Righteous women (3). Beautiful and meaningful names in Islam Brothers vs. Yusuf

Who is the prophet Yakub in Islam? Yakub, or Israel, is one of the chosen ones of Allah, intended by him to convey to people his revelations and Scriptures. He was the son of Ishak and the grandson, therefore he is also called the prophet Ibrahim Ishak Yakub. There were about a thousand prophets in their family.

In the Koran, he is characterized as the owner of knowledge, a good chosen one, strong and insightful. His life was full of trials, which he withstood with honor. The history of the prophet Yakub will be discussed in this article.

Dispute in the womb

When Yakub's father, Ishak, grew up, he received a prophecy from the Almighty and was sent to the Sham tribe, where he married Rabikat. She bore him two twin sons - Ais and Yakub. According to some sources, Yakub was born in Syria, according to others - in Palestine.

Rabikat heard that in her womb the sons communicate with each other. At the same time, Ice threatened that he would cut open his mother's stomach if Yakub was born first, and then kill him himself. Yakub suggested that his brother come out into the world earlier than he did. And so it happened. Thus, disputes about superiority between the brothers began even before their birth, and Yakub managed to resolve the first of them, losing to Ais.

Love divided

The love of the parents was divided between the two twins. Mother's heart lay more to Yakub, father's to Ais. Ishaq was aging and his eyesight was deteriorating, so he was unable to distinguish between his children. When the forces began to leave him, he called Ais to himself to ask the Almighty for a barakat (blessing) for him. Ishaq ordered that a ram be brought to him for sacrifice.

Rabikat heard this conversation and wanted the barakat from the dua (prayer) to be transmitted not to Ais, but to Yakub. Mother told Yakub to come with the slaughtered ram before Ice. He did just that. Father took doubts, and he asked Yakub: “Who are you?”. Rabikat confirmed that it was Ice and called on her husband to pray for him.

Mother's cunning

In order for the father to accept one son for another, the mother, having shown cunning, dressed Yakub in clothes made of skins, since Ais had a hairy body. Running his hand over Yakub's body and feeling his hair, his father said nothing. But at the same time, he thought that the body seemed to belong to Ais, while his smell belonged to Yakub, and decided that in this matter one should trust Allah.

Taking his son by the hand, he offered a sincere prayer to Allah that he, by his mercy, make his descendants prophets, messengers and kings. When Ais appeared before his father again, Ishak informed him that he had conveyed the dua to the prophet Yakub. Ice flew into a rage, promising that he would kill his brother. The father began to calm his pet, saying that a dua was also prepared for him, and called him closer. He asked the Almighty for Ais a lot of children from whom the rulers would come, which happened later.

Yakub-Israil

After that, Ice again became angry with Yakub, and Rabikat, afraid that he would kill her pet, gave the latter advice to move to Najran. Together with his uncle, after Yakub went there and stayed with his mother's relatives.

Heading to Najran, Yakub traveled only at night, and during the day he was forced to hide. It is believed that he was the first night traveler. Such night walking is called "isra", therefore the second name of Yakub is Israel. From this name came the name of the Jews, his descendants, indicated in the Koran - the children of Israel (Israelis).

Birth of children

For 40 years, Yakub was in the service of relatives. Here he got married. Prophet Yakub had two wives - Laila and Rachel. They were both daughters of his uncle. He also had two concubines - Balkhu and Zulfa.

All of them bore him children - one daughter and sons. How many sons did Prophet Yakub have? There were twelve of them in all, from which came the twelve tribes of Israel and many prophets. After the Almighty chose Yakub as his prophet, he, taking his family with him, left for Kenan, or Canaan, and settled there. He urged local residents to believe in Allah, to take the path of true faith.

Reconciliation with brother

Before leaving, Yakub sent his sons to visit Aisa, greet him, find out how he was doing. Having met the sons of his brother, after listening to their story, Ice was very happy, forgetting his offense. Yakub himself followed the children, and the relationship of the brothers in its clarity became like a sunny day.

So in the love that the Almighty instilled in their hearts, they lived for many years. After that, Ice settled in Sham, and Canaan left Yakub. Ice married his cousin, who bore him many children.

