How to make a bathroom in a wooden house. Toilet on the second floor in the country house The basics of designing a bathroom in a country house

The author says: So, there was a need to make a kitchen on the second floor. The rooms there were made a long time ago. I did it together with my father, because hiring someone for a specific job is more expensive for myself. I decided to take a picture later, so the original view is like this. Bare beams on the ground floor. Metal channels were placed between the beams for reinforcement. The level was brought out with the help of bars for laying the bathroom screed. All bars were treated with an antiseptic against insects and rot. The wall in the middle of the photo is load-bearing, then there will be cabinets and a gas stove on it. The walls are insulated with mineral wool.

We put a sheet of steel 2.5 mm thick on the beams so that the screed does not play later.

This is a view at the entrance to the future kitchen with a bathroom. Any kind of rubbish

We put a metal mesh.

We fill the screed, cement M500 1: 3
Visible sewer hole

The screed seized, little by little we drag the floorboards, planed pine.

We tighten the floor, the first stage. A month later, he will stretch again to remove the cracks.

The coupler seized, the floor was pulled together. We put partition racks between the bathroom and the kitchen.
Moreover, we do not attach to the ceiling, because. this is unreliable, but we take it to the attic, there we tighten it with two long bars, nailing the racks and bars to the beams. All racks are even, dry, leveled.

While the essence of the matter, I pull the electrician. There are only two inputs to this room, one power 25A - a water heater, kettles, washing machines. The second 16A - the rest. Total - seven double sockets with grounding.

We insulate the partition with polystyrene foam and mineral wool, more likely for soundproofing. And we serve drywall piece by piece. Green for the bathroom, white for the kitchen.

We begin to screw the cardboard with self-tapping screws. For this, a screwdriver was purchased.

The exhaust ventilation pipes were sewn up, a nook turned out. There will be a locker type and shelves.
Well, they made a ventilation hole in the nofsyakey. There will be separate ventilation for the stove.

We insert a window and a door into the bathroom. A window to see a white friend when the light goes out. By the way, it is checked, it gives enough light

laying tiles, starting from the bathroom. Tiled local - Berezovsky tile factory. Clay Lux Plus for external works - a thing!!!

The floor will be pulled a second time. And the gypsum putty begins, the usual white Acryl Putz.

I bought plastic MDF for the ceiling, my wife approved.
He began to nail it with a stapler, sparing no staples.
In the meantime, I put a 30mA RCD on a 25A input.

Ceiling, well, sockets are screwed. And now all 7 are powered, before that there were 2 wires sticking out of the wall.

Floor sanded and glossy varnished
We didn't grind.
He began to conduct water, metal-plastic pipes.

Here it is a metal-layer and an input of cold water.

I put the sink, screwing it to the pre-planned bars in the partition
Linen in the sink for sealing threaded pipe connections.
And a drawing, by the way, made in the form of a photo, with dimensions, printed on a printer. very comfortably!

The pipes are installed, the water heater hangs, but does not heat yet
In the corner of a 2-meter 50 mm sewer pipe

Test run of water in the bucket and check for leaks. Only the mud filter leaked, which was not squeezed, but squeezed and everything is ok.

Installed toilet, bath, sewerage. And the heater is hot.
On occasion, I bought a washing machine and decided to immediately drag it to the second floor. Erases

bathroom

Bathroom ventilation. It was decided to make a knee, in one - a fan with shutters, turned on - they opened.
The second is a diffuser with a screw cap. In the summer, it unscrews and naturally the air is drawn out. For the winter, it is screwed down, and only the fan is used as needed, so that the heat does not go in vain.

Cooking device. It's also necessary. But the gas to the kitchen is only a month later, you know, it's the season.

While waiting for gas, I decided to gradually settle down.
Electricity is available and normal.
All that's left is wallpapering, plinths, furniture. In general, little things.
Everything on the sim!

What is good about a two-story wooden house? Yes, everything is cozy, spacious and comfortable in it. In addition, wooden housing construction is a trend of recent years, respectively, the building materials market for it is developing at an accelerated pace, and there will be no problems with the construction of even the most luxurious house, filled with all sorts of technical or other innovations.

