As a result, the content of fusel oil in strong drinks directly depends on the contamination of the raw materials. It is because of this that moonshine from molasses or beet juice has an unpleasant taste and aroma, so the use of a reflux condenser becomes advisable, despite the increase in the time required for distillation.

For most types of raw materials, it is quite enough to use a collapsible steam tank, which partially performs the functions of a reflux condenser. These include:

  1. Sugar.
  2. Starch.
  3. Candies.
  4. Jam or fresh fruit.

Now there is no shortage of choice; you can choose a device to suit your taste. But if you already have a rough idea of ​​what this part should look like and the principles of its functioning, then you can try to make this necessary element for a moonshine still with your own hands.

To do this you will need:

  • a glass jar with a volume of one to three liters (although there is no point in taking a jar that is too large) with a screw-on metal lid;
  • two fittings with external threads and two nuts;
  • rubber or silicone gaskets or heat-resistant sealant;
  • drill of the required diameter.

How to assemble a steamer. First, you need to mark the places where the fittings are attached, placing them on the cover and outlining them with a pencil. Then you need to make holes in the lid with a drill and a drill bit. The cut in the lid can also be made using an awl. Then the fittings are installed and secured with nuts. The joints must be sealed with gaskets or sealed with silicone. And it’s better to use both methods at the same time for reliability. The fittings are connected to the tubes leading from the distillation cube and into the refrigerator. All connections must be carefully sealed.