Prophet Yakub and Yusuf

Of all the children of Yakub, Yusuf was the most beloved. When Yusuf was 7 years old, he had a dream that he told his father. In a dream, the sun, moon and eleven stars came to bow to him. Yakub, possessing the gift of interpreting dreams given to him by Allah, predicted to his son that he would become a prophet and receive many blessings. At the same time, he warned the boy not to tell his brothers about this, as they could harm him out of a sense of envy.

Yakub's love for Yusuf was not just a blind feeling. She was the result of the manifestation of such qualities of the boy as reverence, respect, wisdom. Yusuf's vision made the father's affection for his son even greater. In him, Yakub saw the makings of exclusivity and a prophetic gift. The brothers also noticed this, which eventually made them think. They constantly consulted among themselves, and in the end they conceived evil.

Brothers vs. Yusuf

The other sons of the prophet Yakub, jealous of Yusuf, decided to kill him. They hoped that this would help them to fully capture their father's love and after that become righteous. As a result, Yusuf was thrown into a well by his brothers. Before that, the brothers convinced their father, who expected something bad from them, to let Yusuf go with them.

They took him out of the city and carried out their sentence there. Then they stained their brother's shirt with the blood of animals and, crying, presented it to their father, saying that Yusuf had been bullied by a wolf. However, Yakub saw that the shirt was not torn, which means that the wolf had nothing to do with it, and his beloved son was alive. For many years he waited for the return of Yusuf, constantly shedding tears. From this, his eyesight first deteriorated, and then blindness set in.

Selling into slavery

After the brothers threw Yusuf into the well, he sat in it all alone in the darkness of the night, frightened by the cries of wild animals. This well was located on the caravan route connecting Palestine and Syria. When a caravan appeared on the way, one of the servants went for water, he found the unfortunate Yusuf.

Heading to Egypt, the owners of the caravan decided to take the boy with them, and when they arrived, they sold him as a cheap commodity. Thus, a child who came from a highly respected family became a slave through the fault of his siblings. It is clear that he had fear and bitterness in his heart. Then an amazing fate awaited him.

Yusuf was sold to one of the most noble people in Egypt - the second after the king - and grew up in his house. Thus, the boy was able to closely get acquainted with the culture and customs of the people of Egypt. The nobleman's wife could not have children, and took Yusuf to her. When the young man matured, he became very handsome.

Imprisonment

His beautiful appearance began to attract the attention of noble women and, first of all, the wife of his master, and she began to seduce Yusuf. Although Yusuf lived in the house of the pharaoh's manager, he was still in a slave position, and the nobleman's wife began to blackmail him, threatening false accusations and imprisonment.

When he refused to share a bed with her, she slandered the guy, and he was thrown into prison. The prison was located not far from the ruler's house, and, having moved into it, he, after luxurious palace interiors, ended up in a pit at great depths. His life has changed radically, and a new stage has begun in it. While in prison, Yusuf began to preach faith in the One God, as well as interpret dreams.

Pharaoh's dream

Once the pharaoh had a dream in which seven thin cows ate seven fat ones, and there were also seven green ears and seven dried ones. The ruler was very excited by what he saw in the dream. The interpreters, wanting to reassure the ruler, tried to convince him that his vision was just confusion, an incoherent dream and nothing more. Therefore, you do not need to attach importance to it and just forget it.

Yusuf heard the story of the pharaoh's dream and explained it in the following way, saying to the ruler: “For seven years you will constantly sow. And what you reap, you need to leave in the ears, with a small exception - a small amount that will go to food. After that, seven difficult years will come, which will consume what will be prepared for them, besides the small amount that will be saved. After this, a year will come, during which there will be abundant rains, and all the fruits will be squeezed out by people.

Having heard about this interpretation, the pharaoh called Yusuf to him. But before leaving prison, the prophet Yusuf urged the ruler to ask the women about the reason for which he was thrown into prison. Then the nobleman's wife admitted that she seduced the young man, offering him to choose either a close relationship with her or prison. Being a righteous man, Yusuf chose the latter. Thus, the innocence of the prophet was confirmed.