But during the operation of the house, one problem still appears. As a rule, bedrooms are located on the second floor. This is logical. But when designing, many people forget about this moment: sometimes at night you want to go to the toilet. And in order to fulfill this need, you will have to not only get out of a comfortable bed, but also go down to the first floor. It is very inconvenient, and sometimes dangerous - going down the stairs in a sleepy state is fraught with a fall. What is the conclusion? It is logical - on the second floor you need a bathroom. And if it comes to that, then not only a toilet, but also a shower or a small bath. And the more rooms, the more necessary the bathroom.

Features of the arrangement of the bathroom on the second floor

There is one main rule that is valid for all houses, not only wooden ones: it should be located strictly above the bathroom of the first one. In the same way as risers are arranged in apartment buildings. And in no case should a toilet with a bath be located above the living room, nursery or kitchen.

The second point, which concerns specifically wooden houses: the tree does not like moisture very much. An exception is larch, but a house entirely built of larch is a rarity. And the rest of the rocks swell from the water, begin to rot, turn into dust, and no antiseptics or other treatments will help. Therefore, when designing arranging a bathroom any contact of the tree with water must be excluded.

Floor installation on the second floor

The base of the floor is wooden beams. This is a constructive part of the house, which relies on load-bearing walls. They make beams from a bar with a section of either 150 × 150 mm or 200 × 200 mm. All beams are placed parallel to each other, at a distance of 0.6 m, the first beam is fixed no further than 5 cm from the wall. Fastening to load-bearing walls - metal corners. Naturally, all wooden elements are carefully treated with flame retardants and antiseptics.

Bars are attached to the beams, on both sides, so that each bar is flush with the beam. On these bars are mounted sheathing from boards tightly fitted to each other. The underside of the cladding is the ceiling of the first floor. And the upper side is necessarily covered with either a clay-sand mortar or waterproofing. But taking into account the combustibility of waterproofing materials, it is better to choose a solution. Thermal insulation (slag, expanded clay, mineral wool) is laid between the beams. The final stage is vapor barrier. And if this is an optional requirement for living rooms, then where the bathroom will be located, vapor barrier is required. Next - a rough flooring of boards, on top of which the flooring is laid.

This is the standard arrangement of the floor on the second floor.

The second option - without thermal insulation:

1. A 2.5 mm thick steel sheet is laid on the beams, fastened to the beams.

2. A cement screed reinforced with mesh is made on it. Naturally, do not forget about the holes for water and sewer pipes. Waterproofing is laid under the screed.

3. After the screed has dried, lay the subfloor from the boards.

4. Tiles are already being laid on it.

Which of the two options to choose depends on many factors, the main of which are the design features of the house (the bearing capacity of the foundation, the characteristics of the walls and beams). But the main thing to remember is that wood should not come into contact with water.

Another important point is the installation of sewer and water pipes. They are laid under the floor, necessarily on elastic suspensions, so that the pipeline is not tied to the floor structure.

Myself floor in the bathroom of a wooden house it is worth making 2-3 cm below the floor in neighboring rooms - in case of a leak, they will not be flooded. The waterproofing of the floor should go onto the walls by several centimeters (at least 20). For the subfloor, only moisture-resistant boards, chipboards can be used.

Listing features of arranging a bathroom in a wooden house, you need to remember one more important point: such work should be carried out only after complete shrinkage of the house. The time required for shrinkage depends on the material from which the building is built. Least of all time is needed for glued timber (it almost does not shrink), most of all - for ordinary timber, rounded logs.

How to finish the ceiling and walls?

In any bathroom, the surfaces that are most exposed to moisture are the floor and ceiling. Everything is clear with the floor - tiles are being laid. What to do with the ceiling? The best option is to sheathe it with plastic or other moisture-resistant material that is attached to a special crate.

But the walls can be left wooden - except for those that are adjacent to the bath or shower. Only first they need to be coated with varnish or other composition that protects the tree from water.

