worth choosing this race because of them.

Tauren. Unlike orcs, tauren have more useful abilities. The first and most useful ability is Thunder Footstep, which stuns nearby enemies for 2 seconds, allowing you to escape from MDD. And the second, passive "Hardening" gives + 5% to health.

Goblin (Goblin). Goblins have quite a few good abilities. 1) Attack speed increased by 1%. 2) A grenade launcher on the belt that deals fire damage. 3) Jump in front of a long distance. Allows you to escape from melee men without any problems. +

Undead (Undead). I don't think it's worth playing as a hunter of this race. The Andeads have an ability that removes fir, sleep, submission. On this I think everything.

Blood Elf. Don't even think about choosing this race. Blood Elves have only one ability - this is "Magic Stream", which silences enemies for 2 seconds in a radius of 8 meters. I don’t think that you’ll go to the rdd every time just to give 2 seconds of silence.

Troll (Troll). One of the best races for the horde to play Marksmanship Hunter. First, it is "Berserker" + 20% attack speed. Secondly, "Voodoo Agility" - the duration of movement impairing effects has been reduced by 15%. "Regeneration", which increases the rate at which your health is restored, is third. And fourth is the bow specialization, which increases the crit rating. impact by 1%. +

Pet selection

In this paragraph, I will describe the most popular and optimal pets for a hunter.

Wolf. This pet has an ability that increases the critical strike chance of all abilities by 5% for you and your group.

Spider. Spiders have an excellent ability - this is the "Web", which throws a net on the enemy for 5 seconds, depriving him of the opportunity to move. The web is dispersed. In addition, in the spiders in the talent tree, you can pump "Roar of Self-Sacrifice" (a very important and useful ability), which gives you immunity to critical hits.

Cat. Has the ability "Roar of Fearlessness", thanks to which you and all members of your group will receive + 549 to dexterity and strength. In addition, the "Call of the Wild" ability is pumped in the talent tree, which increases your attack power and the attack power of your pet by 10%. This pet is doubly useful if you are playing with a Retrick or Feral Druid.

A monkey. A new species of animals that appeared in the cataclysm. The Ability "Rough Technique" allows you to stun the enemy for 4 seconds.

Deafening Focus Shot:

Rotation

There is no exact rotation in the arena, because cases and opponents are always different. If you have full focus and can cast Aimed Shot, then cast. After that, shoot the Chimera. It is advisable to do this when using a tryn. If you're lucky, those two shots won't hurt your opponent badly. After that, you can shoot with a Snake Bite. True, it is often dispersed, but still, it's worth a try. After that, we run and shoot Vyrny shots in order to accumulate tone. Gained tone, shoot Chimera + 2 Arcane Shots and repeat. When the Sniper talent is summed up to 5 times, you can shoot an Aimed Shot without casting, and we do this, because it is very difficult to have time to cast it in battle, if only under the action of fast shooting.

In Game World of warcraft, including versions 5.2.0 , Is one of the playable classes. This class specializes in dealing damage exclusively in ranged combat, ranged combat. If you want to choose the hunter class, then for this you need to be a representative of one of the races, namely: goblins, blood elves and night elves, tauren, orcs, undead, trolls (humans and for the horde), draenei, dwarves, worgen for alliance. For your information, in latest version games to become hunters and feel themselves in this role can also be pandaren, who have the opportunity to take the side of any character.

In order for the game to run well, you must use the capabilities of your chosen class with maximum impact, that is, fully. There are a few things to remember and know important rules, for example, that burst damage should be injected correctly. It will never be superfluous to control the enemy's response burst, you can do this, in particular, with a scatter or a frost trap.

Hunter game from distance

Hunter must conduct his battle at a distance from the opponent, more precisely, because of the melee zone of the hunter, where he will not be able to use his bow to shoot at the enemy. For this reason, you will have to learn how to kite the enemy, or drain his damage, or both. For example, you can hide behind a pillar in the arena, you can throw a slowing trap and immediately escape. To counter the stealth class, the hunter is "equipped" with a flyer. This is an illumination rocket that prevents the enemy from getting into the inviz. The flyer can also be thrown out of the inviz. This is a serious advantage of the hunter, which should definitely be used.

By default, the hunter class panel includes indicators such as concentration and health. Concentration can be wasted and it can accumulate. It depends on what kind of abilities you use, since some of them require the expenditure of concentration, while others, on the contrary, contribute to its accumulation.

