Apis c30 homeopathy indications for use. Apis (homeopathy, indications for use). Composition and form of release of Apis

Honey bee. Apium virus. Honey bee venom. Class: Insecta (insects). Tinctures are prepared from a whole bee or from dilution of poison in alcohol. Apis is a large remedy that is only partially understood and little used, mainly due to a misunderstanding of the intrinsic nature of this remedy. Kent probably had the same feeling when he said in his lecture on Apis: “We must at the general beginning of trials see the disease that they resemble, for we do not always see the drug in an advanced state.

We see a disease in the process of development and should be able to see it at the beginning. As the disease was at the beginning, so the remedy was at the beginning. What has a similar beginning may have a similar end. " It is the subtle changes in the behavior of people at the beginning of the disease that most often predict and determine the pathological changes at the end. The main purpose of this materia medica is to be able to codify these subtle changes.

In order to understand the internal pathology and distinctive features of this very interesting drug, one must look at the action that a bee sting produces in the human body, and its side effects: sudden edematous swelling that feels hot, burns, accompanied by stinging pain and makes the person cry out because of its suddenness and intensity.

Few of those stung by a bee will not cry out in pain. Sometimes this effect in a very short time can reach the scale of a severe generalized allergic reaction and become so serious as to threaten the life of a person sensitive to its poison. There is obvious aggravation from heat and touch. We all know perfectly well how bees do not like touch or interference and how they do not tolerate heat very well.

The entire pathology of this remedy is built mainly on these external manifestations, as well as some other characteristics of the bee, which we will discuss below. If we bear in mind this picture and try to understand its analogous effect on the rest of the human body, then we will be able to know the effect of the drug from the very beginning to its various developed pathological states.

Apis edema, characterized by burning and stinging pain, will naturally increase from touch. You cannot get close to a bee, and the Apis type definitely doesn't like being touched. The Apis patient does not want to touch his painful areas - neither physical nor psychological. In addition, the warmth of a room or the heat emitted by a fire or a warm bath with its hot vapors can not only intensify the pathology that existed before them, but also cause it. A very strong feature of this remedy is aggravation from touch.

For example, if there is inflammation in the abdomen, touching the abdomen can cause stiffness and tension in the abdominal muscles. Whatever Apis acts on the skin or mucous membranes or serous membranes, it usually causes edema, effusion, water retention in tissues. Water is trapped in certain parts of the body and cannot escape through natural paths.

This pronounced tendency can lead to anasarca. “The face is sometimes very swollen, the eyelids look like wineskins, the palatine tongue hangs down like a wineskin (emphasis mine - J. Vithoulkas), the walls of the abdomen are very thick, and the epigastrium is under pressure, and the mucous membranes in any part of the body look like if they are pierced, water will pour out of them, ”writes Kent.

With that said, it is understandable that this drug should not have any desire to drink water. This is one of the materia medica preparations that is most thirstless due to water retention in the tissues: any additional water will simply worsen the situation.

However, in the presence of dehydration due to pathologies such as cholera in infants, typhus, diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, even abscesses, the opposite can be seen: unquenchable thirst. When water is retained in the body, thirst is noticeably absent, but when a pathological loss of fluids is detected, excessive thirst can be observed.

Edema or effusions of this drug are not small random events, but the main pathognomonic manifestation of its pathology. As mentioned, this drug has a strong tendency to collect and retain water in certain preferred areas. By acting on cellular tissues such as eyes, face, throat, uvula, ovaries, etc., it causes edema. By acting on the membranes that cover the heart, brain, or lungs, it causes an effusion. Kent writes: “The outer part of a person is his skin and mucous membranes. When we look at a person from the center to the periphery, we think about what is hidden deepest in the brain, heart and internal organs, which are vital, although their membranes are on the outside. Apis acts on external things, on shells (emphasis mine). You will notice how often it affects the skin and tissues close to the skin, as well as the membranes of organs such as the pericardium.

It causes severe inflammation with effusion ... so we see that Apis is especially effective on the membranes, that is, the skin, mucous membranes and the membranes of organs. All such remarks are extremely important in the study of any remedy, but, again, we should not stick to these ideas superficially. For example, in some cases Apis, acting on the kidneys, blocks the passage of water, causing anasarca. Can we say that this is something external?

Edema or swelling usually appears with great speed and intensity. In such cases, there is a very rapid effect on the lower extremities. An example is a person who is not feeling well with severe enterocolitis. When you visit a sick person in the morning, after the first visit, you are told that he has made very little urine. You notice the patient's swollen legs, which may be twice their normal size, and then watch in amazement as this swelling moves up to the thighs literally by the hour. This will most likely be an Apis patient.

An analogy can be drawn between the retention of water in these patients and the way in which strong emotions are contained, creating an “excitable” state. Apis people have strong emotions that are not easily expressed. These are people of passion and strength, especially in the sexual sphere, but they feel awkward when they try to express these feelings.

For this reason, they hide their emotions, and the pressure of these hidden emotions can cause extreme sexual fervor, which does not find a deep outlet, which therefore leads in some cases to nymphomania.
It is interesting to note the tendency of the bee to find "nectar" and impulsively "attach" to this sweetness, while at the same time reacting aggressively in case of interference in its activity. She attacks with blind passion both the nectar and the intruder who tries to approach or touch her. There is a very interesting similarity here with the Apis personality: having found "honey", they cannot tear themselves away from it.

This is not a matter of immorality, but of passion. The woman enters into an extramarital affair with the idea of ending it as soon as possible, but falls into the trap and cannot leave. It's too tempting for her sexuality, although she continues to respect her husband and doesn't want to break up the marriage. She can truly enjoy both her husband and her lover. This story may seem quite common, especially in Mediterranean countries, but it is the result of a pathology in people of the Apis type. They are so addicted to sex play and enjoy it to such an extent that they become lustful. It should be understood that they achieve these states due to their inability to express their emotions and erotic needs in a natural and convenient way.

Another striking similarity to the honey bee is that the bee is constantly busy, constantly working. She works in search of "nectar", as if she gets great pleasure from it. Perhaps it is important that we prescribe this drug mainly for two mental states: one of them is a kind of "busy psychosis" in which the patient is constantly busy with business, and the second is erotic psychosis! Such analogies may seem "unscientific", but they help to understand and remember the essential features of the drug.

Both erotic psychosis and sexual mania, especially in women, are part of the mental pathology of this drug. This drug may be needed in manic-depressive states, consisting of eroticism during the manic state and complete apathy during the depressive state. One of the characteristics of Apis is the ailment of sexual abuse. From the husband of an Apis patient one can hear: "This woman is terrible in bed." By this he means that she is very active and lustful, that her sexual behavior is almost frenzied, she needs constant stimulation and, apparently, is never satisfied. It is a similar condition to Cantharis: it is true that Apis is indeed an antidote to the action of Cantharis on the genitourinary organs. These two drugs are antidotes to each other if the disorder is concentrated in the urogenital area.

The above description should not give the student the mistaken impression that Apis women are "nymphomaniac", it only means that they usually have an increased sexual appetite, which can sometimes reach such extremes. With this remedy, nymphomania or sexual mania in women can be observed coexisting, alternating with or stimulated by cystitis.

Another interesting characteristic of Apis in women is a predisposition to cysts in the ovaries or ovarian enlargement, especially on the right. The cyst can be huge and can occur in a very short time. When you encounter an ovarian cyst in a woman who is sexually frustrated, and the cyst has developed in a short time, is huge, soft and full of serous fluid, then you most likely have a case of Apis.

