Types and types of swimming pools. What are the types of pools? What are the pools?

We will call a pool an artificial reservoir built for swimming, bathing or for decorative purposes, in which there is water circulation through a filtration system. If you pour water into a trough, it is not a pool, because no circulation.

Inflatable

The most affordable type of pool. Only round shapes with small diameters are available. A ring is inflated with air, which lifts and holds the side of the PVC pool due to the Archimedean force. Such pools can be assembled/disassembled many times. The included filtration system is usually cartridge type. Afraid of frost, sharp pebbles, twigs, animal claws and other sharp objects. Everything together will not last long and will require immediate replacement. Rather belongs to the category of toys. Outdoor installation is recommended.

Frame

Unlike inflatable ones, the side of the pool here has a rigid frame (plastic or metal). The bottom of the pool is the earth. Inside the frame there is a so-called cup bag (aka liner or liner) made of PVC. Frame shapes are usually limited to circle, oval and rectangle. Cup bags are either frost-resistant or not. Such pools may already come complete with a skimmer, a nozzle, a ladder and a cartridge or sand filter unit. The cost depends on the configuration and quality. It is possible to install a mounted counterflow on metal frames. Outdoor installation is recommended.

Polypropylene

Pools of this type are bowls welded from polypropylene sheets 5-8 mm thick. Stiffening ribs are also welded from pieces of sheet, so the thickness of the sheet and the number of layers affect the cost of the bowl. The quality of welds and their visibility depends on the skill of the manufacturer. But you can make a bowl of any shape from polypropylene. Often, polypropylene bowls are built into an external frame made of wood, metal, concrete and other materials. The advantage of polypropylene is its good resistance to wear and temperature changes. With such pools it is already possible not only to skimmer water intake, but also to install a bottom drain, a built-in counterflow and illumination spotlights. Arrangement is possible both outdoors and indoors.

Composite

The bowl of a composite pool is a continuous rigid monolithic structure made of polyester, plastic, fiberglass or other materials. This gives rise to requirements for transporting a large bowl and subsequent installation in place. As a rule, they are designed for burial outdoors in a specially prepared foundation pit with a sand cushion and a bandage belt. Can be installed indoors if there is an open wall or loaded before walls and roof are erected. The assortment is represented by a limited set of shapes and colors offered by manufacturers, but it is quite sufficient for most cases. The bowl is sealed in itself and does not require additional film covering. A full range of additional equipment is available for installation - countercurrent, springboard, attractions, lighting, etc.

Modular

These pools combine the advantages of frame and polypropylene pools. From individual modules of various shapes, like from a construction set, a rigid frame of a pool of almost arbitrary shape is assembled, including with a difference in depth and a Roman staircase. This modular frame is rigidly mounted on a concrete base, on which a special insulation is laid. The frame is covered on the inside with a frost-resistant PVC film 1.5 mm thick right at the assembly site. Such pools can be assembled both on the surface and buried; can be either skimmer or overflow (the water level is level with the floor). If assembled on the surface, such a pool can be disassembled and assembled if necessary! A big advantage is the quick time it takes to organize a pool, for example in a children's camp for the summer season, with a ready-made foundation in just a few days. Any additional equipment and attractions are also available for installation. Can be installed outdoors or indoors.

Concrete

The most common type of pools all over the world, therefore it has the largest range of equipment. Here, the possibilities of the pool are limited only by the fantasies of the owner. Any dimensions, shapes and colors. Indoors and outdoors. Skimmer and overflow. Recessed or above floor level. Any additional equipment and attractions. Various finishing methods - polypropylene, PVC film, tiles, mosaic, glass or other material. With the development of industry, the cost of concrete has become very low, but with all this diversity lies the insidiousness of this type - you need to have broad knowledge of physics, understand the laws of nature, know many features and have extensive experience over many years. The company building a concrete pool has a lot of responsibility. It is necessary to study the geological basis, make a design of the entire structure, calculate everything down to the smallest detail and strictly follow the plan. Only in this case will the pool please its owner.

