In the pop-up window, you need to click on the entry "other characters". Then you need to go to the "font" tab, put "ordinary text" there and select the one you need from the presented characters. You need to double-click on the desired symbol, then press the "insert" key. After that, the window must be closed. Thus, the desired icon will appear in the document.
  6. The function of putting this character is available in the free editor Open Office Writer. To put the required character, you need to go to the "insert" menu and select the "special character" sub-item. In the expanded window, the choice of symbol must be noted in the "set" field. In it, you need to select the appropriate font and double-click on the apostrophe sign or select it. Then you need to press the "select" key. It will appear in the copy box. How to put a character on a Latin keyboard that does not provide for Cyrillic

In this case, two languages need to be added: Russian and Ukrainian. In this case, the apostrophe can be placed in three ways:

  1. In the Ukrainian layout, the apostrophe must be found in the upper left button, in the Latin layout it is the “~” sign. And in the Ukrainian layout, the upper comma is obtained.
  2. In the English layout, you need to find the key that corresponds to the letter "E" in the Russian layout.
  3. The Russian keyboard layout does not need to be switched, the required character can be typed using the Alt + 39 key combination on the numeric keypad.

Some advise to press the NumLock button, but the desired character is obtained both with this button and without it.

Non-traditional input method

This input method is not so popular, only advanced users own it. But there is no difficulty in this method, you just need to remember the combination of hot buttons "Alt + 0146". Please note that in this case you need to use the numbers from the right digital block. The upper digital rows are not suitable for this. The advantage of this method is that you do not need to lay out another keyboard. The disadvantage of this method is the complex combination of keyboard shortcuts.

You can use the built-in symbol table in Windows to write characters. This table can be opened in several ways. For example, you can press the "start" key, then press the "Windows + R" key, then launch the "run" interpreter and press the "charmap" key. When the table appears, you need to select the apostrophe sign. To do this, click the "select" button, and then click on "copy". So the upper comma character will be copied to the clipboard. Now it remains to put it in the right place. This method has a minus - this is a small input speed and the obligatory presence of a mouse.

For yourself, you need to decide which way to enter the desired character is better to use. The article presented many ways to set the necessary punctuation mark. Which method to use is up to the user to decide.

We suggest you study the keyboard in order to achieve high speed typing and changing text.

If necessary, put the upper comma on the keyboard in several ways. To put an upper comma, go to the "Insert" menu and select the item "Special characters ...". The top comma is properly called an apostrophe. Therefore, those who often type a large number of texts, master a different way of setting the upper comma. Consider the ways in which you can print the upper comma.

Only this is not called “a comma from above”, but, respectively, an apostrophe and a grave (or a reverse apostrophe or a side accent sign). Look at the letter "E" and "Yo" on the keyboard. As a result of these actions, an apostrophe will appear instead of the typed digits at the cursor location.

Everything would be fine, but I did not know how to put an apostrophe!! The computer science teacher said that if I don’t know how to put an apostrophe, then I simply can’t put marks above the three. In the Russian layout, without switching anywhere, we get an apostrophe with the key combination Alt + the number 39 on the numeric keypad.

We put the upper comma on the keyboard using a key combination

An apostrophe is a non-alphabetic spelling mark in the form of a superscript comma, which is used in alphabetic writing in different languages in various functions. There is another way to put an apostrophe, a little more complicated and less convenient, but, nevertheless, quite working.

The numbers typed at the top of it will not work. Since the apostrophe is very common in English, you can change the keyboard layout to English to print it. Putting an apostrophe will allow the Microsoft Word text editor. Consider the example of version 2007. Click on the "Insert" menu and select the "Symbol" item there.

After that, press the key with the Russian letter "E" on the keyboard

It is located to the left of the Enter key. Only be sure to use the numeric keypad located to the right of the main one. My keyboard is generally Latin, which did not provide for Cyrillic. The apostrophe is very often used in English (for example, the word it's is short for it is), sometimes in Russian. The next step is to press the letter E on your keyboard.

