Quotes from Omar Khayyam about love. The most profound sayings of Omar Khayyam about love

Omar Khayyam is a famous sage whose intelligent thoughts and creations touched various areas of life. We invite you to re-read Omar Khayyam’s quotes about love, which touch with sincerity and surprise with their depth.

This is what Omar Khayyam said about love:

“Love at the beginning is always tender.
in memories - always affectionate.
And if you love, it’s pain! And with greed for each other
We torment and torment - always.”

Despite the fact that these wise words of Omar Khayyam sound slightly pessimistic, they are quite truthful and philosophically call for remembering feelings not only good or bad, but the truth. He teaches us to try to see two sides to everything, and not just one blinding emotion.

“Even the shortcomings in a loved one are liked, and even the virtues in an unloved person are irritating.”

The truthfulness of this quote about love will be confirmed by everyone who has ever had feelings and felt inspired next to a loved one.

“You can seduce a man who has a wife, you can seduce a man who has a mistress, but you cannot seduce a man who has a beloved woman!”

The rather straightforward male view of gender relations could not be more correct and confirms that the status of a relationship does not matter if real feelings are not involved.

“Where love administers judgment, all dialects are silent!”

A laconic and succinct quote saying that love is omnipotent and does not tolerate objections.

“Love came and went, as if blood was flowing from the veins
completely empty - I am full of who I lived.
I gave away every last bit of myself to my beloved,
everything except the name became the one he loved.”

These rubai about love tell how much feeling fills the human soul and how empty it remains after the loss of love.

Omar Khayyam openly talks about his bitterness and selflessness.

“Passion cannot be friends with deep love,
If he can, then they won’t be together for long.”

The wise remark of Omar Khayyam tells us to distinguish between passion and true feeling and not expect that the first impulses of love will remain unchanged over the years.

Love changes, becomes deeper and calmer, but passion alone will not bring happiness to a couple.

“To live your life wisely, you need to know a lot.
Remember two important rules to get started:
you'd rather starve than eat anything,
and it’s better to be alone than with just anyone.”

One of Omar Khayyam's most famous poems, extolling selectivity in everything from food to relationships.

The sage considered love one of the most important human resources and did not advise wasting it.

“A plucked flower must be given as a gift, a poem that has been started must be completed, and the woman you love must be happy, otherwise you shouldn’t take on something you can’t do.”

Many wise quotes by Khayyam appeal to men, forcing them to look differently at their own behavior and attitude towards the fair sex.

In this phrase, the sage tells the strong half of humanity to be able to let go of the woman they love if there is no chance to make her happy.

According to Omar, a man must complete any task he begins or accept defeat with dignity.

“Noble people, loving each other,
They see the grief of others and forget themselves.
If you want honor and the shine of mirrors, -
Don’t envy others, and they will love you!”

This wise phrase succinctly describes the most important qualities that a person should have: the ability to love loved ones, forgetting about one’s own selfishness, and the willpower to abandon excessive ambition and envy.

Khayyam claims that by giving up negative feelings and learning to love others, a person will receive mutual feelings in return as a reward for his efforts and care.

“I came to the sage and asked him:
"What is love?" He said, “Nothing.”
But, I know, many books have been written:
Some people write “Eternity”, while others say “moment”.
Either it will scorch with fire, or it will melt like snow,
What is love? - “This is all human!”
And then I looked him straight in the face:
“How can I understand you? Nothing or everything?”
He said smiling: “You yourself gave the answer:
“Nothing or everything!” “There is no middle ground here!”

One of the deepest thoughts of Omar Khayyam, enclosed in poetic form. The sage talks about the essence of love, its many faces and boundaries, which have been and are being interpreted since the beginning of time.

Khayyam is sure: love is an ultimatum, a comprehensive force that cannot be defined or measured, but can only be felt.

The words that Omar Khayyam said about love have deep implications concerning life priorities, human nature and the foundations of the universe.

Re-reading his quotes, you find new meaning in them and are fascinated by the flight of thoughts of the great poet, which over and over again connect in the mind in a new way, like a verbal kaleidoscope.

Antipyretics for children are prescribed by a pediatrician. But there are emergency situations with fever when the child needs to be given medicine immediately. Then the parents take responsibility and use antipyretic drugs. What is allowed to be given to infants? How can you lower the temperature in older children? What medications are the safest?