Of course, it may seem to you that having your own swimming pool is a privilege for very rich people. In general, you are not mistaken, but there are some “buts”. In a city apartment, building a swimming pool is really very expensive, but in a country house the developer is his own boss and can design and build a swimming pool according to his tastes, capabilities and budget. Common sense dictates that there will be no desire to install a pool on the second floor, it is expensive, and the personal plot still allows it to be placed on the ground.

This fashion came to us from the West. There it is almost unthinkable to have a private house without a swimming pool. But the fact is that the climatic conditions in Russia are not so mild and the outdoor swimming season lasts 2-3 months at best. Therefore, it is more advisable to install a swimming pool in the house.

Types, shapes and sizes of pools

There are two main types of pools - prefabricated and stationary.

Prefabricated pool- not a European, but an American tradition. Assembled in 30 minutes - and go swimming. I need to go to the city for the winter - I took it apart in the same amount of time, put everything in a box and took it with me. American prefabricated swimming pools are represented on the domestic market by two models - “Intex” (Hong Kong) and “Pacific”. The whole difference is that the “Intex” frame uses PVC tubes, while the “Pacific” frame uses duralumin. The height (depth) of children's pools is 76 cm, for adults - 92-105 cm. Such pools hold 6-8 tons of water. The design of “Intex” is elementary. PVC pipes are installed on a flat surface, a kind of fabric is attached to them - polypropylene, trimmed with vinyl, no metal, no hard surfaces. The necessary bolts are screwed in - the pool is standing. Then they pump water into it - and you can swim.

With “Pacific” there is a little more work. There, corrugated steel tape is used as strapping (top and bottom). But with certain skills, you can assemble and install all this yourself. On the domestic market you can also find prefabricated swimming pools “SPLASHER”, “FRIENDS”, “CONCORDE”.

The pool kit usually includes a pump, a filter unit that is placed or hung on the side, hoses and a ladder type ladder.

You can also find very cheap inflatable pools made in China on the market. Usually they have a rather short service life and there is no question of any automatic cleaning - in general, cheap and cheerful.

Stationary pool- the highest quality and complex engineering structure. They are also produced by foreign manufacturers in the form of a set of building materials for its assembly and installation. Prices range from ten thousand dollars to almost infinity, depending on size, finishing and accessories. I will not dwell on such pools in this book, but will move on to more realistic pools that the developer can try to build on his own, that is, at minimal cost.

The simplest solution for creating a swimming pool- this means digging a pit, strengthening and waterproofing it. The durability of the pool depends on the strength of the pit. You can lay a greenhouse film in the pit and sprinkle it with sand to prevent it from tearing. The result will be a one-season structure, but also quite suitable for swimming, playing, and also an excellent decoration for the yard and garden. If the pit is concreted, tiled, and some hydraulic equipment is installed, then such a pool will remain for subsequent generations, i.e., during your lifetime you can erect a monument to yourself (in the form of a pool). Currently, ready-made plastic pool bathtubs made by injection molding have appeared on sale. There are practically no disadvantages to such pools, except for their relatively small sizes and astronomical prices.

It is easier to build an outdoor pool, but it will only function in the warm season (heating a pool in winter is very expensive and difficult). The swimming season can be extended by installing a canopy over the pool and at least slightly insulating the approaches to it. The windows in such a superstructure should be oriented to the south. The materials for the walls and roof of the pool are the same as for the winter garden.

One of the options for placing a pool is to arrange it in the basement, the so-called zero level, where it is impossible to place living rooms and where there is a lot of free space. Here, in the basement, it would be nice to place a sauna and shower.

At a slightly higher cost, you can install a swimming pool on a covered terrace or in a winter garden. In this way, you can create a health complex that includes a swimming pool, gym, sauna, shower and winter garden. It is not forbidden to set up a solarium nearby. However, this is a matter of taste for each owner.

The shape and dimensions of the pool bathtub can be any, it all depends on the tastes and needs of the owner.