It should be remembered here that the occurrence of cysts is proportional to the frustration of a woman's sexual needs. I have seen how in women who for a long time experienced the stress of "connection" with sexual frustration, under the influence of the high potency of Apis, huge cysts of this kind disappeared in a very short time. Apis also has a strong tendency towards jealousy, which is to be expected in women who are so sexually driven. You can observe the ailments resulting from jealousy.

It is interesting to note that a person who emotionally suffers from some kind of frustration associated with love often has a weakened heart: such a person may have a heart complication, for example, pericarditis, from a simple cold that progresses to bronchitis. Apparently, after a decrease in the body's resistance, an organ that was chronically threatened is more vulnerable to destruction.

Although this theory may seem like a gross oversimplification of the complex and very sophisticated biological processes taking place in the human body, nevertheless, you will often catch such a connection in your patients, if you look deeply at the real dynamic etiology of each case. Such capture requires an assessment of each case at a level much deeper than the level of macroscopic pathology.

Just as the heart of Apis can be upset by romantic frustration, the reproductive organs and kidneys can be damaged as a result of sexual frustration. The fact that Apis is a jealous remedy may cause confusion with Lachesis, especially in view of the other common characteristics common to both remedies — aggravation from heat and touch and amelioration from cold. However, Apis jealousy is different from Lachesis jealousy. The jealousy of Lachesis is much crazier and more unfounded than that of Apis. Lachesis is tormented by his suspicions, but Apis is not. Apis jealousy usually occurs for the following reasons: they are sexually passionate people, whose intense sexual behavior can approach manic sexual behavior, if not become on par with him, but they are awkward in expressing their feelings and emotions.

This combination of clumsiness and sexual fervor makes them feel constant insecurity about their partner. Apis women, for example, constantly fear that they might lose their husband to another woman, that he will have as intense sex with other women as in their marriage. However, it will be very difficult for them to discuss such concerns.

They will notice certain signs in their partner, for example, flirtatious behavior, and will not say anything, however, they will begin to be devoured by the poison of jealousy. In the end, after many such "signs" their suspicious nature, previously dormant, explodes into a fit of jealousy. In their anger, they will say things that are deeply offensive to the other person and will later regret it. They feel awkward, lacking in smoothness, and admire how others can express themselves so easily, smoothly, and calmly, even on matters such as jealousy. After several such explosions, their sexual desire is suppressed and a pathological process begins, ending with a tumor or ovarian cyst, as if the sexual energy that is not able to receive expression acts destructively.

At this stage, they try to laugh and look happy, even though they feel unhappy. Our books say, "Feigns fun while being depressed." This is an important key feature of this drug. They do not want to show their unhappiness, and moreover, they try to create the opposite impression - they pretend to be happy.

In our books we read: "exaggerated joy." This is a characteristic condition bordering on hysteria or mental imbalance. “Laughter at adversity,” another characteristic mentioned in the literature, should also be understood as an unbalanced expression of emotion. Probably because misfortune has touched them, they feel so uncomfortable that they burst out with laughter instead of tears. There is definitely a hysterical element in Apis that makes these patients laugh at serious things, sometimes with a stupid or stupid expression on their faces. They understand that this behavior makes them funny, but there is nothing they can do about it.

It's not that they don't complain, of course, they often express dissatisfaction and find fault everywhere and behind everyone. However, at other times they try to hide their unhappiness by maintaining a joyous facade, especially if they are lovingly interested in someone. To believe in the awkwardness and clumsiness of Apis, one must see them.

No matter how careful they try to be, they'll drop two or three glasses as they reach across the table for salt. Walking along a completely flat street, they somehow manage to suddenly stumble and fall to the ground. If you ask them what happened, why they fell so suddenly and easily, they will not answer: they themselves do not know. They feel awkward and awkward. Lying in bed at night, they will overturn the table and chair near the bed, even if this table and chair had been in this place for a long time.

They walk as if they are in a hurry to get something very quickly, regardless of the topography of the area. This clumsiness is the exact opposite of the bee's famous ability to navigate and find objects in space. Many Apis patients look like they have lost this ability, especially when they are in a hurry. They give the impression of being internally busy or preoccupied, as if they are scattered and knowledge of the location of external objects is not registered in their minds. Kent goes so far as to say that this lack of coordination is the result of a defect in the nervous system.

When they try to express their emotions, they show the same awkwardness. They express themselves "clumsily", finding it difficult to express their emotions smoothly. They are deprived of a natural and easy manner of self-expression, although strong emotions are hidden in them, and prefer to restrain their emotions, and if they do express them, they do it "abruptly".

Apis people are withdrawn, not because this is their nature, but because they do not know how to express themselves. It is this state that makes them often feel irritable, discouraged, and tearful. They want to cry all the time. Kent writes: “The symptoms themselves are great sadness, constant tears for any reason for no reason and anxiety about everything ..., extreme irritability, the patient begs for trouble for any reason. Absolutely indulgent. Not able to apply what could make him happy or joyful. " They try to hide their suffering, but they stay awake at night with depressing thoughts. Gradually, they get to the point that they are ready to cry for the slightest reason. They can also react aggressively and quarrel for even minor reasons.

The state described above can arise after suffering love disappointment, grief, or as a result of some other reason that makes a person unhappy. For example, a woman, hearing that she cannot have children due to the fact that her ovaries are full of cysts, can immediately fall into such a state. These people try to be kind, to behave kindly, even cordially. Only when irritated do they become furious, and their tongue becomes like a bee sting.

They suddenly explode and say things that could truly offend the other person. They may lose control and want to smash things, hit objects around them or themselves, "banging their heads against walls or objects." However, Apis is the only remedy in the materia medica that suffers so much after the anger has passed. After such an explosive release of uncontrollable emotion, they feel sick for a long time. Women develop red plaques on the face and outside of the throat, they may suffer from headaches, etc., while men have a fear of a possible heart attack or stroke. Anger seems to cause a rush of blood to the head, which triggers subconscious fear.

Another fear of Apis, which I saw only once, but it was very strong, is the fear of birds. He was so strong that the patient said, "I would rather have a snake next to me than a bird." This remedy, like Natrum muriaticum, is characterized by ailments from grief and overexcitation of emotions such as anger and rage, fear, jealousy, with additional etiological factors being bad news and mental stress. It is a drug that is greatly influenced by the state of emotions.

For example, one of the characteristic symptoms of Apis is the following: "Paralysis of the entire right side of the body after severe mental shock." It is also possible that twitching or intense motor activity appears on one side of the body, while the other remains motionless, as if paralyzed.

Apis is considered complementary to Natrum muriaticum, and they complement each other in both sequences. After Natrum muriaticum has removed many of the effects of grief from the patient, certain bodily symptoms may appear, indicating Apis, which will be deeply and permanently cured by this remedy. These two remedies also have similar properties, such as clumsiness, hysteria, withdrawal of personality, and complete self-forgetfulness in sexual relations, but Natrum muriaticum is always more romantic and sophisticated, while Apis is coarser and more down-to-earth sexually.

Apis is very passionate and treats others rudely, especially on an emotional and sexual level. Natrum muriaticum, on the other hand, is a more sophisticated and sensitive person who takes great care not to offend others, and strives not to do so. Both do not openly show their sexual desires at the beginning of their acquaintance, but, having entered into a relationship with their partner, they can behave very lasciviously. Women of the Apis type, in particular, are not able to easily come into contact with representatives of the opposite sex, and therefore can suppress themselves for a long time, but, having entered into a relationship, they give themselves free rein.