Why do you expect benefit from your wisdom?
You will get milk from the goat sooner.
Pretend to be a fool and you'll get more benefit
And wisdom these days is cheaper than leeks.

There are even more holes in your robe.

You shouldn't look into the future,
Enjoy a moment of happiness today.

You will be in the company of proud learned donkeys,
Try to pretend to be a donkey without words,
For everyone who is not an ass, these fools
They are immediately accused of undermining the foundations.

Having endured hardships, you will become a free bird.
And the drop will become a pearl in the pearl oyster.
If you give away your wealth, it will come back to you.
If the cup is empty, they will give you something to drink.

Only those who are worse than us think badly of us,
and those who are better than us... They simply have no time for us

Hell and heaven in heaven are claimed by bigots;
I looked into myself and became convinced of the lie.
Hell and heaven are not circles in the palace of the universe;
Hell and heaven are two halves of the soul.

If you become a slave to base lust, -
In old age you will be empty, like an abandoned house.
Look at yourself and think about
Who are you, where are you and where do you go next?

We are a source of fun and a mine of sorrow,
We are a receptacle of filth - and a pure spring.
Man, as if in a mirror, the world has many faces.
He is insignificant - and he is immeasurably great!

Life is forced on us; her whirlpool
It stuns us, but one moment - and then
It's time to leave without knowing the purpose of life...
Coming is meaningless, leaving is meaningless!

Sunset always follows dawn.
With this short life, equal to a sigh,
Treat it as if it was rented to you.

Those who have been beaten by life will achieve more,
He who has eaten a pound of salt values honey more highly.
He who shed tears laughs sincerely,
He who has died knows that he lives.

Everything is bought and sold
And life openly laughs at us.
We are indignant, we are indignant,
But we are bought and sold.

If you can, don’t worry about time passing,
Do not burden your soul with either the past or the future.
Spend your treasures while you are alive;
After all, you will still appear in the next world as poor.

What God once measured out to us, friends,
You can't increase it and you can't decrease it.

Without coveting someone else's property, without asking for a loan.

You don’t even notice that your dreams are coming true, you never have enough!

Life is a desert, we wander through it naked.
Mortal, full of pride, you are simply ridiculous!
You find a reason for every step -
Meanwhile, it has long been a foregone conclusion in heaven.

I would like to mold my life from the smartest things
I didn’t think of it there, but I didn’t manage to do it here.

As soon as you give me a slap on the head, you have become a little wiser.

Absolutely nothing upsets or surprises me anymore.
It's okay either way.

The wind of life is sometimes fierce.
Overall life is good though
And it’s not scary when black bread
It's scary when a black soul...

In our vile times - even a piece of bread,
If you are not a servant to anyone, not a master -

The continent is made up of dust particles.
Your coming and going don't matter.
Just a fly flew into the window for a moment...

From godlessness to God - one moment!
From zero to total - just a moment.
Take care of this precious moment:
Life - neither less nor more - one moment!

Wine is prohibited, but there are four “buts”:
It depends on who drinks wine, with whom, when and in moderation.
If these four conditions are met
Wine is allowed to all sane people.

I see mortals hurrying to their graves,
I see glorious kings, moon-faced beauties,
Worms that have become shiny and become prey.

There is no heaven or hell, oh my heart!
There is no return from darkness, oh my heart!
And there is no need to hope, oh my heart!
And there is no need to be afraid, oh my heart!

We are obedient dolls in the hands of the Creator!
I didn’t say this for the sake of a word.
The Almighty leads us across the stage on strings
And he shoves it into the chest, finishing it off.

Do not burden your soul with the past or the future,
Spend your treasures while you're alive,
After all, you will still appear in the next world as poor.

To live your life wisely, you need to know a lot,
Remember two important rules to get started:
You'd rather starve than eat anything
And it’s better to be alone than with just anyone.
Omar Khayyam

If you have a nook to live in,
In our vile times, even a piece of bread,
If you are not a servant to anyone, not a master,
You are happy and truly high in spirit.

Nobility and meanness, courage and fear -
Everything is built into our bodies from birth.
Until death we will become neither better nor worse -
We are the way Allah created us!

The wind of life is sometimes fierce.
In general, however, life is good.
And it’s not scary when black bread
It's scary when a black soul...