Meeting with brothers

After leaving prison, Yusuf became a noble man and used all his abilities to preach the true faith. Pharaoh believed Yusuf's prediction, and did as he advised. At the same time, the pharaoh instructed him to manage all the warehouses of Egypt, and he set about implementing the advice given by him. Life in Egypt improved, the people were saved from starvation.

Unlike Palestine, where Yusuf's father and brothers lived, and where the famine began. Then Yakub decided to send his sons to Egypt to buy grain. All the brothers of Yusuf, except for the younger Benjamin, arrived in Egypt, being driven by a fierce need. Yusuf recognized them, but did not show them. He provided them with food and ordered them to bring Benjamin to him in order to give him his share in person.

Death of Yakub

When Yusuf revealed himself to his brothers and they recognized him, they regretted what had happened and repented. After that, a messenger was sent to their father to bring him and Benjamin to Egypt to Yusuf. At the same time, having learned that his father was blind from the tears that he shed over his son, Yusuf handed him a shirt so that he would throw it over his face and restore his sight.

When all the relatives gathered around Yusuf, they bowed deeply to him as a sign of great respect. Earlier, Yusuf had a vision that the whole family would be reunited in the land of Egypt. Soon the prophet Yakub died, bequeathing to his sons to bury him next to his father Ishak. His will was fulfilled by his beloved son.

He brought the body of Yakub to Palestine, where the prophet was buried in the cave of El-Khalil. Nearby is the grave of his wife Rachel, who bore him Yusuf. Subsequently, he was buried here and the oral tradition about the prophet Yakub, his life and death, the life and death of Yusuf corresponds to the story set out in the Koran.

Mission Yakub

Before his death, Yakub, having gathered all his sons, asked them: “What will you worship after my departure?” And they answered him: "We will worship the God whom you and your fathers worshiped - Ibrahim, Ismail, Ishak - the One God." Yakub bequeathed to his sons to keep the prophetic mission, to be submissive and to comprehend the science of Tawhid.

Tawheed is worship only to Allah, with the conviction of the mind and heart of his uniqueness, essence, his inherent actions and attributes, that everything happens according to his will. The science of Tawhid is also called Kalam, it studies everything related to the Almighty, indicating that a believer must have the right conviction, otherwise all his deeds will be in vain.

It was the comprehension of Tawhid and following it that was the mission of the messengers whom Allah sent in order to save people from delusion and humiliation, to direct them to faith and the true path. Such was the mission of both the prophet Yakub and his son Yusuf. From the twelve sons came the twelve tribes of Israel and many prophets, such as: Musa, Suleiman, Isa, Davud. The Islamic prophet Yakub is identified with the biblical prophet Jacob.

Yakub had twelve sons, the youngest of them were Yusuf and Benjamin.

Yakub loved Yusuf more than his brothers. He showed this love, and the rest of the brothers were jealous. One night, Yusuf fell asleep in his bed and had a wonderful dream.

Waking up, he went to his father and said to him:

"O my father, I saw eleven stars in a dream, and the Sun and the Moon, and I saw that they worshiped me."

Thinking about the meaning of Yusuf's dream, Yakub decided that Allah would make Yusuf great in this and the other worlds. Yakub knew that Yusuf's brothers were jealous of him, and was afraid of any of their actions in a fit of jealousy and at the instigation of Shaitan, which could harm Yusuf. So he told him:

“O my beloved son, do not tell your brothers about your dream, lest they plot against you; for Shaitan is a clear enemy to man.”

Yakub was silent for a while, then said to Yusuf:

Allah showed you this great vision. If you keep silent about it, then Allah will send down his mercy on you and teach you the interpretation of dreams. He will fulfill His mercy to you, and thus the family of Yakub will receive a lot of good.

Allah will make you great and give you the gift of prophecy, as He did for your two forefathers - Ibrahim and Ishaq.

Yakub continued to speak to Yusuf, who listened attentively and thought about this amazing dream.

Yakub hugged and played with Yusuf and his brother Benjamin, and the rest of the brothers saw how he, busy with two, did not pay attention to the others. Anger crept into their souls, because all the father's love was given to Yusuf and Benjamin.