From the description of Apis given so far, the reader will understand that Apis is in many ways an explosive drug. We see the same explosive character, the same suddenness and the same rapidity in the development of diseases in which it is indicated. For example, a sudden explosive effusion into the meninges may occur and the sudden pressure causes the child to cry out in pain. This Apis symptom, commonly referred to as "cerebral cry", is well known and occurs mainly with inflammation of the meninges or in conditions characterized by increased pressure of cerebrospinal fluid on the brain.

The pain in Apis comes on suddenly and pierces so violently that it makes the person cry out. It seems that this scream or cry comes from the very depths of the body, causing chills in the hearer. The screams of children in sleep, during teething or polio vaccinations are symptoms of Apis. Apis is indicated in cases of hydrocephalus accompanied by the same screams.

In heart conditions such as pericarditis, there is the same intensity, the same suddenness, and the same intense effusion. “In those cases of intense and fast-flowing diphtheria, when the whole throat is filled with edematous swelling, the uvula hangs down like a transparent bag filled with water, and the patient is threatened with death from suffocation due to the actual closure of the throat and larynx, there is no drug that could compare with Apis, ”writes Nash. However, Kent gives another indication: “Apis treats diphtheria, especially when there is severe inflammation and the film forms slowly or imperceptibly and in small quantities ... ... There is continuous swelling around the throat and mouth and it seems that if it is pierced, water will flow from it. " Such vivid descriptions should remain in the student's memory, because it is an impression of the condition that will provide the key to the correct remedy.

In cases of congestive plethora or inflammation of the brain - for example, meningitis or meningencephalitis - after a very short time, there will also be strong excitement, reaching the degree of delirium. Excitement will also occur with hydrocephalus. This delirium is most noticeable at night in sleep and reaches its maximum after midnight: chatty delirium, "sexual delirium." All this happens at night, and the next morning the patient is depressed, apathetic and completely uncommunicative. Midnight aggravation is a characteristic of this remedy. In similar conditions, hallucinations are observed: that the patient has died or is dying, that someone is lying in her bed with her, that there are people nearby, that she is pregnant, or that the tongue is made of wood.

And then, especially with mild fever, fatigue, weakness and complete apathy are observed, which can reach a completely unconscious state. They are unaware of anything that is happening around. They don't seem to understand what they are being told. If you prick with a pin, there is no sign of touch, even when water is poured into the patient's mouth, he does not make any attempt to swallow it. There are no signs of sight, hearing, or touch. In some cases, there is an interesting key symptom in the psychic realm - the feeling that life is fading away, with resignation to death.

They feel that they will die soon - on the next breath or in a few minutes - and it seems that they do not resist it, as if they have no energy to resist. This sensation is most likely caused by shortness of breath: it seems that they have to inhale in order to store enough strength to utter even a word. This is not a fear of dying, but a premonition, an anticipation of death, a feeling that they are “leaving,” and they have come to terms with this fact. Sometimes it seems as if they are tempted to die, as if their protective barriers were suddenly completely lifted. In chronic mental illness, we see delirium during menstruation or delirium with menstrual difficulty. In such cases, it is possible that due to frustration and, again, sexual needs, female hormones are unbalanced.

Apis has allergic conditions that come on suddenly, unexpectedly, violently and all over the body. Even anaphylactic shock is possible. In this regard, the French dentist Jean Meury writes: “Treatment for anaphylactic shock: the worst kind of shock is shock that happens suddenly. The patient suffers (edema of the glottis), red spots appear on the throat and face, in which there is a burning sensation and stinging pains, the condition worsens from heat.

This is a picture of Apis, a drug that we have always been able to rely on. A few grains of Apis 15 (or 200 Korsakov's dilution), placed on the patient's tongue, immediately stop the shock, and the symptoms usually disappear while the grains dissolve. " Apis also corresponds to cases of allergic conjunctivitis, when the eyes become red and inflamed within a few hours, and the eyelids and tissues around the eyes become so swollen that they almost cover the entire eye. This swelling can be so large that it interferes with vision. Apis will be indicated in cases where the kidneys suddenly fail and the next day there is a huge swelling of the lower extremities. You can almost see the swelling increase from hour to hour. This picture can be seen in severe complications of serious acute diseases or in chronic conditions such as advanced ulcerative colitis.

General information

Among the general characteristics of this remedy stands out aggravation from any heat: for example, in a warm room, and even worse if warm air is blown on the patient, from an open fire, and even worse in a hot bath or sauna. Typical Apis patients will never go into a sauna or even a mildly warm bath, as this will cause them to suffocate and dizziness, headaches, congestive plethora of the head, and a red skin rash may appear.

“If the brain is unwell,” writes Kent, “if you put an Apis patient with congestive cerebral congestion in a warm bath, he will have seizures ... If a child needs Apis with congestive cerebral congestion, the seizures are worse from bathing in hot water.” The patient wants to open the windows and cool the room, even if he has chills. The fact that they feel that they cannot breathe, that they will suffocate in a warm room is one of the characteristics of this drug. He will take off what he was hiding with, even when suffering from chills, since the heat makes him feel uncomfortable. Cold baths soothe allergic skin conditions. Here we can point to the sophisticated ventilation system used by bees to survive the heat of summer.

Another common symptom is aggravation from touch. Apis is extremely sensitive to touch, like Lachesis, and indeed in such cases Lachesis is often given first. This deterioration manifests itself not only in the condition of the skin, where there may be allergic exanthema, nodular swelling, erysipelas, etc., but also in cases of intestinal inflammation, enteritis, cholera infantum, ulcerative colitis or ordinary diarrhea, when the patient cannot stand any touching the stomach.

With cysts in the ovary, inflammation or problems in the uterus, the same sensitivity is observed. Even hair is sensitive to touch. Apis complaints are violent and quick and can become very serious in a short time.

First of all, the right side is affected: the ailments begin on the right and spread from there to the left. However, one should never hesitate to give Apis for the cyst on the left if the other characteristics of the drug are present. At the beginning of my practice, I skipped a few of these because I thought I had to absolutely trust and stick to books. Later I used Apis with success for cysts or an enlarged ovary on the left. In the lying position many of the Apis complaints are aggravated, and in the sitting position they are better. General prostration, trembling fatigue.

Apis can be an important remedy in the ill effects of acute eruptions and exanthema which have been suppressed or have not developed properly. At the same time, many different ailments and diseases may appear: anxiety, delirium, convulsions, meningitis, hydrocephalus, sore throat, shortness of breath, asthmatic breathing, diarrhea, nephritis, edema with scanty urine, cysts of all types, etc. Apis cause cysts of all kinds, which are usually enormous and occur very quickly. Apis should also be considered for cystic tumors.

Head and dizziness
In the head, as one would expect, there is a strong congestive plethora, a feeling of fullness and disorientation in time and space, which is felt as dizziness. Headache with vertigo. The head is disoriented in time and space and dizziness with constant pressing pain above and around the eyes. Vertigo with disorientation in time and space, sometimes very violent, aggravated while sitting and reaching extreme degree when lying down with eyes closed.

The whole brain feels tired, as if drowsy, and crawling. Congestive congestion of the head is much worse in a warm room and ameliorated in the open air. Most head ailments are worse from a warm room, warm bathing, and ameliorated by open air and cold compresses. Stagnant plethora of the head before menses, while stagnant plethora increases inversely with the volume of menstrual flow. Feeling as if the head is full, as if there is too much blood in it. Great congestion of blood to the head. Feeling that the head is too big, swollen, which involuntarily forces the patient to look in the mirror.