For bathing children, one part of the pool is made shallower (about 50 cm). The children's and adult parts can be separated by a wooden bridge at the level of the water surface. In addition, along the transverse walls you can arrange a ledge for rest. It is logical to make the walls of the pool bath with a slope of up to 30 degrees. around the edges. This slope does not interfere with swimming and reduces water consumption. Sloping pool bath walls are often installed in rectangular pools that are much longer than wide.

Almost every dacha owner who often visits his property dreams of installing a swimming pool there. But often the choice leads to a dead end; it is difficult to decide on a specific design. That is why you need to first study some of the nuances of choosing country pools, and only then decide on the most suitable variety.

Pool Features

A swimming pool for a summer house is an excellent solution because it can save you on a hot summer day. So, you can freshen up at any time while at the dacha in hot weather. At the same time, you don’t have to go to the river or take a shower: you can swim in your own pond, located on your summer cottage. Mostly small models are installed at the dacha.

If you visit your summer cottage only in the summer, then purchasing an inflatable pool would be an excellent solution for you. But such designs are most suitable for just taking a dip rather than swimming. If you like to swim, then you will have to take care of installing a frame or in-depth country pool.

A large country pool will not only help you relax and provide the opportunity to swim, but will also become a central element of the landscape design of the site. The peculiarity of the design is that great importance is attached to it, decorating it in all possible ways, since the pool should fit harmoniously into the landscape design. Such designs are complemented by flower beds and flower beds.

You can make a canopy over the pool. It will thus be protected from the bright rays of the sun and from the wind, which can blow leaves and other debris into it. But inflatable mini models do not have a canopy or roof. The water in them is heated by the sun. That is why, before swimming, you need to take water and wait until it warms up.

If you plan to install the structure for many years, then it is better to pay attention to more reliable deep structures. As a rule, these are frost-resistant models that last for decades. For the winter, they are covered with a special film or lid, which is included in the kit.

Another feature is that they often perform a decorative function. That is why many people prefer compact small models. A constant water circulation system, a fountain and other interesting elements are built into them.

The pool can serve as an independent element of decor at night: you can install lighting in it, which will highlight it against the background of other elements of landscape design. In addition, you can hold parties at the dacha and have fun with friends.

The country pool is also used for children. You can leave the kids to rest there so that they don’t interfere while you do your business. Moreover, such pools are completely safe.. You can choose a model that is suitable for the height and age of your child.

The choice of specific design usually depends on who will be swimming in the pool, as well as how long you plan to use it.

There are unusual outdoor closed systems. So, these can be dug-in or frame models that have a roof in the form of a greenhouse on top. Thus, some even use this structure for swimming in winter, installing heating there.

Materials

The material from which country pools are made depends on their design. So, plastic is often used to create. But a plastic pool has a number of disadvantages: it is fragile and not frost-resistant. Usually, plastic designs are small in size. They are quite inexpensive, but do not last as long as other models.

Another option is models from polypropylene. This is a dense, high-quality material that is not affected by temperatures and temperature changes. They are more expensive than plastic models, but the design lasts more than 10 years.

Also popular composite models. These are the highest quality and densest options, which are often used to create a frame. They are frost-resistant and not subject to external influences, including mechanical ones. Composite materials cannot be scratched; usually these are acrylic models.

There is also metal models. As a rule, these are products whose frame is made of metal. The frame pool is made of polycarbonate. It is less reliable, but more attractive in design.

You can also find models whose design is plastic bowl-shaped container. Inflatable pools are made of polyethylene or rubber. These are thin and unreliable materials, but they are perfect as an option for children's bathing.

Types of structures

Most often, when people talk about swimming pools, they mean a fairly large structure, which is a frame concreted in the ground. But it is massive and difficult to install and operate. That is why manufacturers produce many other more affordable and easier to design and install options that everyone can afford. This especially applies to summer outdoor pools. So, there are three main types of summer pools.

Inflatable

This is a small rubber pool. It is a compact and convenient option. It is portable as it is easy to deflate and fold compactly. In addition, it can be removed during the cold season and even brought into the house. But mostly these are models for children or for a small group of adults. The smallest ones are inflatable pools for kids.