Ventilation

Any bathroom needs ventilation, and even more so in a wooden house. The best option for such a room is forced ventilation, but for its arrangement you need to use only special equipment for bathrooms, with the highest level of fire protection. The installation itself should be supported by metal brackets (do not come into contact with wood), ventilation ducts should only be flexible and non-combustible. In places where ventilation ducts pass through the ceilings, there must be compensation holes. And fire dampers are a must. The equipment is placed in the attic, only a fan (moisture-proof) is installed in the bathroom.

Other features of the arrangement of the bathroom

There is one difficulty: often - a very small room, also with a low ceiling. Therefore, the work can be complex - it is inconvenient to work in a limited space, so it is worth optimizing all processes as much as possible using modern materials and tools - this way the work time will be reduced without compromising quality. And it is better to think over in advance how these materials, equipment, plumbing will be delivered to the second floor.

This article will consider an example of planning, its main principles and nuances, as well as the stages of planning.

Bathroom projects are carried out in such a way as to achieve maximum comfort with maximum functionality, because in the morning a person gains vigor here, and before going to bed he relaxes and enjoys it.

The bathroom and toilet rooms are the smallest in terms of area, but their limited size does not diminish their importance. In order for housing to be truly comfortable, the design of the bathroom must provide sufficient space for it, and in some cases not even one bathroom is arranged, but several.

At the same time, it should be borne in mind that too large an area of such a room is also a waste of both living space and finances.

Therefore, the design standards for bathrooms provide for their careful planning even at the stage when a house project is being created.

Using this approach allows you to determine in advance which room will be more comfortable if its area is increased, and in which case you can save a few square meters without compromising overall functionality.

Quite important is also the question of what is better - a combined or adjacent bathroom. In general, a sanitary unit is a place where a person takes sanitary and hygienic procedures. In the case of a combined bathroom, the toilet and bath are located in the same room, and in the case of a separated one, in different rooms.

In everyday life, a bathroom is most often understood as a room in which a wash basin and a toilet bowl are located, sometimes also a shower cabin. In order to avoid confusion between these concepts, in the future we will call a room with a washbasin and a toilet bowl a restroom, and if in addition there is a shower in it, a bathroom.

Useful: a large room, which also has a bath, is usually called a bathroom. Such rooms are usually not intended for guests, but only for the owners of the house. They are located in a private part of the home, most often near the bedroom. Nearby, the layout of a small bathroom is also usually performed.

bathroom layout requirements

  1. The optimal situation involves the presence of a window in the bathroom, providing natural ventilation and lighting of the room. If it is not possible to equip a window in the bathroom, forced ventilation should be provided to remove condensate resulting from intense vaporization;

Useful: it is best that the window in the bathroom faces east, you can also bring the window to the northeast or north.

  1. For bathrooms of various layouts, the following minimum area requirements apply:
  1. In addition, the minimum distances between the walls of the bathroom and the equipment should be observed:

Number of sanitary facilities and their location

Consider the main factors that should be considered when designing bathrooms:

  • The number of bathrooms is chosen depending on the area of the house and how many people live in it. In the case of a one-story house of a small area, in which there are no more than two bedrooms, one bathroom and one bathroom or closet near the living room are most often equipped.
    The layout of the combined bathroom for guests may also be considered, and it is advisable to make the door to the bathroom or restroom in the hall, and not in the common room for relaxation;

Important: when planning a bathroom, you should not place the toilet near the dining room or kitchen.

  • In the case of a two-story house, which has three or more bedrooms, in which two adults and two children live, the layout of the bathrooms is as follows: on the first floor - a guest toilet, on the second - 2 bathrooms, of which one is located near the parent bedroom , the second, facing the corridor - is used by children;
  • If there is a guest bedroom on the ground floor, the best option is to equip the bathroom, not the restroom. At the same time, the bathroom should be located close enough to both the guest room and the rest room;
  • With permanent residence in the house of the elderly, a separate full-fledged bathroom is provided near their bedroom (usually on the ground floor), and a shared bathroom is planned for guests near the public area;
  • Maximum comfort is ensured by such a layout of bathrooms, when each bedroom has a separate bathroom, and on the ground floor there is a shared guest bathroom. The rationality of such a decision is determined only by the area of the house and the financial capabilities of the owners;
  • If there are several floors in the house, it is recommended to place bathrooms one above the other in order to save on laying various communications;

Important: do not place bathrooms above living quarters.