Don't make others angry and don't be angry yourself,
We are guests in this mortal world.
And, if something goes wrong, accept it!
Be smart and smile.

Think with a cool head.
After all, everything is natural in the world:
The evil you emitted
Will definitely come back to you!

I know the world: in it a thief sits on a thief,
A wise man always loses an argument with a fool,
The dishonest shames the honest,
And a drop of happiness drowns in a sea of grief...

Wise sayings of Omar Khayyam about love.

Beware of causing wounds
The soul that protects and loves you.
It hurts a lot more.
And, having forgiven everything, he will understand and will not judge.

Taking all the pain and bitterness from you,
Resignedly will remain in torment.
You will not hear insolence in words.
You will not see an evil tear sparkle.

Beware of causing wounds
To someone who does not respond with brute force.
And who cannot heal the scars.
Anyone who will humbly meet your blow.

Beware of cruel wounds yourself,
Which inflicts on your soul
The one you keep as a talisman,
But whoever carries you in his soul does not.

We are so cruel to those who are vulnerable.
Helpless for those we love.
We keep traces of countless wounds,
Which we will forgive... but we will not forget!!!

Can only be shown to sighted people.
Sing the song only to those who hear.
Give yourself to someone who will be grateful
Who understands, loves and appreciates you.

We are unlikely to enter this world again,
We won’t find our friends again.
Seize the moment! After all, it won't happen again,
Just as you yourself will not repeat yourself in it.

In this world, love is the adornment of people;
To be deprived of love is to be without friends.
The one whose heart has not clung to the drink of love,
He's a donkey, even though he doesn't wear donkey ears!

Woe to the heart that is colder than ice,
Doesn't glow with love, doesn't know about it,
And for the heart of a lover - a day spent
Without a lover - the most wasted of days!

Don't count your friends against each other!
Not your friend who is driven by curiosity,
and the one who will happily share the takeoff with you...
And whoever is in trouble... will hear your quiet cry...
Omar Khayyam

Yes, a woman is like wine
Where's the wine?
It's important for a man
Know a sense of proportion.
Don't look for reasons
In wine, if drunk -
It's not the culprit.

Yes, in a woman, as in a book, there is wisdom.
Can understand its great meaning
Only literate.
And don't be angry with the book,
Kohl, an ignoramus, could not read it.

Omar Khayyam

Wise sayings of Omar Khayyam about God and religion.

God exists, and everything is God! This is the center of knowledge
I took it from the Book of the Universe.
I saw the radiance of Truth with my heart,
And the darkness of godlessness burned to the ground.

They rage in cells, mosques and churches,
Hope to enter heaven and fear of hell.
Only in the soul who understands the secret of the world,
The juice of these weeds has dried up and withered away.

Not a word in the Book of Fate can be changed.
Those who suffer forever cannot be excused.
You can drink your bile until the end of your life:
Life cannot be shortened and cannot be lengthened. Omar Khayyam

The goal of the creator and the pinnacle of creation is us.
Wisdom, reason, the source of insight are us.
This circle of the universe is like a ring.
There is a cut diamond in it, without a doubt, we are!

What a contemporary said about the wisdom of Omar Khayyam, about his life and death.

Omar Khayyam had many students who left memories of him.
Here are the memories of one of them:

“Once in the city of Bali, on the street of slave traders, in the emir’s palace, at a feast during a cheerful conversation, our teacher Omar Khayyam said: “I will be buried in a place where always on the days of the spring equinox a fresh wind will shower the flowers of the fruit branches.” Twenty-four years later I visited Nishapur, where this great man was buried, and asked to be shown his grave. I was taken to the cemetery of Khaira, and I saw the grave at the foot of the garden wall, shaded by pear and apricot trees and showered with flower petals so that it was completely hidden under them. I remembered the words spoken in Balkh and began to cry. Nowhere in the whole world, up to its inhabited borders, was there a man like him.”

Persian philosopher, mathematician, astronomer and poet. He contributed to algebra by constructing a classification of cubic equations and solving them using conic sections.

Born in the city of Nishapur, which is located in Khorasan (now the Iranian province of Khorasan Razavi). Omar was the son of a tent dweller, and he also had a younger sister named Aisha. At the age of 8 he began to study mathematics, astronomy, and philosophy deeply. At the age of 12, Omar became a student at the Nishapur madrasah. Later he studied at madrassas in Balkh, Samarkand and Bukhara. There he completed a course in Islamic law and medicine with honors, receiving the qualification of haki?ma, that is, a doctor. But medical practice was of little interest to him. He studied the works of the famous mathematician and astronomer Thabit ibn Kurra, and the works of Greek mathematicians.