But larger inflatable pools are presented for adults. They are deeper, more voluminous, and, accordingly, more expensive. Moreover, they can be of almost any shape, but the most popular are oval and round designs. The main advantage of this type of pool is its cost. This is especially true for small and medium-sized models.

In addition, these designs are distinguished by the fact that with their help you can organize a bathing place for yourself at any time when you want it. All you have to do is inflate it and fill it with water, and then just deflate it. When the pool is not needed, it is deflated and does not take up extra space.

Another important advantage of this model is that it does not require any maintenance. The pool only needs to be rinsed before cleaning or, conversely, before installation.

But this option is not very reliable. They are the easiest to damage, especially if there are sharp twigs and stones on the ground. Since it is made of not very durable rubber, it can tear, and the entire structure will become unusable due to a small hole. In addition, this is not the most beautiful and solid model. Although manufacturers are now presenting very impressive and large-sized models for country cottages.

Installing a pool can take time. It will be difficult to inflate it yourself. To do this, you need to purchase an additional pump. If you accidentally break it, you won’t be able to inflate the pool any other way; the structure will be temporarily unusable. The size of such a pool is chosen depending on the planned location, as well as the area of the site.

Frame

This type is similar to the previous one in that it is installed on top of the ground, and not mounted in a niche, which is typical for stationary pools. Externally, the structure is similar to a foundation pit, which is fixed in one place. It fills with water inside. This design is usually not rearranged, installed for several years.

These pools basically have a PVC frame. This material does not harm human health and does not emit harmful toxins. That is why both children and adults swim in such pools. The outside of the structure is lined with a metal frame or plastic panels. Wherein Try to use the most durable finishes available.

Frame pools are usually round, but there are also square models. Frame pools made of plastic have a bright and unusual design; such an item can become the highlight of your summer cottage. But products with a metal frame look simpler and more straightforward.

But this type of pool also has some disadvantages. So, it requires regular care, unlike models of the previous type. The inside of the pool must be carefully treated and washed with special products.

The water in it must be replaced regularly, otherwise it may bloom due to stagnation.

Frame models must be covered, otherwise the structure will deteriorate from external influences. Therefore, when you are not using it, you need to cover it with a cloth or lid. This cover can be purchased complete with the pool. It protects it from insects, leaves and rain. This design requires constant and regular monitoring to ensure hygiene conditions are maintained.

The pool is impressive in size. It takes up a lot of space on the site and looks quite massive, since its structure is not dug in and rises above the ground. It is noticeable and therefore in any case will become the central part of your summer cottage. To move such a model, it is necessary to completely empty and disassemble it.

But frame pools are not intended to be moved and transported, therefore, a large number of assembly and disassembly cycles may cause the structure to break. In addition, it is not as convenient to drain water from it as, for example, from an inflatable pool.

The cost of this design is average. They are more expensive than inflatable options, but cheaper than in-depth models. This pool is perfect for a medium or large summer cottage. But in a small garden it will look too massive.

But this model, compared to the previous one, is more reliable. The foundation pit is stronger, so there is no chance of puncture or damage in the absence of obvious mechanical stress. It is easy to use: you just need to fill the structure with water using a hose. Such models look bright and stylish. They are easy to select and fit into the layout of your summer cottage

The service life of the frame model is up to 10 years. Such a pool can have a depth of up to 2 m. Deeper and, accordingly, tall structures look unpresentable. This pool provides space for swimming and water games.

For it you need to purchase a special cleaning system.

Deep

This option is a niche in the ground that has a concrete base. The concrete is finished with facing materials in such a way that the structure looks presentable and is pleasant to the touch. There are also models that can be installed in a ready-dug hole. They are ready-made bowls. You just need to prepare a niche of the required size.

This is the most expensive, but most reliable type of summer pool for a summer residence. It is the most durable, it is almost impossible to damage it. Its entire main part is located underground and securely fortified. That is why it is so easy to use. In addition, you can easily choose the size you need. Outwardly, it looks as massive as, for example, a frame one.

