Five obligatory Muslim prayers: fajr, zuhr, asr, maghreb and isha... The prescribed prayer times are determined by the position of the sun. Therefore, prayer times vary from day to day and depend on the location on the surface of the Earth. To correctly determine the time of prayer, you need to know the coordinates and the current date.

Fajr- morning prayer at dawn. Fajr begins with a streak of light on the horizon and ends with sunrise.

Sunrise- the time of the appearance of the first sunbeam above the horizon.

Zuhr- midday prayer. Zuhr begins shortly after the sun reaches its highest point (zenith) and ends with the beginning of asr.

Asr- afternoon prayer. The time of the beginning of the prayer asr is defined in different ways in different schools of law. Two options:

  • When the length of the object's shadow equals its height.
  • When the length of the object's shadow becomes twice the height of the object.

Asr ends at sunset.

Sunset- the time when the sun drops below the horizon.

Maghreb- evening prayer after sunset. The Maghreb begins after the sun sinks below the horizon and ends with the isha prayer.

Isha- night prayer after dawn. Isha begins when the sky becomes dark and there is no diffused sunlight.

The times of Fajr morning prayer and Isha night prayer are based on the time of astronomical twilight. During astronomical twilight the sun is 12 to 18 degrees below the horizon. After the end of the evening and before the beginning of the morning astronomical twilight, the sun is more than 18 degrees below the horizon and the sky is absolutely dark.
Different Islamic organizations use different angles from 15 to 19.5 degrees to determine the times of Fajr and Isha prayers.

At high latitudes in the Arctic Circle and to the north of it, as well as in the Arctic Circle and to the south of it, at certain times of the year the sun does not drop below the horizon at all, or only drops slightly below the horizon. As a result, the sky is never completely dark during this period of the year. There are various methods for determining Fajr and Isha prayer times for high latitudes:

  • Nearest latitude method. The latitude of 48 ° is used to determine the intervals between the Fajr prayer and sunrise, as well as between sunset and Isha prayer.
  • Next day method. The closest to the current day is used, for which it is possible to calculate the Fajr and Isha prayer times using the standard method for these coordinates.
  • Midnight Method. The point in time is calculated, lying in the middle between sunset and sunrise. The time for Isha prayer is considered to be a moment in time shortly before the middle of the night, and the time for Fajr prayer is considered to be a moment in time shortly after the middle of the night.
  • One-Seventh Night Method. The time between sunset and sunrise is divided into seven equal intervals. The time for isha prayer is after the first interval. Fajr prayer time is after the sixth interval.

A detailed explanation of the rules for calculating prayer times can be found in the article The Determination of Salaat Times by Dr. Monsour Ahmed.

To calculate prayer times, we use programs based on the Pray Times project by Hamid Zarrabi-Zade.

When calculating prayer times for high latitudes, the midnight method is used.

For each city, we select a point within the city as the "city center" and use the coordinates of this "center" to calculate the prayer times. The prayer times for other points in or near this city will be slightly different from those shown above.

This Sunday, perhaps, would have remained in memory as not rainy in December, if not for the festive atmosphere that was created today on the square near the Oktyabr CC!

According to the press service of the Ministry of Property Relations of the Moscow Region, 12 hectares of land are included in the boundaries of the village of Criulino in the Pavlovsky Posad urban district. The category of the plot was changed from agricultural land to the land of settlements, and the type of land use was also changed from agricultural production to individual housing construction.

During December, the TRP Center Elektrostal is testing everyone who wants to pass the bullet shooting test.

Elektrostal schoolchildren were among the winners and prize-winners of the social advertising competition “Man and garbage - who will win?”.

The Moscow Regional Duma on Thursday adopted a law in three readings, according to which Elektrostal will receive the status of a city of regional subordination.

The competition was attended by community teams from Moscow, Noginsk, Lyubertsy, Orekhovo-Zuevo, Kolomna, Pavlovsky Posad. The hosts of the holiday presented 2 teams: "Elektrostal-1" and "Elektrostal-2".

Bogatyrs of different nationalities (Tatars, Uzbeks, Dagestanis, Tajiks, Chechens, Ingush, Russians, etc.), united by the religion of the Most High, came to Elektrostal to communicate with fellow believers, as well as compete in lifting a 24-kilogram kettlebell, wrestling and tug rope.

The event was attended by the deputy head of the city district Elektrostal Sergey Zuikov.

Opening the festival, the chairman of DUMMO Rushan-khazrat Abbyasov greeted the Muslims and thanked the organizers - the Muslim community of Elektrostal “Sabyr” - and the city administration, which, seeing a good and healthy start, supported the athletes by providing a gym with all the amenities.

Rushan Hazrat in his welcoming speech reminded the audience of the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that "A strong Muslim is better than a weak Muslim, although there is good in each of them" ... In addition, Abbyasov noted that this festival took place at a time when the Winter Olympic Games are being held in Sochi.

After registration and weighing, the participants were divided into weight categories. At first, the athletes competed in arm wrestling.

Having interrupted for lunch prayer, the Muslims continued to compete in lifting weights. It is worth noting that Hafiz of the Koran, a student of the Moscow Islamic University Ayatullo-khazrat Zarifi, who played for the Noginsk team, took part in this tournament. He took one of the prizes.

The participants then selected the best tug-of-war.

After counting the points, the jury announced the names of the winners. They were awarded medals, cups and certificates of honor. Elektrostal-2 was recognized as the best in the team event.

At the end of the festival, the participants took a collective photo and continued communication over lunch at a local cafe.

Prayer of memory

Ten years ago, in Elektrostal, at the intersection of Mira and Tevosyan streets, a memorial to the victims of political repressions appeared. Since then, it is here that rallies have been held in honor of the victims of mass arrests, evictions and executions.

They were remembered today with their heads bowed over the scarlet carnations. The rally was attended by Deputy Head of Administration Vladimir Kostromitin, Deputy of the Moscow Regional Duma Linara Samedinova, Hero of Russia Gennady Tsatsorin, representatives of veteran organizations, deputies, schoolchildren, caring electricians. The youth were admonished not to admit injustices and not to repeat the terrible mistakes of the past. After a minute of silence, flowers were closed at the foot of the monument.
