In addition, making soap is a real creative process. The form and content of homemade soap depends only on your imagination. It can be just cute multi-colored pieces of fragrant soap or a whole work of art. Let's take a closer look at the process of making soap at home.

How to make soap at home

Homemade soap ingredients. So, to make soap you will need:

Soap base. You can purchase a special clear or white soap base from a specialty store, or you can use regular baby soap. White soap base is practically no different from baby soap, except that it has no smell. But the transparent base will make a very beautiful transparent soap. But for beginners, it is better to practice on children's soap.

Base oil - almond, olive, peach, apricot, it can be anything. Essential oil. The choice of oil depends on the needs of your skin. For example, tea tree is suitable for oily and problematic skin, orange will saturate the skin with vitamins and get rid of cellulite, ylang-ylang will rejuvenate sensitive skin. Dyes. You can purchase soap dyes or use food coloring. You can also give color to soap with the help of natural products: cocoa, chocolate, fruit and vegetable juice.

Additives. In order to give your soap additional properties, you can add various additives to it: glycerin, cream, honey, herbal infusions, dry flowers. And if you want to make a scrub soap, add ground coffee, oatmeal, ground nut shells, etc. Dishes for a water bath. Soap molds. You can use any molds: confectionery, children's, special molds for soap, any plastic or ceramic containers. Alcohol for lubricating the surface of the mold. Warm milk, decoction or water to dilute the base.

How to make soap at home. So, now that everything is prepared, you can start cooking soap.

The first step is to cut the soap base into small pieces or grate baby soap, this will help them melt faster. Now melt the soap base in a water bath, stirring it occasionally. Add base oil to the soap at the rate of 3 teaspoons per 100 grams of base. While the base is melting, it is sometimes necessary to add a little milk or cream to get a creamy mass. Instead of milk, you can add a drop of water or a decoction of herbs, but water can lead to exfoliation of the soap. And it is best to replace water and milk with sugar, this will allow the base to melt faster and better.

When the soap base is completely melted, remove it from the heat and add various ingredients: 5 drops of essential oil, a teaspoon of glycerin, dyes, flavors, coffee and any other ingredients you desire. Now you need to pour the soap into a mold and sprinkle the surface of the soap with alcohol from a spray bottle, this will remove the bubbles on the surface. We leave the soap in the molds until completely solidified, you can put it in the refrigerator or a cool place. After about 2-3 days, the soap will dry completely and be ready to use. We take it out of the molds and brag about the result!

Homemade baby soap

Soap making is a very interesting and very exciting process, and a whole book can be written about the benefits of handmade soap.

This is the first soap I made about two years ago.

Today I can more or less make any soap from the base, I am learning how to make soap from scratch (but that's another story).

For everyone who is interested in this topic, I want to tell you how easy it is to make homemade soap from baby soap.

To be honest, there are no particular difficulties in making soap. Here it is important to learn a few basic rules of technology and turn on your imagination. And over time, gaining experience, you can become a great soap maker.

And now a simple master class for everyone who decides to try to make their first soap from the simplest ingredients.

So, we will cook moisturizing milk soap from baby soap.

Compound

You will need 100.0 of the simplest baby soap.

Be sure to pay attention to its composition, it should be without additives, flavorings, adding cream, otherwise there will be unpleasant moments when cooking soap, but we don’t need them.

100.0 milk

1 tbsp olive oil

a couple drops of your favorite essential oil (I used cinnamon and vanilla) can be omitted.

1 tbsp honey or sugar

Tableware

Firstly, you will need to build a water bath, for this, in a larger saucepan, pour water and dip a smaller saucepan into it.

Instead of a small saucepan, I had a heat-resistant colander in which I placed a plastic bowl for melting soap.

Stick or spoon for stirring.

Metal grater.

And a soap mold lubricated with oil.

As a mold, you can adapt a silicone mold for cupcakes, a plastic jar of soap. The main thing is that you can then get your soap.

I have replaced a real soap mold with a jar of cotton swabs.

We are just starting, we are trying to make soap, so we don’t have accessories, we manage with improvised means).

So let's get started.

Cooking

To begin with, we will rub our soap on a fine grater, fill it with hot milk and leave it for a couple of hours.

Ideally refrigerate overnight.

Then we put our soap shavings in a water bath heated to 50 degrees. Add honey or sugar (these are melters). And stirring occasionally, avoiding boiling, dissolve it until a homogeneous mass (without lumps). We take it off the fire. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 3 drops of essential oil to the melted base. Stir and pour the mixture into the mold.

Let it cool for 15 minutes and then put it in the refrigerator.

When the soap hardens, take it out of the mold. We try to do this carefully by pressing on the bottom of the form. If it is difficult to remove, you can lower the mold for a couple of seconds in boiling water (but make sure that the water does not get on the soap itself), and then resume trying to get the soap.

Dry the finished soap on paper for a day. So it will get rid of excess moisture, harden and become usable.

Now pack it or leave it for personal use. That's it, your first homemade handmade soap is ready!

Approximately the same technology is used to make any other soap from baby soap. It is enough to turn on your imagination, add other oils: coconut oil, apricot oil, rosehip oil, macadamia oil, etc. (in the same proportions), natural dyes and flavors, and you will get your own homemade and very healthy soap.