The hunter also has certain distinctive features, such as the ability to set traps. In addition, the hunter can summon pets to him, and they begin to fight fiercely alongside their beloved master. You must use all of these abilities to the fullest in order to successfully play in this class. Don't forget about any of them and use them whenever you can.

Hunter pets in WoW

As for the pets that the hunter is able to summon, there are a lot of them, and all of them are endowed with different capabilities. V patch 5.2"Lord of Thunder" some of the pets may be available for obtaining only one of the factions. At the same time, pets are not attached to any character, which means that they can be exchanged if necessary. You can sell a pet for a profit for yourself or transfer it to some other faction at a special neutral auction, which you can find in Pirate's Bay, Gadgetzan, Everlook and Ratchet.

“Those who hear a strange call change home comfort for a cruel primitive world.
And those who endure the hardships of a new life become hunters. "

Elf huntress

Hunters(eng. hunter) - explorers of wild forests and wastelands, trained in the skills of survival and handling a bow or gun. They exist in deep harmony with nature, and wild animals often become their friends and allies. Of the many creatures of Azeroth, few are able to resist the hunter's call, and fewer still survive his fury. Most hunters strive to maintain balance. natural world along with druids from among their allies. They are masters of stealth, gliding through forests like ghosts. Like shamans, hunters call upon the spirits of earth, wind and fire to help them. Hunter spells are elemental and earth based. Best friend the hunter, sometimes the only one, usually becomes his pet.

The Hunter is one of the oldest known classes in the history of the gaming universe. It represents the unity of a sentient creature and an animal, which is why hunters in Warcraft are not only those who track and kill animals for food, but also keepers of balance. They are aware of the natural course of life or death and their role in all this as not an ordinary researcher, but an active participant. For pursuit, they choose their prey with the same care as the predators that hunters strive to become.

Hunters are an amazing blend of mysticism and crude wilderness survival skills. They can mysteriously invoke aspects of various animals to enhance their own skills: the agility of a monkey, the keen gaze of a hawk, or the quickness of a cheetah. Hunters also use magically enhanced traps to cripple or capture their foe. The shots from their weapons are often enhanced by magic or explosives. Hunters can hold their breath and slow their heart rate to make the enemy think their target is already dead.

The hunter is a life course choice for someone who is rejected by a society that lacks the natural roles of prey and hunter. Unlike druids, whose goal is contemplation and healing of nature, the hunter actively participates in the "Great Hunt", which represents all life. They respect nature, but do not shy away from using artificial tools and inventions.

Races

Hunters are as varied as the climates in different regions, but around the world they are renowned for their amazing ability to track down and strike prey. They exist among every race, although some peoples of Azeroth are more inclined to choose the hunter as their path.

People

Although the playable class became available to people only with the release of the third add-on, no reason was previously indicated for the absence of hunters among them. Most likely, the impossibility of creating a human hunter was one of the conventions of game mechanics, since people have long been known for their ability to adapt to any lifestyle.

Among the many dangerous areas where people live, the survival skills of hunters can be very useful.

Worgen

Cataclysm to World of Warcraft.

Since the worgen available as a playable race have been humans in the past, it should come as no surprise that hunters exist among them. An additional factor can be considered the popularity of small arms among the residents of Gilneas.

Dwarves

Night elfs

Many of the greatest hunters are part of the Sentinels, an elite army that stands guard over the land of the night elves. The most common pets for hunters are night sabers.

Draenei

Source of information in this section - add-on The burning crusade to World of Warcraft.

Among the draenei, hunting was widespread as far back as Draenor, where Talbuk were one of the prey of their hunters. Once on Azeroth, they took up the study of the environment and continued to hunt the animals they encountered, such as the moon deer of Azuremist Island.

High elves and blood elves

The art of hunters among the high elves has passed through generations among the Farstriders. Elven Rangers are arguably the most trained marksmen in the world.

While most of the younger members of the race choose to let the Blood Knight, many still lean toward the proven methods of the Wanderers. Due to their natural lifestyle and proximity to such an organization, blood elf hunters are less arrogant than their brethren who have chosen other paths.

Orcs

“I see you, young man, wandering around the valley with your useless bow, and even in shabby clothes. You remind me of one hunter whom I once knew ... If you want to learn the basics of the profession, come visit me. Hunters lead a solitary life, so an extra friend never hurts. "

The Orcs of the Horde first learned the art of the hunter from the forest trolls of Lordaeron, and since then, many orcs have chosen this path as a convenient way to roam the wilderness.

This section contains reflections or conclusions rather than official information.