It is linear, not volumetric. Thus, the deep pool does not have any bulges and looks minimalist. Although you will not have the opportunity to finish its sides, as may be the case with a frame option, the external structure can be made very presentable. So, high-quality finishing materials and interesting patterns can be placed on top of the edges. This is the most interesting design, since it can be presented in a wide variety of shapes and bizarre geometric shapes.

This pool provides a wide range of functionality that you can increase. So, you can organize the function of constant water circulation, as well as heating. It can be supplemented with lighting and a hydromassage function. Thus, a deep pool can be the highlight of the landscape design of your dacha.

Installing all these additional functional elements is very easy, since the base of the pool is deep underwater. Therefore, you can easily hide all communications. But this is the most difficult type of pool to maintain; it requires constant care. It needs to be washed regularly and the water in it replaced. In addition, this is the most expensive design. It will take a lot of effort to install it.

Such models are the most difficult to install compared to other designs. In addition, this requires a number of preparatory procedures and the arrangement of a recess. Its dismantling is difficult. To do this, a number of construction works will have to be carried out. More inexpensive are bowl-shaped deep pools, which are easier to install yourself.

The cheapest deep pools are plastic bowls. They also take a long time to install, but are not as reliable. The design is lightweight and resistant to external influences, including chemicals. A ladder for descending can already be built into such a bowl, which makes it easier to use.

On average, the thickness of its walls is about 1 cm. Such models do not require additional finishing. Plastic bowls can hold about 9000 liters of water. They can also install additional massage devices. For installation, prepare a pit, concrete base or formwork.

There are other classifications of pools. So, there are winter indoor structures, as well as summer structures that are placed outdoors. There are prefabricated pools, which include inflatable and frame ones, and a separate type - a stationary pool, which is presented in the form of an in-depth model.

There are also overflow and skimmer pools. The first type involves installing a special grate along the side, which will draw water into a special storage tank. Thus, this pool can be filled to the very brim. It requires continuous circulation and a good water purification system. The second version of the pool is filled approximately 15 cm below the edges. At the same time, water does not spill in it. The system has a special filter - skimmer.

This system is more suitable for small outdoor pools.

Of particular note is the small decorative pool. Its function is to decorate the landscape design of the dacha and transform the territory of the site. As a rule, these are small multi-tiered containers. They are filled with water, and plants in vases or pots are placed on each tier. As a rule, they are also installed in the pit.

You can easily do this yourself. You just need to choose a bowl for a decorative pool.

Forms and placement

Most often you can find a round or oval pool. The shape usually depends on the design. So, if it is a small outdoor pool, then most likely it will have a round shape. But you can also find small rectangular pools. Inflatable models are often round because they are easier to install. This design is somewhat reminiscent of a swimming ring. In addition, the round design looks more reliable. There are inflatable models that taper slightly at the top, like bowls.

As for frame pools, the variations in shapes are more varied. So, these can be models of regular round or oval shape. Some tall models may also taper at the top. Frame pools often have a polyhedron shape. This is why they can look completely different. There are also diamond-shaped and pentagonal frame models, and even products in the shape of a trapezoid or parallelepiped. A round frame pool is also popular, but it looks a little simpler.

As for deep stationary models, there are a huge number of shape options. As a rule, such models do not have regular shapes and are presented in the form of curvilinear, rather unusual designs. Outwardly, they are not at all similar to standard geometric shapes.

So, you can find interesting models that are made in the shape of a washcloth or pools in the form of entire streams. Such designs are more suitable for long and elongated summer cottages. There are also non-standard models that are shaped like a cloud or even an ordinary puddle, but this shape is more interesting. Popular models in the shape of a figure eight. So, they represent two circles that have a slight narrowing towards the center, and one of the circles is always smaller than the other. Another option is an hourglass-shaped deep pool.