Beginning soap makers are advised to train on an ordinary children's soap without additives and fragrances. If you are confident in yourself, then purchase a professional soap base in specialized stores. They sell white, transparent and multi-colored bases with the addition of oils in packages of 250, 500 and 1,000 grams.

What to buy:

base oil

It can be anything: coconut, almond, olive, castor, grape and apricot seeds. The oil is almost entirely composed of organic compounds: fatty acids, vitamins, waxes, trace elements that are extremely beneficial for the skin.

Add no more than ½ teaspoon of oil to 100 g of soap base. An overdose of essential oils can cause severe allergies, and soap will stop lathering.

There are many varieties of base oils, each of which has its own therapeutic effect and saturates homemade soap with skin-friendly properties.

base oil skin type Property
From apricot kernels Any Saturates the skin with vitamins: A, B, C, E, F. Moisturizes, softens, improves elasticity, normalizes the function of the sebaceous glands

What to buy:

One-color handmade soap can be obtained using food-grade water-soluble dyes.

  • Cocoa and coffee will make the soap chocolate.
  • An infusion of chamomile will give the soap a yellow tint.
  • Saffron and curry - bright yellow.
  • Spinach, dill and parsley - green.
  • Beetroot juice - red or pink.
  • Essential chamomile oil - blue.

Do not use red rose petals (gives a dirty gray color) or hibiscus tea (gives a dirty green color) to get red shades.

Natural dyes have low light fastness and quickly fade in the sun. Therefore, such soap must be stored in a dark place.

Layered multi-color soap uses liquid or dry pigment in standard and neon shades. Pigment dyes give a bright, rich color and make the soap slightly matte. Before adding to the soap base, the dry pigment must be rubbed with oil or glycerin.

Mother-of-pearl, a mineral dye in powder form, gives a beautiful shimmer and shine to homemade soap. It perfectly emphasizes the relief of the product. Mother-of-pearl is used in soaps with a transparent base and is applied to the surface of the product with a brush or fingertip.

Such a dye does not need to be pre-dissolved and is added dry to the molten base.

For example, finely ground coffee, oatmeal, ground nut shells can be added to scrub soap during the preparation process. Some of these recipes are easy to make on your own. But, for example, bamboo powder or baobab fruit will have to be purchased.

How to make homemade soap

Step 1

Prepare all the necessary components in advance: dyes, oils, fillers, and so on. Cut the soap base into small cubes and melt it in a water bath. Make sure that the substrate temperature does not rise above 60 °C. Otherwise, bubbles will form in the soap, and its quality will deteriorate.

Step 2

When the soap base is completely melted, add any base oil you like, dye and one teaspoon of filler, for example, ground, to it. In this case, coffee will act as a dye and give the product a deep chocolate shade.

Step 3

Pour the mass into the mold, after sprinkling it from the spray bottle with alcohol. If you are working with several layers, then when pouring a new one, do not forget to sprinkle the previous one with alcohol and slightly scratch its surface for better adhesion of the layers. The surface of the soap can be decorated with whole coffee beans.

homemade soap it is better to store in a closed jar, otherwise evaporation of moisture cannot be avoided, this is bad for its quality. DIY soap recipes quite simple, but we advise beginner soap makers to start making the simplest soap using the main components and one or two flavors.

If there is a lot of water in the soap, it will change shape significantly during drying, so the amount of moisture added must be carefully monitored. Water also slows down t soap curing process. To guess how much is needed in your case, add it little by little to the boiling mixture until you see the consistency of fatty sour cream. A drop of honey or a cube of sugar will help the composition melt.

For the soap melting process in addition to a water bath, you can use a microwave, choose a power of 500W. Attention: the mass may boil. In order to make unusual, original handmade soap at home in an interesting form, we have found and published for you the best homemade soap recipes.

Soap molds handmade, you can choose a variety of: containers left from cosmetic sets, glasses and cups, it is good to use children's molds for playing in the sandbox. Hold the container with a piece of soap under a tap of hot water, or place it in the freezer for 7-10 minutes. Then the soap is easily removed.

Dry cooked products for three days, turn it over from time to time. Storing soap in cling film will prevent the product from drying out and cracking.

To make soap from several layers, you need to be patient. One layer is dry - feel free to pour the next one into the mold.

After the soap is prepared according to the selected recipe, leave it for a while: the ripening process begins. Products of different composition should lie down from 3 weeks to two months. If soap was prepared in olive oil, it will ripen up to six months. The more it lies, the higher its quality.

After soap pulled out of the mold, you will be holding a greasy soft product in your hands. It is cut into pieces of the required size and dried, placed in a blown place. Excess moisture will evaporate, leaving the soap firm and pleasant to the touch.

Soap with lime and mint.

body cleansing soap | lime, mint oil, lime thought | normal skin

Dry the zest of half a lime well. Take 100 grams of clear soap base and melt in the microwave. It should be hot enough for the zest to give its color to the soap. Add dry zest and stir well. Then add 5 drops of lime essential oil and 3 drops of peppermint essential oil, 1/3 teaspoon grape seed oil. Continue stirring until the soap thickens a little so that the particles stop floating. You can also add lime juice, but first strain it through a fine strainer. The aroma of lime essential oil does not last long, so you can add a stronger and more persistent Lemongrass essential oil. After 20 minutes, the soap is ready, but before the first use, it should be dried for a day.