Hunting has been common among orcs since their days on Draenor, but probably as a food-gathering profession rather than a fighting class.

Tauren

“Mighty warriors protect our homes. Wise shamans guard our souls and lead us in the path of our ancestors. Druids give us the will of Mother Earth. But you are a hunter, and this calling combines the skills of warriors, shamans and druids. People like you become the soul of our people. "

Tauren are natural hunters. They were masters of the hunt since the dawn of the world. The culture of the race is directly related to the great hunt, which speaks to the importance of hunters among the tauren (or at least the importance of hunting).

Trolls

Jungle trolls, which include the Darkspear tribe, are natural hunters.

* * *

Keizer, whom they call a sergeant, even though I don't see any insignia on him, orders him to stop. He climbs the whitish trunk of a fallen cypress and stands as if sniffing. We wait, sinking almost to the waist in the stinking liquid.

The damp air clogs my lungs with phlegm, and I feel like coughing. But the Flayer closest to me, a wiry fellow with coal-black eyes and ears studded with rings, looked at me angrily. Like he knows what I'm thinking. With a movement of his hand, Keizer sends three scouts forward. Now there are thirty of us left: twenty-two Flayers and eight Jopalla Contractors. I stand in the middle of the column. Swamp water bubbling and squelching under my feet, dusty flies hovering around me. It seems that we have been standing in silence for an eternity. Spiders crawl in my hair. I'm feeling it. Captain Laurit tries to crawl forward, his green and white uniform and tall white cap look completely out of place.

What are we ... - he begins to say.

A flayer named Pig, standing to the captain's left, rushes to my commander and makes a chokehold, covering the officer's mouth with a dirty hand. The captain tries to break free, but Pig only tightens his grip. It's easy to guess where the nickname Pig came from. The torn shape barely accommodates the mighty muscles of this overweight man. His face is streaked with scars, and instead of a bitten off nose, only a stub of flesh flaunts.

The pig squeezes even harder, and the captain's face begins to turn blue. I, like the rest of the Jopallians, go numb with surprise.

Keizer lowers his hand, and the Flayers start off again. The pig lets go of the captain and, with a laugh, throws his face into the water.

He attacked me! This man attacked me! Arrest him! - the captain is indignant, spitting from grass and mucus.

Keizer is not going to arrest Pig. He hits the captain in the throat, silencing him. The laughter of the Flayers is an extremely unpleasant sound. Pig's laughter is even more disgusting.

I thought I had clarified all this in Cerberus. If I order to freeze in the middle of Zelenka, it means we need to shut up and not move, - Keyser's voice rings like a string. He turns to the captain, but he's too busy vomiting in the liquid mud.

We're on the trail of the greenskins. ”The sergeant turns to us. - They are close, no more than a kilometer. Check ammunition and move out. And not a sound. Especially concerns you, the orcish grub.

This is who we are to them. Not the Imperial Guard, not brothers in arms, not the noble soldiers of the Jopallian Contract Companies. It doesn't matter to them that most of us come from respected Upper Hive families. It doesn't matter that our comrades are now defending the walls of the Tartarus Hive from Invasion. We are orc food. No one. Worse than the last waste.

To me, these Flayers are the real waste. I even have more respect for the gangs of teenagers from the Lower Hive of Tartarus.

Like the rest of my platoon, I was not fortunate enough to get a referral to Cerberus Base to train in the jungle war with the Orc Hunters immediately after the outbreak of the war for the priceless Armageddon. We will never return to the Beehive, to our company. Now we are stuck here, as part of the famous squad of "skull gatherers" - the Keizer Flayers.

From time to time, we hear the rumble of guns or the roar of jet engines from afar. There, far out of the jungle, there is a full-scale war. As if - on another planet. They say Yarrick himself has returned. Oh, how I wish I could fight there!

But not here ... It seems to me that the Skull Collectors fought the orcs for so long that they themselves began to resemble their enemies. All of them are painted and studded with piercings, and this is the most innocuous. Some have fangs protruding from their mouths, implanted in the lower jaw. Each of them is hung with hideous trophies - orcish fingers, teeth and ears. They do not have a clear chain of command. They don't respect anyone other than their officers. I was told that they choose their own commanders. Think about it!

We are moving forward again, drowning in a quagmire, viscous, like slime. Huge dragonflies with colorful wings the size of a palm circle above the thickets. They are louder than the propellers of the air machines in the elite quarters of Tartarus. Hand-sized water beetles glide along the water surface.