Feeling that the head is large, confusion, confusion. Headaches are, for the most part, pressing in nature, as if the head is bursting. Sometimes the pressure becomes much stronger, and then explosive headaches occur. Many types of headaches - such as dull, pressing pain and throbbing in the head - are relieved by pressure from the hands.

Headaches are known to worsen at 10 a.m. and continue until the evening or around 6 p.m. Headache worse when reading and in a warm room. Forgetfulness during headache. In severe forms of brain disease, the patient buries his head in pillows, turns his head from side to side, or tilts back hard. With diarrhea, the headache decreases with increasing weakness.

Eyes
This remedy covers conjunctivitis, trachoma and, in general, most severe inflammations of the eyes and their deeper tissues. Huge swelling around the eyes in allergic conditions, with conjunctivitis or kidney problems will make you think about this drug first. The eyelids may be red, swollen, and severely swollen. The bumps are always impressive and can sometimes completely cover your eyes. Burning and stinging pains. Sensitivity to bright light. Kent gives a vivid description: “Inflammation: erysipelas, leaving a thickening of the mucous membrane and eyelids and white spots above the eyes, opacities. Inflammation with opacities is very extensive or in the form of plaques. In an active state, the inflamed condition is accompanied by swelling of the eyelids, which can be expected after a bee sting. The swelling of the mucous membranes of the eyelids is so huge that they twist and look like pieces of raw meat. Liquid is poured onto the cheeks in large quantities. "

On close examination of the eyes and the immediately adjacent areas, it is difficult not to recognize the case of Apis, whatever the pathology from which the patient suffers. Most of the time, there will be characteristic swelling around the eyes, and the right eye will be more noticeably affected. Inflammations are ameliorated by cold compresses and aggravated by radiated heat and bright light. Inflammation, with violent shooting pains. Keratitis, with shooting pains in the eyes, swollen eyelids and conjunctiva. Keratitis, with hot, burning tears running out in a violent stream on opening the eyes. Violent inflammation, with terrible shooting pains.

Excessive lacrimation, sometimes caused by a burning sensation at the edges of the eyelids. The edges are tender and painful. The eyes are weak and easily fatigued, especially from straining during work such as sewing. Erysipelas affecting the face and spreading to the eye most often requires Apis.

The erysipelas starts on the right and spreads to the left, but the opposite can happen. Severe conjunctivitis with photophobia, but because of pain the patient cannot stand being covered. Corneal ulcers. Ulcers along the edges of the eyelids. Extended; blood vessels. Retinal disinsertion. The entire conjunctiva of the sclera and the cornea are thickened and full of blood vessels, the patient does not feel the slightest light, cannot indicate where the windows were.

Ears
Hearing impaired. Itching of the ears and palate. Redness and swelling of both ears. Inflammation of the middle ear after scarlet fever. Pain in the left ear when chewing and while eating. With hydrocephalus, the child raises his hands to the back of the ears.

Nose
Coldness of the tip of the nose, when the throat becomes sore, is a very good indication of Apis. In Apis people, the tip of the nose seems to be especially sensitive. They don't like being touched in this place. With erysipelas, the nose is red, swollen and edematous. The tip of the nose is cold. Chronic rhinitis. Coryza, dry in the morning, thin in the evening. Coryza is worse in warm air, in a warm room. Runny nose comes on suddenly in the afternoon, about 4 pm, polyps.

Face
The general appearance of Apis' face gives the impression that it is swollen and edematous, especially around the eyes. Either the entire face (for example, with scarlet fever), or the cheeks (for a rash or lupus), or the area around the eyes or under the eyes (for kidney disease) may swell. The expression may be disturbing, as if the patient is dying.

The skin color is very pale at first, and then takes on all shades of red to bluish-red, depending on the disease. In diseases of the kidneys, respiratory tract and other internal organs, such as scarlet fever, if the rash is suppressed, the face can be very pale, but with fevers, allergies or skin rashes, it can be colored in different shades of red. Generally, however, it is bluish gray and shiny.

If the face is red and hot, the patient wants to wash it in cold water. Cold compresses help with inflammation and swelling of the face. Erysipelas begins on the right side of the face and spreads through the nose to the left. Erysipelas appears periodically. The lips are dry with a black stripe in the red part. Sharp pains in the lips, radiating to the gums and head, and finally to the whole body. Roughness and tension (rigidity) of the lips, especially the upper. Chapped lips. Twisted lips. Lupus erythematosus with a disseminated, dark, reddish rash with scales. Red stripes down from the nose along the cheeks. Itching and stinging pains in the face.

Mouth
Swelling of tongue and lips. Swelling of the tongue on one side. The swelling is so severe that the swelling can fill the entire mouth (with glossitis). Burn sensation along the entire edge of the tongue, as if it were irritated, with small papular swellings along the edge. The gums are covered with pouches, look watery, the child often wakes up with harsh screams (during teething). The tongue is deep red and covered with vesicles that burn and sting (scarlet fever). Dryness, bright redness, burning, shooting pains, and swelling of the tongue. The tip of the tongue is red. The tongue feels like wood. Tongue dry, shiny, yellow, swollen. Tongue cracked, painful, ulcerated. Ulcers on the palate. Itching of the palate and the entire mouth and ears, gradually descending into the larynx and bronchi and making breathing difficult. In severe conditions, as in typhus, the tongue protrudes with difficulty, trembles and gets stuck in the teeth. The tongue sticks out spontaneously (meningitis in children). Grinding and grinding of teeth (with meningitis or hydrocephalus). Bad breath.

Throat
Apis has all sorts of severe throat problems, from simple inflammation to ulcers and diphtheria. The overall picture consists of smooth and shiny, as if varnished, swelling and swelling and burning stinging pains. He has acquired a very good reputation for diphtheria, especially among the old homeopaths who have had many of these patients. Kent writes: “Apis treats diphtheria, especially when there is severe inflammation and the film forms slowly and imperceptibly in small quantities, and the gradual progress that it causes is somewhat surprising, the organs are swollen, and the soft palate is swollen like a water sac, the uvula is translucent and hangs down like a bag of water. There is continuous swelling around the throat and mouth and it seems that if it is pierced, water will flow from it. "

Sometimes with a severe cold with a sore throat - pharyngitis - the palatine uvula becomes so inflamed and lengthened that when air is swallowed, it is trapped by contraction of the esophagus and retracted. In such cases, the uvula is very long and hangs down from a thin leg, and there is edematous swelling at the tip, and the entire pharynx is inflamed and painfully burns.

In such severe inflammations, the aggravation comes from the heat, especially the warm air blowing from the radiator, and at the same time, some relief comes from the cold drink. The inflammation is usually severe, so the relief is not very strong, but it is definitely there. Aversion to warm drinks. The mouth, throat and pharynx are bright red, smooth, as if varnished. Viscous mucus in throat, very disturbing.

A feeling of constriction in the throat, as if a foreign body was stuck there; worse, tight clothing. Splinter-like pain on swallowing or stinging pain. The tonsils are so swollen that they interfere with swallowing. Deep ulcers. Dryness without thirst, burning in throat down to stomach. Vascular goiter, cysts in the thyroid gland, especially in combination with ovarian disease.

Stomach
Thirst-free when water is retained in the body and even when fluid is lost.

