How to apply a vinyl sticker

Important!
Before applying the sticker, make sure that the selected surface is clean, dry, free of grease, dust and other contaminants that may interfere with normal adhesion. We strongly recommend degreasing the surface. You can use a household degreaser or glass cleaner to do this. A soap solution will also work. Simply wipe the surface where the decal is applied. After degreasing, wipe the surface dry.
The sticker should be applied at an ambient temperature of at least +15 degrees. If the selected surface is car glass, then warm up the car interior and glass.

How does the sticker work?

The sticker consists of three parts:

1. Mounting film. Transparent, has a weak adhesive layer directed downwards towards the sticker. Serves to transfer the sticker to the surface to be decorated and then remove it.

2. Vinyl sticker. Located with a durable adhesive layer down to the substrate.

3. Substrate. It is an opaque layer and serves as protection for the adhesive surface of the sticker.

You will need the following tools to apply the sticker:
Scissors;
Plastic card or small plastic ruler or soft squeegee for smoothing;
Adhesive tape or masking tape to secure the sticker.

How to apply a sticker on a car:

Step 4:
Remove the masking tape previously applied to the edges and carefully and slowly begin to peel the remaining bottom part of the backing (the opaque layer) from the back of the sticker. Gradually pull the backing down, making sure that all image elements remain on the mounting film. Be sure to simultaneously smooth the bottom part of the sticker, freed from the backing, onto the surface to be decorated with a squeegee or plastic card from top to bottom. If suddenly some fragment of the image does not move away from the backing, glue it back to the mounting film, iron it and try again. You can first completely separate the lower part of the backing, preventing the sticker from touching the surface, and only then smooth it.

Ready! Now the sticker will decorate your interior or car, giving it a unique and original look.

Instructions for applying full color stickers:

Follow steps 1-2 to secure the decal to the surface. Glue the upper part of the sticker to the surface by completing step 3. Then remove the masking tape previously pasted along the edges and carefully begin to separate the remaining lower part of the backing from the back of the sticker, simultaneously smoothing the sticker to the surface to be decorated from the middle to the bottom with a squeegee or plastic card. That's all!

The sticker can be applied to an uneven surface of complex shape; to do this, you need to smooth the sticker under the hot air flow of a household hair dryer, this will cause heat shrinkage and the sticker will take the shape of the surface.

There are two types of stickers available for sale. The first ones serve for decoration and are attached on top of the applied varnish coating. Usually these are small-sized motifs; they decorate all nails or just a few fingers. Stickers can be in the shape of geometric shapes, animals, butterflies, flowers, monograms. A very interesting option is stickers that imitate a French manicure. It is most convenient to use accessories made of silicone - they fit tightly to the nail, do not bulge, and hold securely.

These stickers are easy to apply. Get a manicure and cover your nails with colored polish. Attach the selected motifs, freed from the protective film, to the undried varnish and press them with a wooden stick. Let the polish dry and then coat your nails with a thick coat of a quick-drying, shiny topcoat. It will fix the stickers and give the manicure smoothness and shine.

Don't save time on manicure. Stickers attract increased attention to your hands, and any defects will be obvious.

Film manicure

More recently, another version of stickers has come into fashion. This is a thin film that completely covers the nails, replacing regular polish. The advantages of this coating are the speed of execution and the neat appearance of the nails. In addition, this is the only way to create a fashionable manicure with a foil effect or decorate your nails with complex small patterns. Stickers are sold in ready-made sets, so in the store you can choose the right color, texture and design.

If you can't handle stickers yourself, get a test manicure at a salon. It will be easier for you to repeat it in the future.

To keep your nails looking perfect, it is important to apply the decals correctly. Try them on, choosing options that suit the size of your nails. If they are too long or wide, they can be trimmed slightly. It is important that the stickers match the width of the nail; the length can be removed later.

Do a manicure by removing the cuticles and polishing the plates with a special polishing stone. It will be difficult to stick the film on, and it can peel off quickly. Degrease the plates using a special product or nail polish remover. Remove the protective paper from one sticker and apply the adhesive side of the film to the nail. Press it firmly so that the glue sticks into place. Smooth out small wrinkles with a wooden or plastic stick. Do not use metal tools as they may tear the film.