The shape also depends on the type of structure. As a rule, an indoor pool has a more regular shape, since there is an installation near it that completely covers it from above, like a roof. But an outdoor outdoor pool can be of almost any shape.

As for the placement of the pool, then on a summer cottage it is usually installed near the house. This is due to the fact that all communications must reach there so that water can be collected.

Try to predict whether the hose will reach it. A dug-in pool must be placed where it is possible to make a large hole. It is desirable that the soil surface is smooth and not lumpy.

If it is a deep pool, then it can be made a little further from the house, since such a structure does not seem massive. But large frame models are usually placed near the house, since all the buildings in one place will look more harmonious. In order to make the placement of a frame pool more appropriate, you can install a small podium with a ladder near it. This will make it easy to get in and out of after swimming.

Heating and cleaning system

It's no secret that all pools require cleaning. Most often, water is purified with a special filter. This especially applies to open structures, since they require constant maintenance and cleaning of contaminants. So, first of all, for outdoor pools you need to purchase special nets. They can be used to remove large debris, such as leaves, from the water.

But to clean large pools, you need to purchase a special vacuum cleaner for water. But the dirt in it accumulates mainly at the bottom. It is to eliminate this that it is necessary to install a filter. So, you can purchase filter models with a pump. Customer reviews show that they are the most effective and work well against pollution.

Their operating system is as follows: water passes through a filter and is cleaned of all contaminants. After cleaning, the water returns to the pool. Owner reviews show that it is better to use a sand filter to heat and clean the pool. But constantly filtering the same water is not so useful. In addition, filters often become clogged. That is why pool owners indicate that it is better to drain the water periodically.

To clean your pool and ensure its hygiene, you need to properly disinfect it. To do this, you need to purchase chemicals such as chlorine or liquid oxygen. They allow you to control the hardness of the water and make it clear. In addition, they prevent the water from blooming.

A swimming pool near the house will bring joy not only to children, but also to adults. During the hot summer months, you really want to take a dip in the cool water, swim and dive a little. Such procedures are not only pleasant, but also useful. A swimming pool will help make your dream come true. A small private pond near the house is also an excellent addition to the landscape design of the site.

What kind of pools are there? What to choose? It all depends on financial capabilities and goals. There are options in a variety of shapes and sizes.

They can be conditionally divided into three groups: stationary, collapsible and inflatable. Which products are better is up to each owner to decide for himself.

Inflatable pools are the easiest option. Today there are different models of various colors and shapes on sale. These pools have their advantages: easy to store, easy to inflate. However, such products cannot be large in size. And the resistance to mechanical stress leaves much to be desired. Inflatable pools are mostly fun for kids.

Stationary pools

Stationary reservoirs are installed once and for all. Their base is a bowl built into the ground. The shape of the bowl depends on the wishes of the customer. The most popular is the classic rectangle. This is the simplest and most convenient form. However, the pool can be either round or oval. The bowl is usually made of concrete. A facing tile is placed inside, which perfectly protects the surface.

It is quite difficult to build a permanent pool. The task is further complicated by the fact that it is necessary to carry out preparatory work: dig a pit in the ground, install water pipes. Subsequent functional maintenance will require heating and cleaning systems. To protect the pond from excess dirt, you can additionally build an awning.

However, despite all the difficulties, a stationary pond is a comfortable and beautiful pool. Of course, its arrangement requires significant financial and time expenditures. But subsequently, such a reservoir will delight the owners for many, many years. It can be both decorative and swimming.

Since the construction of such structures requires special knowledge and skills, it is better to seek help from specialists. However, knowing the main stages of installation will be useful for every owner.

How to make a permanent pool

What tools and materials will be needed:

Standard pool connection and piping scheme: 1 – prefabricated pool; 2 – filter unit; 3 – skimmer; 4 – nozzle; 5 – stairs; 6 – pipes and fittings; 7 – electrical automation; 8-bottom vacuum cleaner; 9 – chemistry for water treatment; 10 – electric heater; 11 – spotlight; 12 – junction box; 13 – transformer.