Lack of thirst with ascites, renal failure, cerebrospinal meningitis, hydrothorax. Intense thirst, the patient wants to drink all the time (during typhus or severe diarrhea). When thirsty, the patient wants a little vinegar in the water, otherwise it seems tasteless to him. Gastritis or duodenal ulcer, with Burning heat in the stomach up to the esophagus.

Pain in the epigastrium, the patient cannot stand touching, even the bed sheet is unbearable. Desire for salads, especially with celery, and sometimes a strong desire for meat fat. He wants to drink milk, which soothes pains and burning sensations. In manic-depressive states, especially in a state of mania, appetite and sleep are completely lost (for four weeks). Belching tastes like food, worse after drinking water. Desire to vomit.

Vomiting of everything eaten and mucus. Vomiting of bile after gastric emptying. Vomiting and retching with great anxiety. Feeling of discomfort in the stomach. Extreme pain and soreness on touch or pressure in stomach area with vomiting. Nausea followed by yellow and bitter vomiting.

Stomach
The walls of the abdomen are very painful when touched or pressed and hurt, they feel almost like a bruise, not only with all kinds of inflammation of the intestines or peritoneum, but also with ascites, they are very tense or tight and sensitive even to light pressure or touch.

Bowel soreness when sneezing or pressing on it. Burning and stinging pains are characteristic of this remedy. There is a feeling of fullness in the abdomen, it is obviously swollen. Ascites, peritonitis. The abdomen is full, swollen and painful on touch or pressure, with swollen feet and scanty urination is the typical picture of this remedy. Sharp burning pain under short ribs, worse on the left. Violent pains in the abdomen, worse in a horizontal position and ameliorated by sitting upright.

Violent pains across the lower abdomen, with bitter vomiting and diarrhea. With severe acute diarrhea, a feeling of discomfort, similar to anxiety or severe malaise, deep in the abdomen; it causes great anxiety in patients, they cannot say if this anxiety is purely psychological in nature or if the intestines are really moving. I have seen a similar symptom in Calcarea carbonica. Inner trembling with anxiety. Agitated bowels, abdominal pain with febrile tremors.

Rectum
This remedy has diarrhea with vomiting, which makes it a good remedy for cholera childhood or severe gastroenteritis. Feeling of an electric shock in the rectum, followed by an urge to stool. Feeling of irritation in the anus with diarrhea. Stool acrid and excoriates anus. Watery diarrhea. The stool is yellowish, greenish, watery. Diarrhea before menses.

During menopause, women have chronic diarrhea with discharge of blood and mucus. Painless diarrhea, relieving chest complaints. Diarrhea six to eight times every day, stool smells like carrion (decaying animal). Diarrhea in children, mixed with mucus and blood, which makes it look like "tomato sauce". The anus bulges out and seems to remain open, "defecation occurs with every movement of the body, as if the anus is constantly open" (with ascites). Colorless water seeps out of the rectum. Loose stools in the morning. Many diseases, such as ovarian inflammation, meningitis, prostate diseases, etc., are often accompanied not by diarrhea, but by difficult stools, constipation, hard stools, stool retention and prolonged periods of constipation alternating with diarrhea. Chronic constipation. Constipation or hard, regular stools during menses.

Urinary organs
Apis has a profound effect on the genitourinary organs. Its main action is to delay the cessation of urination. Scanty urine comes out in drops. Many attempts, but only a few drops come out. The patient has to press for a long time before urine appears (prostatitis); a little hot urine seeps out. In heart disease, urine is scanty.

The entire urethra is irritated; burning, raw pain, soreness, tightness of the urethra; pain when passing urine, oppressive sensation in the cords. Cessation of urination. Kent writes: “Babies do not urinate for a long time, they scream and hold their hand to their head, cry out in their sleep, throw off the blanket. A dose of Apis will often be helpful. ” Frequent urination in cases of cystitis. Constant urge to urinate, but each time only a small amount of urine is released (with inflammation of the ovaries). Urination is sometimes profuse (prolapse of the uterus). Excessive proteinuria, "half the volume of urine is albumin." In proteinuria, the urine is scanty and offensive. Proteinuria during pregnancy. Frequent but scanty emission of milky urine (hydrocephalus, meningitis).

Dark urine, like coffee, greenish urine (pleurisy). Urine contains casts and epithelium (in acute or chronic nephritis). Nephritis as a result of acute illness. Spontaneous urination in old people. Stinging, sudden stitching, sharp pains in the kidneys, extending into the ureters. Soreness to touch or pressure in the kidney area, worse when pressed or tilted.

Male genital organs
Sexual desire is increased and is accompanied by frequent and prolonged erections. Sexual desire is elevated to the level of mania. Intense sexual arousal without any reason, during classes, while driving, sitting alone in a room. Swollen testes, fullness, mostly in right testicle. Dropsy of the scrotum and foreskin. Hydrocele. Erysipelas and swelling of the scrotum and penis. Prostate disease, prostatic hypertrophy with excruciating pain during urination. From these pains the patient walks up and down the room. Burning condylomas of the penis.

Female genital organs
Apparently, there is an excessive hormonal activity of the female organs, so the desire for intercourse is extremely high. The ovaries are bloodshot and harden, especially the right one. Great heaviness in the ovarian region, in this area there are cysts or tumors, or a feeling of being pulled down in the ovarian region with burning pain radiating to the thigh. Worse bending over. Cystic tumors that appear first in the right ovary and then in the left.

Patients do not like touching in this area and avoid it. Pain in the ovaries from abstinence or after intercourse. Tightness in ovarian region, worse lifting arms. The uterus swells. Hypertrophy of the uterus, a feeling of fullness, a load with downward pressure and stinging pains in the uterus. Cysts, tumors, induration, ovarian enlargement, more on the right. Prolapsed uterus, sore to touch or pressure in this area. Lack of menses during puberty. Menses too scanty, lasts no more than one or two days, during menses great drowsiness with dullness of mind and cold feet. Profuse, acrid, green leucorrhoea. Habitual miscarriage in the early months: from the second to the fourth. Apis should be administered with caution to a pregnant woman with acute complaints such as fever or colds, and low potencies should not be repeated too often or for several days.

However, Apis can and should be given if symptoms agree during the miscarriage. Sharp stinging pains in the ovarian region during miscarriage. Metrorrhagia with profuse bleeding and heaviness in the abdomen, lightheadedness, great discomfort and restlessness. An Apis woman is likely to face many problems in bearing children because these constitutional complaints either make it very difficult for her to conceive or she may lose the baby (miscarriage) in the early months of pregnancy.

Rib cage
Breathing Apis has difficulty breathing in general, but these difficulties are different for different pathological conditions. For example, breathing will be difficult with dropsy or ascites: intermittent and tight breathing is observed with aggravation in a heated room, in a lying position, at night in bed, so that you have to sit up in bed and the patient cannot bend forward or backward due to difficulty breathing, it is impossible to lie horizontally in bed, the patient experiences fear of suffocation and will sit upright for days. Here, shortness of breath is part of the general picture of dropsy or hydrothorax, as if the lungs are compressed and there is not enough space for them to function, but there is no pathology in the lungs themselves. Shortness of breath is only part of a much larger picture, which looks grim, but not due to lung disease.