After making sure that the film has stuck, proceed to the design of the next nail. Take your time - the errors of such a manicure will be very noticeable. When finished, file your nails, removing excess film. It is convenient to do this with a ceramic or glass file with a moderately coarse grain. A properly done manicure will last for several days.

Beautiful and well-groomed hands with a bright, or, conversely, discreet manicure, make a pleasant impression on others. If you don’t have time for artistic work by a master in a salon, you can decorate your nails at home. To do this, you need to master the technique of choosing stickers on your nails and gluing them correctly.

The adherence of nail design fans to stickers is explained by the fact that:

Where to buy nail stickers

Stores specializing in the sale of products and components for nail bars and beauty salons have a wide range of stickers. You can also order sets of stickers on the Internet, but it will take longer, although it will be much more favorable in price and range of choice.

Classification

Nail stickers (how to glue them and create original versions will be described below) differ in the method of application to the surface of the nail:

Which fingernails to stick stickers on, design

Applying decals to your nails like a pro is easy. The main thing is to choose a suitable style that will not seem vulgar. When choosing the fingers on which stickers will be applied, it is important to know when to stop and create a tasteful design.

Not guided by the principle “the more the better.”

  • If you have large and long nail plates, you can design all the nails in the “smile” area.
  • A short nail plate requires the use of stickers on 1-2 fingers (for example, the thumb and ring finger). This is important in order not to overload or make the nail visually heavier.
  • Decorating for a special occasion may involve an elegant design using rhinestones and voluminous embellishments. In this case, it is also important to observe moderation and be guided by a sense of style. For voluminous jewelry, the optimal location is considered to be on the ring finger in combination with a suitable coating on other nails.
  • Colors and pictures can be selected to suit the time of year, events, age and personal preferences.

Preparatory stage

The preparatory stage is a complex of the following actions:

Gel polish application technology

After preparing each nail for a manicure with a shellac sticker, the following steps are performed:

  1. After applying the base coat, you need to dry your nails under an ultraviolet lamp.
  2. The next step is to coat it with shellac and also dry it.
  3. The sticker is applied to the nail and the protective layer is removed from it.
  4. After fixing the sticker, a finisher is applied to the nails and dried under a lamp.

Shellac stickers

Stickers on nails, how to glue them on shellac, how to dry them correctly - all these aspects are discussed in detail below. The most suitable stickers for shellac coating are water-based stickers. Transfer stickers and photo prints have proven themselves well. An important condition is a flat and smooth surface of the nail plate.

In this case, the sticker will look good.

  1. Nails are pre-treated.
  2. This is followed by a base coat and shellac.
  3. Everything is dried under a lamp.
  4. The resulting sticky layer is removed.
  5. The sticker is applied to the nail, straightened and secured.
  6. Nails with a sticker are covered with a top coat.

This manicure lasts long and reliably.

Self-adhesive water stickers

After the preparatory stage described above, you need to prepare:

You need to do the following:

  1. Try the stickers on your nail if you plan to have full coverage.
  2. Apply a base coat of polish to the nail.
  3. Dip the stickers into the water and wait until they are ready to be removed from the protective layer.
  4. Carefully pick up the sticker with tweezers and apply to the nail.
  5. Excess moisture from the sticker is removed with a napkin or cotton pad.
  6. It is important to handle the sticker carefully, straightening and stretching the image across the nail.
  7. Next, the final fixing layer is applied.

Stickers that need to be torn off later

Tear-off stickers are usually a piece of thin foil that covers the entire nail or certain parts of it. For this purpose, special manicure glue is used.

Here is one design option:

For such a design, only special manicure foil is suitable. You need to work with it carefully, as it is very thin and breaks easily.

Stickers that are attached with glue

Stickers on nails (how to glue them without a special adhesive coating on the back) require the use of special manicure glue. With its help, voluminous and heavy nail decorations are fixed.

Usually the glue is supplied in the kit and it is better to use it.

  1. After the initial treatment of the nail and application of the base, glue is applied to the nail.
  2. After a few seconds (the holding time should be indicated in the instructions), decorative elements are applied to the adhesive surface and pressed tightly to the nail.
  3. If necessary, the entire design is coated with a finishing layer of clear varnish.

Transfer stickers

Working with products that are transferred to the surface of the nail plate is easy:

Full size water sliders

Sliders are sold in 2 versions:

  • Ready-made forms for nails
  • A single sheet from which you need to cut shapes.