  • When considering the expansion of the bathroom, you should also think in advance where the washing machine will be placed. The ideal option is to equip a separate laundry room for washing, drying, ironing and other household needs;
  • The bathrooms do not require intense natural light, so they can be located near the north wall, which is not recommended to be equipped with windows.

Important: in the case of bathrooms with large windows or access to a balcony or terrace, placement on the cold north side is not recommended.

Restroom layout

The restroom is considered quite comfortable when it can accommodate a washbasin and a toilet, requiring a total area of one and a half square meters. A urinal and a bidet in private homes are rarely installed, only if there is free space, which is more often occupied by washing and drying machines, cabinets for storing linen, etc.

The layout project of a small toilet is associated with the size of the room itself and the possibility of increasing it thanks to the corridor. There are several tricks to expand the space, unless you were planning to tear down the wall:

  • Free the restroom from a pile of things (for example, rearrange the washing machine in the bathroom);
  • Install a hanging toilet. It saves space and is the perfect outlet for a small space;
  • Adapt a niche above the toilet and place cleaning and disinfectants there, which will allow you not to put a cabinet;
  • Use a glossy floor, wall or ceiling design. Then the restroom will visually become larger, due to the reflection of light.

A large lavatory can also be converted into a bathroom by placing a shower cabin in it, and it may be necessary to increase the bathroom at the expense of the corridor. Adding a window to a restroom can make it more attractive, but rational use of space requires a window sill height of 130 centimeters or more, which allows you to install a toilet bowl under it or organize a storage area.

Implementation of the layout of the bathroom

Consider the main nuances of competent bathroom planning:

  • In the case of a complex configuration of the bathroom, which does not allow the use of a traditional shower tray due to its dimensions, you can use a shower panel that is attached to the wall.
    Around the panel, spaces of the size required for maximum convenience are fenced off;

shower panel

Useful: laying out the same floor tiles of the bathroom and its shower part allows you to visually increase the size of the room.

  • When planning a bathroom, a bathtub, washbasin and toilet bowl can be placed on an area of 3.3 m 2 . If it is necessary to install a washing machine, the minimum room size is 3.5 m 2 .
    In, which are usually located near the main bedroom, a second washbasin, a shower cabin, a bidet, a urinal, cabinets for storing cosmetics, linen, household chemicals, etc. can be additionally placed;

Important: the free placement of all the listed equipment requires an area of at least 8 square meters for comfortable use of the bathroom.

  • In the case of an even larger room, the bathtub can be installed in the center, while accessing it from all sides.
  • Nearby, you can put a chair made of waterproof or quick-drying material. At the same time, various cabinets are installed at a distance from the bath, because, despite their coating with special compounds, constant exposure to moisture reduces their service life;

  • When planning a bathroom for the elderly, it is recommended to increase the width of the various aisles by placing less equipment. Instead of a bath, it is recommended to install a shower equipped with a seat, the width of the passage to it should be at least 1 meter.
    In addition, such a bathroom should not have slippery rugs or tiles on the floor, and the distance between the tub and the towel holder or heated towel rail should be about 50-70 cm.

That's all I wanted to talk about planning. The implementation of the recommendations and instructions of this article will allow even at the construction stage to properly plan the bathroom, ensuring the convenience, reliability and comfort of its operation.

The layout of many apartments often does not suit their owners, and it does not matter: a typical apartment or in a house built according to an individual project - the owners have complaints about their configuration.

Often this is due to the small size of auxiliary premises, such as storage rooms, etc. And redevelopment is the only way to somehow solve this problem. However, not only the happy owners of panel Khrushchevs change the layout of their apartments, but also the inhabitants of apartments in quite modern houses, and their requests are quite diverse due to the greater.