The situation becomes much more dramatic when Apis is indicated in real severe cases of laryngitis with edema, or in asthmatic patients. During a crisis, they lose their color, the face becomes dark, blue, the lips turn blue, the situation looks desperate, they cannot breathe and speak at all, they can only speak in a whisper, are forced to unbutton the collar around the throat, it seems as if the larynx is squeezed and cannot stand it even the slightest division, they have to inhale and exhale with effort.

They need someone to constantly fan them, otherwise they feel like they are going to die. Almost like Carbo veg., They have to go and stand by the open window (if they can walk), they need fresh cool air, which seems to ease their position a little.

The warmth of the room is completely unbearable, the temperature must be quite low and the windows must be open. They cannot lie with their heads low, and always sleep with their heads held high or sitting in bed, but if a crisis occurs in a dream, which happens especially often after midnight, then they have to sit up in bed to be able to breathe.

Anxiety and anguish. There is another pathological situation that can be called "nervous" or "functional" shortness of breath. It can be seen in meningitis or acute illnesses with severe fever, which are not necessarily concentrated in the lungs. When the fever is severe, even at the chill stage, breathing is very difficult, weak, there is intermittent shortness of breath, they feel that they will die soon, that they cannot survive because they cannot breathe, but the doctor cannot find any underlying pathology to to explain the situation - only a strong fever. The woman has ovarian inflammation with fever and difficulty breathing as we have described.

This is exactly what we call "strange, rare and characteristic" in drugs. What we call "key features". Apis cannot tolerate external heat or an increase in internal body temperature, as in fever; he cannot breathe in the heat. Is it then a coincidence that bees have to constantly ventilate themselves even at very mild temperatures? How is it that the tongue of Lachesis, when stuck out by the patient, acts exactly like the tongue of a snake? How coincidentally these phenomena coincide, or to what extent do they indicate another hidden reality?

We are often asked to explain the effects of drugs in order to understand the answers to the "why" and "why" questions underlying cause and fit, and when we see these phenomena and point to them as subjects of interest and research, we are accused of being "metaphysical." , even the so-called homeopathic physicians, as if the logical mind can understand and explain everything, and claim to explain the entire totality of phenomena on behalf of science, while we know only a small part of the whole.

In fact, we still know very little about health and disease issues because we have gone down the wrong path in research for many decades. Today, colossal money is spent on a heart transplant for an old man, but with that money, homeopathy could save thousands of heart patients from going to the stage when they require a transplant. However, in these matters I would like to refer my reader to my book "A New Model of Health and Disease".

Cough
Whooping cough, croupous cough, dry cough with gagging. Cough starting at night and continuing until early morning, worse at midnight.

Violent cough with dyspnoea and blue face. Farrington writes: “In exudative pleurisy, Apis is one of the best medications we have to induce fluid absorption. Apis and Sulfur cure most of these cases. ” Discharge of copious, frothy mucus. Discharge of sweetish sputum. Soreness in chest, as if bruised. Stitching in chest, piercing pain in right side of chest. Shooting pains from front to back. Erysipelas of the mammary glands.

Heart
The heart also has its share of the symptoms of this remedy. Pericardial effusion. Hydropericardium. Rapid pulse. The heart is listening, the whole body trembles with each heartbeat. Heart malaise, intense suffering, anxiety, feeling as if every breath will be the last. Palpitations from scanty urine.
Insufficiency of mitral valves. Organic heart disease. When the patient begins to deplete, the pulse is weak, not palpable, indistinguishable.

Back
Back and neck stiffness. Sudden stitching sharp pains on the right side of the neck are aggravated by moving the head in this direction. Swelling of the back of the neck in patients with gout. Throbbing pain in the neck, radiating to the left shoulder. Burning, pressing pain in the coccyx is worse with any attempt to sit. Bruised sensation in back. Pressing down in loins, as if menses were approaching. Coldness, chilliness of the back, but the patient does not want local warmth. Great weakness of the whole back.

Limbs
A definite tendency to paralysis of the limbs, not only with diseases of the spinal column, after apoplexy or thrombosis, but also with diseases such as arthritis, rheumatism, and especially with strong emotions or mental shock. "With scarlet fever, the entire nervous system is under paralyzing influence," "after excessive grief, the entire right side is paralyzed." The limbs become heavy, rigid, powerless. One side is paralyzed, the other twitches. Partial paralysis of the right side with numbness. Left arm almost paralyzed from severe cervical syndrome with burning pains from neck to arm, worse in the morning on waking. The upper limbs are completely powerless, they cannot hold anything, the patient must be fed (in case of a disease of the spine).

Edema of the feet and legs in a person suffering from chronic rheumatism and partial paralysis. Piercing pains in right forearm, with sensation of paralysis. Rheumatic pains in the shoulder joints radiating to the back of the neck. Like electrical pains through the limbs. The lower extremities become swollen and edematous, mostly from renal or cardiac dysfunction. Swelling of the hands. Drawing pain in the hands, radiating to the tips of the fingers. Feeling of numbness in the fingers, especially in the tips, around the roots of the nails. Swollen ankles. Feet and toes feel as if they are too large, heavy, swollen and stiff, especially in the evening or at night when taking off your shoes. The swelling gives the leg a transparent, waxy appearance. Panaritium, with burning, stinging pain and throbbing.

Dream
It is very interesting to look at the dreams of Apis and compare them with the symptomatology and action of bees: dreams of traveling long distances, long flights through the air, traveling through the air with large leaps; suffers from dreams all night with an aircraft, tries to attach wings, which, however, do not work (!).

Suppressed anger is also interesting: dreams of many quarreling people, one of whom, almost beside himself, leads out of the room by the hand, calming down. Dreams with unpleasant worries about different things. Dreams of active torment, full of care and hard work (remember "busy psychosis"). And finally, worse from heat, which terrifies the patient, dreams of a big hot stove, of walking on a hot floor. Great desire for sleep, ending in extreme sleepiness. Great desire to sleep, but inability to do so from great nervous anxiety. Sleepiness during menses. Great sleepiness in early evening.

Fever
Fever or chills worse in the afternoon, 3 to 4 or 5 pm. Even during a chill, the patient feels worse if the room is too heated, especially by the radiated heat, and it is better if he removes what he was covering. Excitement during fever. The movement causes tremors; after the tremors, the fever sets in.

During the fever or when the fever has ceased, the patient falls asleep deeply. Dry skin with great fever. Thirstless during fever, thirst during chill. While the fever is severe, it is usually accompanied by a severe headache. Heat in one part of the body, cold in another. There is no perspiration, or it appears only in fits, but soon dries up again.

Leather
The skin is dry, hot, better from bathing in cold water, cold compresses. Transparent and waxy in appearance. Erysipelas, carbuncles, ulcers, insect bites, edematous swelling, and all this is accompanied by stinging burning pains. The patient does not allow touching these areas and screams, they are so sensitive and irritated. Urticaria with edematous swelling of the skin, burning, stinging pain, intolerable itching at night, which is relieved by cold water. Hives from heat, exertion, fever, sweating, or allergies can occur with many conditions. The body is covered with large, swollen white spots.

Symptoms

Inflammation, enlargement and ovarian cysts. Miscarriage in the early months. Proteinuria during pregnancy. Kidney disease, dropsy, hematuria, anasarca. Hydrocele. Incontinence or urinary retention. Angina, laryngitis, pleurisy with exudation, diphtheria. Ophthalmia of all types (severe conjunctivitis, trachoma, allergic conditions, etc.). Hay fever. Asthma. Anaphylactic shock. Hydrothorax. Headaches, congestive congestion of the head. Heart disease, pericarditis. Hydrocephalus, meningitis, meningoencephalitis. Dysentery, gastroenteritis, cholera children. Allergic conditions, lupus erythematosus. Delayed onset of skin rash causing internal disturbances. Suppressed rash.