Slider design is suitable for nails coated with gel polish.

To decorate your nails with a slider, you need:

  1. Shape your nails, clean them and degrease them.
  2. Cover your nails with gel polish and dry under a lamp.
  3. Soak the sliders in warm water (soaking time is indicated in the instructions).
  4. Move the slider to the side and remove it from the paper base.
  5. Attach the sticker to the nail and press it with a cotton pad to remove excess moisture.
  6. Cover your nails with a final coat of clear polish.

Lace

Sliders with a lace pattern come in 2 types:

For greater effect, a sticker with a lace pattern is selected for a plain base varnish.

Easy to stick:

  • The nail, which has undergone pre-treatment and sharpening, is covered with a single-color varnish of any shade.
  • A fragment of the lace pattern is cut out from the palette and separated from the base.
  • Apply the transparent slider to the nail using gentle movements.
  • The composition is coated with a fixative varnish.

Broken glass

To create the “broken glass” effect, special foil paper is used.

The choice of colors and effects is huge: mother-of-pearl and mirror fragments from pastel to bright and catchy colors will definitely attract the attention of others.

This simple and inexpensive method will create the effect of an expensive salon manicure. It is important to remember to be careful in execution, since corners of “broken glass” sticking out in different directions will only spoil the beauty. Additional decorations in the form of sparkles, rhinestones and “caviar” will be inappropriate.

Foil products

Foil stickers are shiny or matte pieces of thin foil. Usually.

They are glued using a special glue, which is applied either to the entire nail plate or to part of it.

  1. Treated nails are covered with glue.
  2. After a certain time, foil is applied to the glue-covered space.
  3. Unnecessary pieces of foil are carefully filed or cut off.
  4. The nail is covered with a finishing layer of transparent varnish.

3D stickers

3D stickers feature three-dimensional details and bulges on the surface. You need to glue them like this:

3D stickers will not interfere with your daily activities, even despite their voluminous design.

Shellac stickers

After preparing your nails for manicure, the application technology will be as follows:

  1. Nails are covered with a base coat and a layer of shellac.
  2. The applied surface is thoroughly dried under a lamp.
  3. The adhesive surface is cut off with a buff.
  4. The selected design is removed from the palette and applied to the nail. It is important to ensure that the picture is laid evenly and without folds.
  5. After smoothing the sticker, a layer of transparent fixative varnish is applied.

Photo print

When working with photo print stickers, you should remember that the use of water is contraindicated.

Gluing them is simple and easy:

  1. A photo print of the required size is glued to the prepared nail plates. If the sticker is full-size, then the corners and protruding parts are carefully trimmed or folded down.
  2. After this, you can carefully file down the protruding ends with a nail file.
  3. A transparent sealant is applied on top.

It is necessary to ensure careful contact and fixation of the sticker on the surface of the nail.

Gold stickers

Gold stickers will look great at a formal evening event.

Gluing them is not difficult, but some extra practice won't hurt.

  1. Sharpened and degreased nails are covered with a colorless base varnish.
  2. After the base has dried, the gold foil is removed from the base and applied in an even layer to the nail.
  3. Using a cotton swab or orange stick, spread the foil over the entire surface. The foil is quite thin, so you shouldn’t rush so as not to tear the fragment.
  4. The protruding corners of the film can be cut off with a file, moving from top to bottom along the edge of the nail.
  5. A fixing layer of varnish is applied on top.

Velvet stickers

Another popular new product is velvet stickers. They are usually short pile patterns.

Such stickers are attached to transparent film.

  1. After pre-treatment of the nails, a base is applied to the surface of the nails, transparent or colored, depending on individual preferences.
  2. The velvet pattern is removed from the backing and applied with the adhesive side to the nail.
  3. A finisher is not needed in this case, as it can destroy the velvet effect.

Velvet stickers are quite durable, and therefore, according to manufacturers, they will stay on nails for longer than 15 days.

Reasons for peeling sliders

Important conditions for preserving a manicure with sliders that professional nail art masters observe are:

  • High quality material.
  • Compliance with all rules when applying sliders.

If the master decided to save money and used low-quality sliders, they will begin to peel off within 3-4 days. It is important to remember that before fixing the slider, you need to thoroughly dry the lower layers of the base varnish.