For example, many of our readers are interested in such how to arrange a second bathroom in the apartment and in this article we will try to answer frequently asked questions from the audience.

As we said, this redevelopment is possible, and to a greater extent this is true for owners of apartments of a sufficiently large area. This is due to two indicators, the first is that in apartments of a small area one bathroom is more than enough, and the second is that in most cases it is simply impossible to arrange a second bathroom in a small apartment, there are no suitable premises.

But when installing a second bathroom, there are many restrictions and it’s not a fact that even in a large apartment it will be possible to do it. Let's try to open the topic:

The bathroom belongs to the premises of the “wet” type, and on this basis we come across the most important legislative prohibition - the premises of wet zones, it is strictly forbidden to arrange above the kitchens and living areas of the lower apartments.

That is, an additional bathroom can only be arranged in a non-residential area for another purpose, it can be either a corridor, or a pantry, or something else.

The main thing is that under your future bathroom, the neighbors below do not have a kitchen or a living room. If you live on the first floor and there is no living space below you (and there is none there, since it is forbidden to live in the basement in our country), then a bathroom can also be arranged in the living room. It goes without saying that you will have to arrange a waterproofing layer and separate the restroom from the living quarters with a box.

The second bathroom in a four-room apartment, project, photo:

One of the mandatory requirements (again, of course, but worth recalling) is the availability of the necessary utilities - a drain riser, cold and hot water, and a ventilation duct that should lead to the ventilation duct of the old bathroom. The technical side of the issue is no less important here. The second bathroom, as a rule, will be at a considerable distance from the water supply and sewerage risers and the organization conducting repair and construction work, often you have to rack your brains before completing the order.

After all, it is necessary to comply with the laws of physics, since there must be at least some kind of slope for water and sewer pipes for draining, and it is desirable to do without additional “corners”, “bends” and “inserts”. Given the required slope of the drain pipe (3 centimeters per meter for a pipe of 50 mm and 2 centimeters for a "weave"), you can calculate the height of the toilet bowl relative to the floor level.

What definitely should not be forgotten is the requirement to provide access to utilities, and it is better to equip drain pipes with inspection hatches, which will help with possible congestion.

After we have dealt with the pipes, it is worth talking about how to coordinate the redevelopment with the device of the second bathroom in the apartment .

In most cases, an additional bathroom is arranged on the area of the corridor that adjoins the bedroom and organize an exit from this bathroom to the bedroom.

By law, exit from the premises of the sanitary zones to the living rooms is prohibited, but in this case this restriction does not apply, since there is a condition that if the apartment already has a bathroom, it is possible to make an exit from the second bathroom to the living room .

Therefore, before planning a second bathroom, if you do not have all the necessary skills, it is better to consult with professionals both from the legal side of the issue and from the technical side. Without undue shyness, we can note that we are just the same specialists and can carry out your redevelopment from a consultation to a new BTI registration certificate. We also develop redevelopment projects and technical reports. Here is an example of one of our projects implemented in the context of the topic of the article. You can find other interesting projects in the section "Completed objects"

The device of the second bathroom in the apartment of a residential building, project:

Formally, the following documents are required from you: BTI registration certificate, application, two copies of the redevelopment project and a copy of the certificate of ownership. And if you can write an application and get a BTI registration certificate on your own, then only design organizations with SRO approval can develop a redevelopment project for you. In addition to the project, you will also need a technical opinion on the safety of your redevelopment

Continuing the topic of licensing: only builders with SRO approval have the right to fill out certificates of inspection of hidden work, so take the choice of workers responsibly. In addition to acts of hidden work, you will need to keep a work log.

The result of the repair will be a visit to your apartment by the acceptance committee, which will determine how accurately you implemented the design solutions and whether there were any "author's improvements" that fall into the category of violations. If everything goes smoothly, you will receive an act of completed redevelopment, by attaching it to the application to the BTI, you can get a new registration certificate for your apartment.