Connections. Compare: Apium virus (autointoxication with pus products), Zincum, Cantharis, Vespa, Lachesis. Complements Natrum muriaticum. "Chronic" Apis, and also Baryta carbonica if the lymph nodes are involved. Rhus is harmful.

Cases

1. “A guy, about twenty years old, had ascites and hydrothorax for several months. For about three months, allopathic doctors treated him first for dysentery, then for ascites, and then for several months he was treated by a homeopathic doctor. None of the treatments gave permanent improvement, and the symptoms eventually became so urgent that they invited me for a consultation and immediately resorted to tapping as a massage method to save the patient from impending danger. The proper homeopathic remedies were again prescribed, but the progression of the disease could not be stopped. The patient again began to get worse very quickly. Urine output almost stopped, skin was dry and hot, pulse was fast and weak, breathing was intermittent and labored, abdominal pain was severe to touch or pressure, dry mouth and throat, thirst, excessive restlessness and anxiety, intermittent irritating cough, and almost complete inability to sleep ...

At this stage of the disease, a vagrant Indian woman - one of the few surviving members of the Narragansett tribe - invited the family to use honey bees every evening and morning. She put the bees in a closed tin bucket and placed them in a heated oven until they died, and then, after grinding them into powder, every evening and morning, she put one in syrup. After about 24 hours, the skin became less hot and softer, breathing became easier and more free, the pulse slowed down and became more developed, and the amount of urine increased markedly. From this time on, the symptoms improved steadily, the watery effusion decreased day by day, until after a few weeks the patient recovered completely. " Dr. E. E. Marcy et al. Elements of a new materia medica since 4422. Note: no comments.

2. Many years ago I was invited to Watkins Glen, New York, for a consultation on a very bad case of diphtheria. On that day, one family member and four other people in the town had already died. In total, more than forty people died in the town, and a mass exodus took place from fear.

The attending physician of the patient - a noble gray-haired old man, moreover, a good and capable person - said when I looked at him and noticed that I was too young to advise him: “Doctor, I will kneel before anyone, because everyone who died got sick. " The patient was two rooms away from us, but even then I could hear her labored breathing. Apis was then a relatively new remedy for this disease, but when I examined her throat, I immediately saw Apis, and several questions confirmed this.

I told the doctor what I was thinking and asked him if he had tried it. He said, “No, I didn’t think about it, but it’s a strong blood poison. Try it. " This drug cured this patient and not a single patient who took it from the beginning and constantly died. It was the drug that prevented the epidemic. Dr. Nash.

Both cases above are cited in Tyler, Homeopathic drug pictures, section Apis. Note: This case is interesting because it highlights the action of Apis in diphtheria, but does not give us enough information or new information about Apis. The comment that “no one who took this drug from the beginning and continuously died” should be taken with caution and not fall for this trap. The trap words here are "from the beginning and constantly", meaning that they had several deaths, but these deaths were attributed by them to the fact that the patients did not take the drug from the beginning. What does the doctor mean by "beginning"?

3. This is an extremely instructive case that every student should read. B. X. at the age of nine, very scrofulous by inheritance from both parents (the patient had good and always pale skin, blue eyes, red hair). In the sixth year of life, he lost control of his legs, but after a tiring course of treatment he regained it and could walk quite easily. We found the child in a severe fever, with a sore throat and a scarlet rash. Aconite was shown and given. The child was very ill, but felt acceptable until the fourth day, when the rash began to disappear and at the same time there were disturbing changes. The fever became continuous, an expression of stupor appeared on the face, aggravated by the drooping lower jaw, the nose was pointed, the teeth were covered with dirty, sticky, slimy secretions of a disgusting substance from the secretion.

It seemed that the vitality had completely surrendered to the poison, which apparently had permeated the entire system. Cupr-met was given first. in order to make a disappearing rash appear. The patient became worse and worse, and Apis 2 was prescribed, which did not give any changes: the symptoms remained the same, the tongue became painful, cracked and bleeding, the nasal discharge became very irritating, the intestines became hard and painful to touch or pressure, diarrhea began.

The drugs changed depending on which seemed to be the best, the patient was clearly losing strength, edema of the feet and limbs began with painful and scanty urination. At this point, Arsenic 30 was given, but to no avail, and we decided to give Apis 30 until the patient got better or dies. For six weeks of subsequent illness, we adhered strictly to this decision. For weeks he was on the brink of death. There was a general dropsy, one day his life threatened to cut short suffocation from effusion into the chest, the next day hydrocephalus was found, the glands of his neck were swollen, discharge from the ears appeared, his face was so swollen that he could not see, and, finally, the dropsy of the abdomen became so threatening that I suggested tapping as a last resort to save his life, but his parents objected. At this point we switched to a second dilution of Apis, after which a great effect on the kidneys followed.

Within forty-eight hours, a huge amount of urine passed, which greatly relieved the patient. Under the influence of Apis - since only it was given, weekly alternating lower triturations with higher dilutions of the drug - the symptoms disappeared one by one. From time to time there was deterioration, but in general, the baby, step by step, got to his feet.

Throughout the rest of the summer, he was more or less disabled, but by the first of October, his father took him to work, and they walked all the distance from home, and the baby looked fresher and healthier than many years before. The cure was permanent, and after that he always looked perfectly healthy. Dr. C. J. Hampel and H. R. Amdt. Note: There are some interesting points in this case.

a. The expression "Aconite has been shown" is rather unfortunate, since Aconite was not shown at the time. This appointment hastened the development of the disease in a negative direction.

b. The correct prescription was not obvious from the beginning because there were not enough symptoms or the case was not fully studied.

v. After Aconite, instead of looking at the totality of the symptoms, Cuprum was given for etiological reasons, since the doctors thought that Aconite suppressed the rash.

d. One of the main points of interest is that as it progressed, the disease clearly indicated Apis, but this remedy was tried in a very low potency.

As other wrong remedies were tried, the case, instead of getting confused, looked more and more like a picture of Apis. It is for this reason that the doctors correctly decided not only to try Apis again, but to stick with it. Once you have a clear picture, the drug should work.

e. Here we have a characteristic remark: although doctors do not report any significant changes at high potency, they stick to it for several weeks. I think at this point the report becomes incorrect. They had to observe in the general condition of the patient certain weak changes that gave them hope. Changing the drug at this stage would mean death for the child.

f. Now for the most interesting point: although the low potency did not give any result at all at first, and despite the fact that it was definitely indicated, after repetition it clearly worked. The question is: Was this change caused by the action of this low potency, or was this the time when the action of the high potency was to be manifested? I believe in the first assumption. After the body has acquired a higher sensitivity and strengthened under the influence of high potency, it now reacts to stimulation with a lower one.

Can we conclude from this that sometimes the organism "saturates" when repeating a high potency and stops responding to it, while an even higher or lower potency can additionally stimulate it? This case shows that the answer here is yes. In this case, due to severe pathology, low potency is preferable.