Pig says we're going through the secretions of huge cicadas and root fern sap. He grins again. The air is so humid that it takes your breath away. These Flayers ... they move so carefully. Not touching anything. They do not leave traces, no water splashes under their feet. Their damn boots don't get stuck in the quagmire. Their clothes don't cling to plants. Passing by, they do not touch the branches. Moving over tree trunks, they do not peel off a single piece of bark. They even manage not to tear the cobwebs - as if they did not pass here at all.

For such big guys, they move with incredible care and skill. We Jopallians seem clumsy fools around them. Last summer, I trained in sabotage for weeks at the Hades Hive Guards Academy. And he succeeded. I thought I was acting well. But how ... how, in the name of the Emperor, who is watching us, how can human movements not leave ripples on the water?

We stop again, and I bend over with exhaustion at the trunk of a huge ginkgo. On the cuff of my tunic, a bunch of wet, shiny yellow eggs had come from out of nowhere. Not larger than a grain of rice. Shuddering, I started to shake them off.

Suddenly, a dirty hand stops my palm. This is the black-eyed Flayer.

Don't touch! Putrid Wasp eggs. Say thank you that she put them in your colorful clothes, and not in your ear, eye or groin.

He peels off my cocoons with a rusty knife.

I look at him, frightened.

Do you want the maggots to eat your nose? Gobbled up your brain?

I shake my head. Hardly anyone would want to go through this.

He just grins.

How your name? I ask.

No ... I mean, your real name?

Well… Rickles, ”he replies, as if puzzled by the question. Then he turns away.

Don't you want to know my name? I tell him.

He turns around and shrugs.

How can I know the name of a piece of orc food that will die by evening? I don't have to say it anyway.

Rage boils up inside me, dry and hot.

My name is Ondy Scalber, Corporal of the Jopallian Contractors, you stupid bastard! Remember it well! Pray to the Emperor for a chance to pronounce it!

He grins as if my anger has impressed him.

But still, he gives me a good punch in the face.

We keep moving. Silent as ever, the Flayers silently punish us for every minor oversight. We enter a grove, through the high crowns of which sunlight breaks through. Bright as laser beams. The flowers here float in the frothy water full of algae. Huge flowers with incredibly bright pink buds. Large insects slowly fly, dropping nectar from disgusting proboscis. They buzz like a chainsword. A whitish snake with rudimentary outgrowths instead of paws slips between my legs. My friend Rokard, an infantryman, begins to whimper. He just discovered that something underwater had bitten off the toe of his boot ... along with two toes.

Rocard and I studied together. I feel sorry for him. His wound. His weakness ...

Two scouts return. We never saw the third one again. They talk with Keizer for a while. Then he quietly and gloomily tells us that there is a nest nearby, and we will have to split up.

Rocard whimpers even louder now and begins to climb a tree. The captain tries to get him to get off. But Rocard just shakes his head - he's too scared.

Keizer takes it off. He sharply throws the knife, and hits exactly in the chest of my friend. The rocard falls with a loud splash into the swamp slurry. His body starts to sink.

It's useless anyway. A burden. Even worse than a burden, ”Keizer explains to the captain.

The captain is speechless with rage and fear at the same time. As we all do. I no longer know what to feel or think.

I was sent to the right flank of the offensive, along with Skull and Pig. With us turned out to be another Flayer named Burner, with a heavy flamethrower in his hands. Of the Jopallians, Private Flinder is with me. In the shade of the horsetail, Pig stops and begins to smear our faces with a foul-smelling substance from a dirty jar. Now we smell no worse than the Flayers, and for the first time I notice that they, too, are covered in this ointment. They are not dirty at all. And so it was conceived.

It's fat, ”Burner grins, checking the hoses of his sooty flamethrower. - Now from you will not carry soap and people.

The pig has just smeared us with orc grease, evaporated from their hideous bodies. I’m twisted with disgust.

The squad is advancing. Flinder and I try to move as quietly as the Flayers. But our attempts are laughable. The skull stops me again and points to a thin vine that I almost hit with my foot. He leads her to the flowering shrub and carefully removes from it a bunch of pomegranates, put on a stretch.

Keizer appears.

Well done, Skull. At the time I noticed.

Actually, I didn't find them, sir. This is Ondi.

I turn around, glad to be remembered.

Well, his leg, anyway ... - adds Skull, and he and the commander laugh out loud.

Damn their dirty skins ...

Crossing a deep pit of mud, I see movement in the distance. I've always been observant. This I am still proud of. I see something dirty green moving across Zelenka. Without further thought, I raise my laser rifle and fire a long burst.