The sticker should be carefully pressed and smoothed over the surface of the nail. If the work is not done carefully, the stickers will begin to peel off the nail after a very short period of time.

The drawing turned out to be insufficiently bright or almost invisible

This happens if the following basic conditions are not met:

Chips in the finishing coat

Defects of this type appear for several reasons:

  • Poorly dried base and finisher layers.
  • Coating applied too thick.
  • When sealing the ends, too much topcoat is applied. As a result, cracks arise due to critical load.
  • The undried surface of the sticker on which the topcoat was applied.

Pattern peels off with top coat

To preserve your manicure for a long time, you must remember that even the highest quality material will not withstand prolonged contact with water. Therefore, experienced users advise washing dishes, windows and floors with gloves. Also, the durability of the manicure can be harmed by the absence of a transparent top, designed to protect the sticker from external factors.

The sticker does not completely adhere to the nail plate

The sticker may bubble if:

  • It was glued carelessly and air got under it
  • The adhesive surface of the slider is processed unevenly.
  • Poor quality components were used.

To know how to apply stickers on nails, you don’t have to be a nail art specialist. You can make a beautiful manicure at home, you just need to practice a little.

The fashion for themed designs for decorating nails continues to be in trend this season. And if quite recently many women used the services of a nail art specialist and spent a lot of time in the beauty salon while the specialist painstakingly painted the nails with a thin brush, today you can buy a suitable set of sliders and make a luxurious nail design at home. Modern stickers with drawings and patterns are made on thin films that are easily transferred to the nails, where they are securely fixed. If you use gel polish to perform a home manicure, then you can decorate the colored coating with water-based stickers and securely fix them with top gel. Before applying stickers to your nails, be sure to familiarize yourself with the technique of performing the procedure so that your fashionable manicure will remain in its original form for several weeks.

One of the most popular areas of modern nail art is slider design using water stickers. These sliders are sold as thin films with pictures that easily separate from the paper backing when exposed to water. The film can be carefully smoothed with an orange stick on the surface of the nail. In just half a minute you can decorate each nail with a design of any complexity, saving time and money on visiting a beauty salon. If you want to learn how to properly apply stickers to the coating applied to your nails, watch video tutorials for beginners and instructions with photos in this article. When choosing sliders for nail designs, pay attention to the size of the pictures, which should match the size and shape of your nails. For a French manicure, you can use a fragment of a slider to highlight the free edge of each nail with a beautiful pattern, and you can easily cut off the excess film with scissors and then smooth the edges with a soft nail file.

♦ CLASSIFICATION OF STICKERS BY APPEARANCE AND FORM

Stickers with 3D effect.
Decor with an adhesive base for creating a voluminous manicure. The 3D effect is achieved due to the special arrangement of image fragments on the film;

♦ HOW TO PROPERLY GLUE WATER STICKERS ON YOUR NAILS

❶ First, we do a hygienic manicure and prepare the nail plates for applying the first layer of coating: keep your fingers in a bath of warm water for 5-10 minutes, treat your hands with an antiseptic, push back and remove the cuticle with well-sharpened nippers, give the free edge of the plates the desired shape;

❷ Now you can polish the free edge of each nail with a glass file, and then treat the surface of the plates with a polishing buffer. Move the tool in one direction;

❸ Soak a lint-free cloth with degreaser and wipe each nail, removing grease stains;

❹ Now we apply several layers of a single-color background coating. It is desirable that the base for the decor be light, pastel colors. If gel polish is used as a base, then you must first apply a base layer, and then polymerize it in a UV lamp;

❺ Using scissors with straight sharp blades, cut out a slider fragment from a single sheet. When cutting out the sticker, consider the size and shape of the nail;

❻ Take the cut-out fragment with thin tweezers and lower it into water for five seconds, and then carefully remove excess moisture from the sticker with a lint-free cloth (second option: dip a cotton pad in water, squeeze out a little and press the cut-out sticker against it for 10 seconds);

❼ Separate the film with the print from the backing and transfer it to the surface of the nail. Smooth out the wrinkles on the film with an orange stick. It is advisable that there be a gap of 1 mm between the cuticle line and the edge of the sticker;

❽ Apply a layer of topcoat to the decorative element and seal the end (if we are working with gel polish, dry the topcoat in a lamp);

❾ At the end of the procedure, rub the softening oil into the periungual skin and cuticle with massage movements.