  • underwater nozzles;
  • pump;
  • ladder;
  • fittings of various types;
  • materials for waterproofing;
  • concrete;
  • wooden boards for formwork;
  • facing material: tile or mosaic.

Step one. Choosing a location. It is necessary to build a concrete pool so that it does not interfere with plant growth. You should choose a place away from trees and beds.

Step two. Digging a pit. When carrying out work, it should be remembered that the pit must be larger in volume than the planned pool. The difference in dimensions will be filled with concrete. It is necessary to deepen the hole from the sides and bottom by 40-45 cm. Also, we must not forget about the slopes. The bottom of the pit should have a slight slope in the direction where the drain will be. This is necessary for the natural flow of water. The walls are made at a slope of 5 degrees in the outer direction. This is necessary to avoid soil shedding.

Step three. Waterproofing. After the soil in the pit has been compacted, sand is placed at the bottom. The thickness of the layer is at least 30 cm. The sand is covered with roofing material on top. This is an excellent waterproofing material. For greater reliability, you can put two layers of roofing material.

Step four. Filling the walls. Formwork is made from wooden boards around the entire perimeter of the pit. The overall appearance of the future pool depends on the quality of installation of this structure. Next, concrete is poured into the niche. For greater reliability, you can add a metal mesh. After the concrete has hardened, the formwork is removed.

Step five. Pouring the floor. A layer of stones is placed at the bottom of the pool, and then a reinforcing mesh. Next, concrete is poured on top. Layer thickness - 20 cm.

Step six. Final finishing. For the final finishing of the interior of the pool, mosaic or ceramic tiles are suitable. After laying the tiles, you need to attach a staircase and connect communications.

If you decide to build a swimming pool right in your yard, then many questions will immediately arise in your mind. And one of them is the following: What types of swimming pools are there in general, and how do they differ in design? Having answered this question, it is already possible to more specifically determine the construction budget and the construction site itself.

Today we will look at what designs of private tanks exist and which have advantages and disadvantages. We will also determine which options have taken root in Russia the best and the most budget-friendly types.

What are the types of pools?

In general, there are a great many options for installing artificial reservoirs: starting with bowls made of thick cellophane, ending with multi-liter structures that extend into the open sea. But this article will avoid such unusual structures. We will focus on typical and popular designs:

  • Frame;
  • Made of brick;
  • Made from concrete blocks;
  • Made from sheet steel;
  • From polystyrene foam blocks;
  • With plastic bowl;
  • Concrete.

There really are a lot of options. You always have a choice, and no matter what your regional climate, personal budget and other conditions are. To make it clearer, we will describe in detail which structures are remarkable and why.

Frame structures

Frame pools are quite popular because they have advantages that no other type of private water tank construction has. First of all, these are quite affordable prices for frame pools and simple installation.

A frame design is suitable if you want to swim in a regular pool with cool water every day and as quickly as possible. Assembling the frame and preparing the site will not take much time, and most importantly, you can do it yourself without special tools and knowledge.
Advantages of frame structures:

  • Suitable for low-budget construction;
  • Simple and quick assembly;
  • Large selection of different shapes and volumes;
  • If necessary, you can easily move the pool to any location;
  • Frost-resistant models are assembled once and stand all year round;
  • Easy to maintain.
Disadvantages of pools with a frame base:
  • It is difficult to install additional devices: hydromassage and others;
  • Structures that are susceptible to frost need to be dismantled at the end of summer;
  • The weak point is the sides. You won't be able to rely on them to get in or out of the water;
  • You need a platform that is level with respect to the horizon. Even with a slight slope, a huge load is placed on the walls, which they may not be able to withstand.

Brick pools

Brick is a fairly versatile material for construction. He also found a use for himself in laying the walls of the bowl. Brick tanks are stationary pools with a rigid structure. They all have common advantages and disadvantages, but brick has its own nuances.

Often, not bricks are used to lay the walls of the bowl, but polystyrene foam blocks. The main reason for this is the high thermal conductivity of brick.