Something huge, green and fanged, bursts out of the thicket, and with a torn chest falls into the water.

And then I find myself in real hell. Orcs emerge from the slime around us, spitting out the tubes through which they breathed under water. They are pale, sinewy, fetid creatures with protruding white fangs and deep-set luminous eyes. They scream and howl. They smell disgusting. They are armed with heavy cleavers, clubs, and crude homemade pistols.

We open fire. Our entire formation simultaneously spews a stream of fire. From laser shots, the damp air instantly becomes dry, filled with the smell of burning and ozone. The rays rip open the green cover, spraying tree sap.

The burner presses the flamethrower trigger, burning the leafy curtain in front of us. The pig roughly gives orders, shouting over the noise of the raging flames.

I shoot automatically, killing the Orcs around. A rusty cleaver cuts off Flinder's head in a fountain of blood and scraps of flesh. I see Captain Lorith, pierced in the stomach with a spear, being lifted out of the water. He screams pitifully, thrashing his limbs through the air. I secured my bayonet a few hours ago, as the Flayers ordered. Now that the charges are over, and there is no time to recharge, I fight hand-to-hand, stab and hack.

Next to me is the Skull. He has snatched the spear from the dead Orc's clutches and is now blowing heads off, yelling like greenskins. The torch opens fire again, a jet of flame from his flamethrower scorching a whole crowd of attacking Orcs. Only charred skeletons fall into the water, dropping drops of boiling fat.

I stab the Orc running towards me with a bayonet. He roars and continues to shoot at me, snatching my rifle from his hands. In huge paws, he clutches a metal ax, already splattered with human brains.

I whip out my auto-pistol and smash its face to smithereens.

Throw it in! Throw it in! - shouts the Skull, throwing me a bunch of grenades.

Together we throw grenades into the dense crowd of Orcs. A blinding flash is followed by a hail of shrapnel, sprinkling the water with millions of small fountains.

The orcs turn around and disappear as if they weren't there.

We will regroup. Five Flayers were killed. I am one of only three Jopallian survivors. Devastated by shock, the three of us lean against the mossy stone. Meanwhile, the freshmen take control of the perimeter and begin to collect trophies.

What do you want? Pig asks, forcing me to turn around.

He saws off the orc's head with a serrated knife.

Ear? Tooth? You deserved.

Nausea twists my stomach. Dark blood spills from the severed orcish neck, spreading foul-smelling stains over the water.

Now make no mistake, Ondy Skalber, - Skull quietly advises me.

Not to be mistaken?

The pig offers you a trophy. I don’t remember the last time he offered such a piece of orc food. A huge honor. Do not try to refuse.

Then give me a tooth, - I say, turning to the gutting corpse Flayer.

Exactly, - Skull agrees. - The guy has a sharp eye. He noticed them first.

The pig nods, snorts, and plunges his knife again.

Sharp eye, you say? This is what he will get. An Eye for a Sharp Eye! - Pig and Skull laugh.

The pig hands me a trophy. It dangles from a crimson optic nerve like a pendant on a chain. I cannot refuse. I tie it to my soldier's medallion. With every movement, he hits his chest like a rubber ball. As soon as the Pig turns his back, I'll throw him out.

Freshmen build what they themselves call "guard graves." Orcish hands and skulls strung on stakes or nailed to trees. The bottom line is that Orcs will no longer come to these places - it smells of death and defeat here. Still, the Flayers mine the remains in case the Orcs return for the corpses.

Keizer calls this an absolutely win-win situation.

Keizer. I look at him through the clearing as the Flayers hang chunks of orc bodies around. He bent over the tortured body of Captain Lorith, who is still alive. The burner says that Keizer is giving the captain his last honors. I see a sharp movement of Keizer's hands. I imagined the last honors in a completely different way.

The nest is already close. We approach in small groups. I find myself in the same squad with Burner, Pig, and two other Flayers - Noose and Daredevil.

A blurry silhouette of a huge tree is guessed in front of the grove covered with haze. It seems to me that this is not one tree, but several, whose trunks have intertwined over time. Branching roots raise a giant thousand-year-old trunk above the water, braided with lianas. Birds chirp in its crowns. Insects grind the bark of its roots. Roots intertwine, close over our heads. It reminds me of the arches of the beautiful collection of the Ecclesiarchy at home in Joppal.

The group is led by the Burner. We can smell promethium emanating from his sooty flamethrower. The daredevil shows me how to make a breathing mask from a piece of cloth soaked in swamp water. Acrid smoke from fires lit by scouts on the other side of the lair is already approaching us.