There is another type of apostrophe on the keyboard, as far as I know, it is used in Ukrainian, although I may be wrong

In this case, it is very important that this method only works with the numeric keypad, which is located on the right side of the main keyboard. If you are using a laptop, then typing in this case is usually done with the Fn button pressed. I recommend using the first method as the easiest and most convenient. But you must type the numbers on the numeric keypad, and not in the row that is above the letters, otherwise nothing will work.

Accordingly, when typing texts in English, it often becomes necessary to enter this character in the editor used. Internet query statistics show that a certain number of users experience problems with the apostrophe. This is most often done by pressing Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift. I didn’t know about the second method before, I used only the first one, thanks, maybe it will come in handy in the future.

I suffered all my life, went to "Insert", chose "Symbol" there, and in the list of various symbols that appeared, chose an apostrophe, then clicked "OK". Whole story. I remember that ill-fated day when there was a computer science lesson at school. In the English layout, the key, which in Russian corresponds to the letter e. It is circled in green in the picture.

The apostrophe will appear where you wanted it

As you can see, I no longer have problems with the apostrophe, but through the “E” the apostrophe does not work for me. Some users do not know how to do this, so they simply copy the sign from other words. Believe me, there is a much easier way. Remember. To translate the layout, you need to press the key combination CTRL + SHIFT or ALT + SHIFT, depending on the settings of your operating system.

However, if you press the NumLock button, the digital block will turn on the letter block, and you can carry out the necessary manipulations. After that we close the window. The desired icon appears in the document. A similar feature is also available in the free text editor OpenOffice Writer. You can use the symbol program built into Windows.

Select the appropriate font and double-click on the apostrophe icon or select it and click "Select". Now select it, copy it to the clipboard and paste it where necessary. This is done by successively pressing the key combinations Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. In Russian, the apostrophe was the predecessor of a solid sign, and is now used when writing foreign proper names and place names.

The comma is in lowercase on the Del key on the numeric keypad when the Russian locale is selected. Change your keyboard to English layout. First, select the place in the text where you want to add the leading comma. Open the text with an editor in which you want to put an apostrophe and set the cursor to the right place with a left click after hovering the mouse. Putting it up is easy. Hold down the Alt key on your keyboard.

A huge number of articles, scientific papers and reports are created in the MS Word text editor. The use of English or French allows the need to insert a specific character above the letters. Each of us had to insert an apostrophe in the Word, thereby indicating the abbreviation of a word or the transcription of a phrase. There are several variations of adding an apostrophe in the text, and we will analyze which ones below.

Inserting an apostrophe from the keyboard

If necessary, put a comma above the letter, you can use the simplest way. Place the mouse pointer after the desired letter where the apostrophe is needed. Switch to the English text input layout using the Shift+Alt combination. Press the "E" key twice. Two "''" characters will appear, an upper opening comma and an apostrophe comma. You need to remove the opening comma and the standard upper comma in the form of an apostrophe will remain.

Upper comma with code

All characters that are inserted in the Word have an individual code. The so-called apostrophe is also supported by a special code number. To put a comma on top in the desired word, place the cursor on a specific place and enter "02BC" without quotes and be sure to note that the letters "BC" must be written in the English layout. Next, you need to press the key combination "Alt + X", where "X" is an English letter. Use Shift+Alt to switch to the English keyboard.

Inserting an upper comma with "Symbol"

All kinds of mathematical signs, symbols and hieroglyphs that are not available to users on a conventional keyboard are inserted using the "Symbol" function. If you need a comma above the letter, the "Symbol" button will really help out. So, you should go to the "Insert" tab and click on "Symbol". Then select "More Symbols".

In the window that opens, in the "Set" section, you need to specify "letters for changing spaces." The Font section remains unchanged. Select the apostrophe sign from all the presented characters and click "Insert".

Note. You can specify "punctuation marks" in the "Set" area, find the desired character and insert it.