Advantages of brick tanks:

  • Durable and rigid construction;
  • Nothing limits you in choosing the shape of your future pool;
  • Long service life;
  • It is possible to install additional equipment to expand functionality.

Disadvantages of brick pools:

  • Great thermal conductivity. It is recommended to use polystyrene foam blocks;
  • Installation times are long. If you want to quickly assemble a pool, then a stationary one is not your option;
  • This is far from the cheapest way to become a pool owner.

Concrete block tanks

Concrete block tanks are one of the toughest and most reliable options for building your own artificial pond. Of course, this is far from the cheapest method, but in some regions it is the most preferable.

Pros of a pool made of concrete blocks:

  • Rigid construction;
  • Long service life;
  • Preferred in regions with increased seismic activity of the earth's crust;
  • It is possible to install additional equipment;
  • Freedom to choose the shape and depth of the pool.

Disadvantages of a bowl made of concrete blocks:

  • The use of special equipment is required;
  • High thermal conductivity;
  • Long terms of installation of the structure;
  • Complex construction done entirely with your own hands. Contact professionals with technology and experience.

Swimming pools made of steel sheets

In this case, the side walls of the pool are made of sheet metal. This is not the most popular and easiest to install option. Therefore, he is not very popular.

Advantages of a pool made of steel sheet:

  • Simplicity of design;
  • Cheaper than concrete and brick options.

Disadvantages of a metal bowl:

  • Limitations in choosing the shape of the pool;
  • Unreliable design;
  • Difficulties may arise when installing it yourself.

Option made from polystyrene foam blocks

This option is very similar in both installation and properties to brick structures. But polystyrene foam blocks have lower thermal conductivity, and therefore the water will retain heat much longer.

Advantages of polystyrene foam for the construction of bowls:

  • Rigid and durable construction;
  • Most of the heat from water is lost through the surface. Loss can be significantly reduced by using a special pool cover film;
  • Installation of various additional equipment;
  • There are no restrictions in choosing the shape and depth of the bowl.

Disadvantages of pools made of polystyrene foam blocks:

  • Long installation times;
  • Not the most economical option;
  • This cannot be done without the use of special equipment.

Swimming pool with plastic bowl

Tanks with a plastic bowl are lightweight and short-term options for pool installation. Plastic bowls also include frame structures that are assembled from sheets. But here we will list the distinctive features of the monolithic options.

Advantages of plastic monolithic bowls:

  • Resistant to chemicals and ultraviolet radiation;
  • Monolithic structures are quite rigid and durable;
  • Long service life;
  • Simple and quick installation of the bowl;
  • Quite an economical option.

Disadvantages of plastic bowls:

  • Your choice of shape and depth is limited to what manufacturers offer;
  • Ordering a custom plastic bowl will not be cheap;
  • Sometimes it is difficult to install additional equipment.

Concrete tank

Concrete tanks are used quite widely. They have increased strength, so they are the best choice for special occasions. But concrete is also not without its drawbacks.

Advantages of concrete for an artificial reservoir:

  • Concrete buildings, when properly designed, last a long time;
  • Freedom in choosing shape, depth and additional equipment;
  • Rigid construction.

Disadvantages of concrete bowls:

  • Long installation time;
  • You cannot do without additional equipment;
  • High price.

The most common types of structures in Russia

For Russian residents, the most important factors are cost and frost resistance. Moreover, cost often has the highest priority.

Therefore, the most popular designs in Russia are those using monolithic plastic bowls and frost-resistant frames. The remaining options are used under non-standard conditions or the wishes of the owner himself.

What are the most profitable options?

If you plan to operate on a strictly limited budget, then small-volume frame structures that need to be assembled before winter are best suited for low-budget construction.

It will be even cheaper to purchase a rubber inflatable pool. But such pools are often small in volume and are unlikely to please a group of adults. Therefore, it is better to save up for a frame structure.

Now you know what types of swimming pools there are and how they differ from each other. You may have already identified your priority options. In this case, all that remains is to delve into the topic, make the final choice and begin to realize your dream.