It is also extremely interesting to note the fact that in order to initiate a reaction, we need a certain vibration frequency, which is provided here by the 30th potency. Perhaps the range that could provide the initial reaction was 12s - 200s. Potencies above 200 would be ineffective.

h. Another interesting point is that after the drug, which is apparently the constitutional drug of the patient, was cured of the acute condition, the whole body rejuvenated and was in a better condition than before the onset of the acute disease.

and. Because of its severity, this case clearly shows what happens if we lose courage and, under the pressure of the severity of the case, begin to prescribe one remedy after another, instead of sitting down, observing and studying the case well before acting and prescribing a prescription.
The example of this case also shows how thorough knowledge and experience are needed in our science, and it shows many difficulties and different angles of view that we must take into account when treating patients with homeopathy.

4. A four-year-old boy, the son of German parents, was dismissed by an allopathic attending physician as a hopeless case of hydrocephalus. On first examination, the child was lying on his back with wide-open eyes, extreme squint, dilated pupils, and rotating non-blinking eyeballs. He showed no sign of seeing a finger raised to his eye; when he was pricked with a pin, there was no sign of touch; when water was poured into his mouth, he made no attempt to swallow it ...

The left side was completely motionless for two days, but sometimes he moved his right arm and leg. He had not urinated for forty-eight hours, and there was a very slight swelling in the bladder area. The drugs did not induce stool for several days. At the beginning of his illness, he complained of pain in the back of his head with harsh random cries. Two days earlier, he had blistered from Spanish flies from the back of the neck to the lumbar region, and since that time did not emit water at all and showed no sign of sight, hearing or touch.

Apis 30. Five days later he recovered enough to sit up in bed, moved both sides of the body equally well and all his senses were restored. Dr. W.P. Wesselhöft. Notes: This is a typical case of Apis, as we see urinary retention, sometimes violent cries due to cerebrospinal fluid pressure, Apis unconsciousness and its tendency to unilateral paralysis and twitching or convulsions of the other side. This example very clearly shows the "unconscious state" Apis without coma. The books say, "paralysis of the left side, twitching on the right." Students should not take this symptom literally and look for twitching. In this case, for example, it should be understood as some nervous action on one side at a time when the other is motionless or semi-paralyzed.

5. I was invited for a consultation with Ms M., who was believed to be dying. I found a patient in a state of severe malaise, with shortness of breath, able to speak only in a whisper, each word separated from the next by several sighs. She had severe pain, shooting through the entire chest from front to back. She told me that she would not live long, since every breath seems to her to be the last. She did not feel thirsty, her urine was scanty, and she did not sleep for two days. The percussion of the chest gave a clear and healthy sound.

Auscultation revealed the permeability of the lungs to air, but very loud bronchial wheezing. No remedy other than Apis has this combination of symptoms. My choice fell on the 40t potency because the woman was too ill to handle the lower potency of the large dose of this material. Instructions were given to repeat Apis 40m in water every hour until it looked a little better and then completely stop giving until we saw it in the morning.

After the third dose, she calmed down, fell asleep for two hours and remained calm all night, slept intermittently until morning. In violation of the instructions, the drug was repeated every time she woke up until 9 a.m. when she received the last remaining dose, soon after which her condition became as bad as the previous evening. We examined her at 10:30 am and found her in about the same condition as during my first visit.

What was to be done now? The same drug was still shown and it was very clear that he had been overdose, so Sac-lac was given throughout the day, and when we examined her at 6:30 pm, she felt better again. Sac-lac was given until 10:30 the next morning, when we found her in even better condition. The next day is even better, and still Sac-lac. So, day after day, he showed that, on the whole, she was recovering, and she completely recovered without additional doses of medicine. Dr. X. N. Gersney.

Comment

a. In this case, the attending physician himself indicates the symptoms for which he prescribed the drug. The most interesting moment is the description of this lady's "premonition of death", when she feels that "every breath will be the last", and the expression "she told me that she would not live long." This is a unique feature of this drug, as it is neither "fear of death" nor "prediction of the time of death", but the feeling that "the soul will come out with breathing."

b. An overdose of medication to a patient can cause a relapse. In this case, what Dr. Gersney did, that is, waited for development, was correct. But not all patients will recover spontaneously. If the next 24 hours brought aggravation instead of improvement, the higher potency would complete the treatment. The fact that the patient already responds to a high potency without significant deterioration shows that we can give even higher potencies without risk.

v. Another interesting observation is that the doctor says that the patient was too bad to handle the large dose of the medicine. However, patient B. X. was in a much more serious condition, and Apis 2 worked well. Where is the truth?
Gersney probably had bad experience with very low potencies when the patient was too sensitive to the drug. It is also true that we must be careful with low potencies, especially minerals and animal poisons, as they can stimulate unnecessary aggravations, although I believe, for example, that a potency of 30 repeated doses would give the same result with less danger of overdose.

d. I would like to draw attention to Dr. Gersney's expression to stop giving medicine if "it looks a little better." The emphasis here is on the expression “slightly better,” as this would mean that improvement has begun and the medication should be discontinued.

A remark that applies to all these cases is the sharp turn that can occur in the Apis state, and that in a dangerous state they can reach it quite quickly. Anyway, as a general note on potencies and their repetition, I would like to say that we still need to learn a lot in order to establish the final rules.

Such questions require a lot of testing and research to arrive at the correct conclusion. The last three cases are cited in N. M. Choudhuri, Materia Medica, under Apis. Approx. Ed .: possibly "acute sore throat plus edema of the subcutaneous tissue." A warning about the expression "especially when", which I often use myself: this is not only the condition in which the drug is indicated, but the most unique, most characteristic of the given drug

Homeopathic remedy Apis is widely used for many pathological conditions of the body. The drug should be used both in rheumatic diseases and in psychiatric practice.

Apis (homeopathy is one of the varieties of traditional medicine) the pharmaceutical industry produces in several varieties: granules, suppositories for rectal use, oral drops and an injectable form of the drug.

Apis melifika are granules that include:

  • dextrinized starch;
  • honey bee venom.

Apis Plus, drops for oral use, which include:

  • melifica bee venom;
  • spore evergreen Plown;
  • oxygen silicon compound;
  • a substance from seaweed ash;
  • methylcarbinol.

Apis Hel is an injectable preparation with the composition:

  • apitoxin bee melifika;
  • sterile water for injection;
  • sodium salt of hydrochloric acid.
The article discusses in detail the homeopathic remedy Apis and its effectiveness.

Rectal drug Apis - as part of the drug:

  • bee apitoxin;
  • hood lumbago blackening;
  • black cohosh extract;
  • marigold flowers;
  • extraction from the tree of life;
  • animal wax.

pharmachologic effect

Each form of release of the homeopathic remedy has its own pharmacological action.

  • Granules are intended to relieve the inflammatory process in the body as a whole or to act on individual pathologies of the human body.
  • Candles for rectal use, they exhibit anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antihyperemic effects in diseases of the genitourinary system in men and women.
  • Apis drops- the drug is intended to relieve a strong inflammatory process of tissues and skin surface, which is expressed in edema, burning sensation, itching in case of immunological disorders in the body.
  • Injectable preparation manifests its effect in the form of removing hyperemia of the visceral organs and skin-muscle integuments, is taken with inflammatory pathologies of individual organs, with circulatory failure.

Indication for use

Apis (homeopathy, a type of non-traditional treatment) in different forms has its own indications.

Apis melifica granules should be used as monotherapy and in the combined treatment of the following pathological body processes:

  • tonsillitis is an acute form and long-term progressive;
  • phlegmon with damage to the lymphatic system;
  • nettle fever;
  • allergic dermatitis;
  • inflammation of the pleural membrane of the lungs;
  • astheno-neurotic syndrome;
  • psychoemotional instability, in complex therapy;