About love

Which other poet remains relevant for more than a thousand years? Who has sung the praises of vices so much that you immediately want to throw yourself into the abyss of these vices? The quatrains of Omar Khayyam are as intoxicating as wine; they are as tender and daring as the embrace of oriental beauties.

Poems about love

“Is it really possible to imagine a person, unless he is a moral freak, in whom such a mixture and diversity of beliefs, opposing inclinations and directions, high virtues and base passions, painful doubts and hesitations could be combined and coexisted...” - to this perplexed The researcher's question has a short, comprehensive answer: it is possible, if we are talking about Omar Khayyam.

Quotes and aphorisms

You like even the shortcomings in a loved one, and even the advantages in an unloved person irritate you.

Why do you expect benefit from your wisdom? You will get milk from the goat sooner. Pretend to be a fool - and you will be more useful, And wisdom these days is cheaper than leeks.

Those who have been beaten by life will achieve more,
He who has eaten a pound of salt appreciates honey more.
He who shed tears laughs sincerely,
He who has died knows that he lives.

Don't forget that you are not alone:
And in the most difficult moments, God is next to you.

Never go back. There is no point in going back anymore. Even if there are the same eyes in which thoughts were drowning. Even if you are drawn to where everything was so nice, don’t ever go there, forget forever what happened. The same people live in the past that they always promised to love. If you remember this, forget it, don’t ever go there. Don't trust them, they are strangers. After all, they once left you. They killed faith in their souls, in love, in people and in themselves. Just live what you live and even though life looks like hell, look only forward, never go back.

A pensive soul tends towards loneliness.

I have never been repulsed by a person’s poverty; it’s another matter if his soul and thoughts are poor.

You can seduce a man who has a wife. You can seduce a man who has a mistress. But you cannot seduce a man who has a beloved woman.

Live at least a hundred years, at least ten hundred years,
You still have to leave this world.
Be a padishah or a beggar at the market,
There is only one price for you: there are no dignities for death.

Love can do without reciprocity, but friendship never can.

When you go away for five minutes,
Don't forget to keep your palms warm.
In the palms of those who are waiting for you,
In the palms of those who remember you...

No matter how great your wisdom is, it gives you as much milk as a goat’s milk! Isn't it wiser to just play the fool? “You’ll be better off for sure.”

You can't look into tomorrow today,
Just the thought of him makes my chest feel painful.
Who knows how many days you have left to live?
Don't waste them, be prudent.

Only those who are worse than us think badly of us, and those who are better than us... They simply have no time for us...

I asked the wisest: “What have you learned?
From your manuscripts? The wisest one said:
“Happy is he who is in the arms of a tender beauty
At night I’m far from the wisdom of books!”

Be happy in this moment. This moment is your life.

The lower a person's soul,
The higher the nose lifts!
He reaches his nose there,
Where the soul has not grown...

Don't say the man is a womanizer. If he had been monogamous, it wouldn’t have been your turn.

I think it's better to be alone
How to give the heat of the soul to “someone”
Giving a priceless gift to just anyone
Once you meet your loved one, you will not be able to fall in love.

Those who lose heart die before their time.

Don’t trust someone who speaks beautifully, there is always a game in his words.
Trust the one who silently does beautiful things.

Don't be afraid to give warming words,
And do good deeds.
The more wood you put on the fire,
The more heat will return.

Passion cannot be friends with deep love,
If he can, then they won’t be together for long.

Don't look at how someone else is smarter than everyone else,
And see if he is true to his word.
If he doesn’t throw his words to the wind -
There is no price for him, as you yourself understand.

Instead of looking for the truth, we would milk a goat!

Everything is bought and sold,
And life openly laughs at us.
We are indignant, we are indignant,
But we buy and sell.

Above all the teachings and rules on how to live correctly, I chose to affirm two foundations of dignity: It is better not to eat anything at all than to eat whatever is horrible; It's better to be alone than to be friends with just anyone.

Life is ashamed of those who sit and mourn,
He who does not remember joys does not forgive insults...