I breathe through a cloth bandage.

In a moment, we are attacked again. The burner pours fire on the tunnel, but the Orcs get out of the branches we don't even notice. Killing them, I understand that they are young orc, little Orcs, my height up to the waist. They screech and roar from the smoke. Children. That is what we would call them.

But I don't care anymore. Stranglethorn and I turn into a side corridor and break through thickets of black roots. We crash into a crowd of young Orcs trying to fight back with short spears and broken blades.

This does not save them from laser fire.

This way, Sharp Eye! - Calls me a stranglehold.

I run into a cave formed by roots. The daredevil and the stranglehold are following me. We can still hear the rumble of the Burner flamethrower nearby, feel the burning promethium.

Wild Orcs surround us, many of them are adults, huge creatures. Some are armed small arms... The stranglehold is torn apart by a burst of bolts. His left hand, torn from the body, hits my shoulder.

I kill the Orc with the bolter. Then Daredevil and I pour automatic fire on the cave. Sprays of green blood fill the air.

The Orc rushes at me with a roar, blade clenched in his powerful fist the size of my head. My rifle is out of charge. I hesitate. The orc sees an eye dangling around my neck, which seems to confuse him. That's enough for me. I drive the bayonet hard into his chin so that the blade comes out of the back of his head. In its death throes, Orc's huge jaw breaks the barrel of my rifle. Right hand I raise the orc cleaver, holding the auto-pistol in my left. I knock out the orc brains with the blade. With a pistol I wound, maim, kill. I am already covered in orc blood, the same savage as those with whom I fight. Cruel. Embittered. Insane.

Jopall now seems quite distant. Much further than before.

And I know that I will never be able to go back there.

Not now.

Not after all this.

The burner appears behind us and yells at us to duck. The daredevil falls, and I, too, sink to the ground. The fire passes over our heads in an incandescent stream, burning out all living things in the room.

We laugh as we get out of the nest. The surviving Contractors, Calder and Spaff, look at me like I'm crazy. I myself can imagine how I look now: covered with soot and dirt and a crust of caked blood. But I don't give a damn. I don't care what they think. I don't give a damn about anything.

Keizer fights the Orc Boss. Expelled from the shelter by smoke, severely wounded in the stomach, he was cornered in a swamp to the east of the den. Keizer went one-on-one with him. We're going to take a look. Nobody interferes. We just watch, scream, howl. Like Orcs.

The Orcish leader is a hundred kilograms heavier than Keizer, with massive muscles, his teeth are like daggers, and his fangs protrude from his mouth like tusks. He is dressed in armor of a turtle shell, in one hand a curved sword, in the other a dagger. The laceration in the abdomen exudes a foul-smelling liquid, causing the creature to bend over.

Keyser is thin and wiry, wearing a tattered camouflage uniform and a vest, his skin covered in white paint. He is armed with one machete. They circle, exchanging blows. We surround the clearing, bouncing, shouting, chanting "Kei-zer! Kei-zer!" Like animals. The boss lunges away from Keizer's blade and cuts a decent chunk of meat off Keizer's leg with his sword. In response, the sergeant stabs directly into the gash in the monster's abdomen, causing it to fall in a fountain of mucus.

The boss rises heavily to his feet. Keizer is now limping due to an open wound on his leg. The Orc's blow tore at the skin, revealing pink flesh and shiny white bone. I am amazed how he can continue to fight with such a terrible wound.

But he continues. Keizer throws himself through the foaming water and slashes the Orc in the arm. The boss drops his sword.

Keizer's next blow goes in a wide counterclockwise arc, and his blade pierces the Orc's throat at the hilt.

Blood spurts from the wound. Emitting a gurgling sound, the leader falls on his back, lifting the walls of water with his carcass. And dies.

We shout Keizer's name so loudly that leaves begin to crumble from the branches.

Ondy Skalber is dead. Once upon a time he died somewhere in the treacherous jungles of Armageddon.

Now I barely remember him. He must have been a good guy.

What I have become now - only time will tell. I hate it, but I also love it at the same time. This is the simplicity of life and death that attracts me so much. To hurt and kill. To be a better hunter, a better killer than the critters we hunt. Be a Sharp Eye.

Someday, I will probably remember Jopall, remember my then life. Probably. Maybe I'll wake up in the middle of the night screaming when I dream about all this. Or maybe not.

Zelenka is waiting for me. There I will do my duty, in the name of the Emperor. There I will find my glory.