Our father loves Yusuf and his brother more than us.

There are many of us, and we are more worthy of our father's favor than Yusuf and his brother.

The third one said:

Our father is seriously mistaken.

Kill Yusuf or drive him to a place where he will never return. All father's love will remain to us. Then we will repent for our actions and become righteous.

Let's kill him and get rid of it. The brothers had almost agreed to kill Yusuf, when suddenly one of them said:

Do not kill Yusuf, but if you think it necessary to do something, throw him to the bottom of a deep well: someone passing by will pick him up.

One exclaimed:

It's a good idea.

The brothers agreed to throw Yusuf to the bottom of the well in order to end him and regain their father's love.

The children went to their father, who at that time was hugging and playing with Yusuf. One of them said to his father:

Father, why don't you let Yusuf go and play with us?

Yakub said:

I can't leave him for an hour.

Another asked:

Send him tomorrow to play with us and have fun.

The father told them:

I am sad that you will take him away.

Let him play and rejoice, otherwise he constantly sits at home.

I'm afraid you will play too much and leave him unattended, and the wolf may bite him.

Someone asked:

How can a wolf bite him if there are a lot of us?!

The brothers surrounded their father, vying to persuade him:

Don't be afraid for Yusuf. Let him play and have fun with us. Why don't you trust Yusuf to us, because we love him?! And he wants to come with us. They begged their father until he agreed to let Yusuf go with them. Joyful, the brothers left their father. Yusuf went out with his brothers. Before they had time to hide from their father's eyes, everyone began to scold Yusuf and mock him. Finally, they went to the well, tore off Yusuf's shirt, threw him into the well and left.

Finding himself in the well, Yusuf was frightened, but the fear did not last long, since Allah took him away. He also told him that, undoubtedly, there is a way out of this difficult situation, that Yusuf will be saved and will live respected by all.

The brothers paused to consider what they would say to their father. They agreed that they would say that the wolf had eaten him. To convince their father that they were telling the truth, the brothers took Yusuf's shirt and stained it with the blood of a goat they had slaughtered.

The children waited for sunset and nightfall. Then, weeping, they came to their father. When Yakub saw them without Yusuf, he cringed in despair and sadly asked:

Where is Yusuf?

They said:

O our father, we began to run races with each other and left Yusuf with our things, and the wolf ate him.

Yakub angrily threw:

We knew you would never believe us. But here is his shirt.

And they gave their father a shirt stained with blood. But her father found no teeth marks on her. The brothers forgot to rip off the shirt. The father realized that they had done something to their brother. And no wolf attacked him. Yakub was very sad because of Yusuf. However, he remained firm in his sadness and said to the children:

You did something to your brother. Wait and see.

The caravan from al-Sham was heading to Egypt. His path lay through the well where Yusuf was thrown. One of the caravaners went to the well to draw water. As he lowered the bucket, Yusuf clung to it. Seeing him, the caravaneer joyfully exclaimed: This is a good sign! This is a boy! He took it and returned to his caravan.

The merchants continued their journey until they arrived in Egypt. The caravaneer with Yusuf came to the slave market to sell him and get money. At that time, there was an Egyptian nobleman in the market, who liked Yusuf very much, and he bought him for a small sum.

The grandee with Yusuf returned home. When his wife saw the young man, she was overjoyed because she was childless. The nobleman said to her:

Be good to him. Perhaps we will be of use to him when he grows up. If he is a kind and smart boy, we will adopt him.

Surrounded by care and attention, Yusuf remained in the nobleman's house.

Years passed, Yusuf grew up and matured, becoming very handsome.

The wife of the nobleman drew attention to the beauty and strength of Yusuf and fell in love with him. One day she put on her best clothes, decorated herself and went out to Yusuf.

Closing the doors behind her, she approached him, wanting to show him her love, and said:

I am yours and I belong to you.

Yusuf saw her beauty, but remembered his Lord, who saved him from the well.

Turning away, he said:

I seek refuge with Allah. Your husband is my master. He respects me and treats me well. I don't want to harm him. I will not rebel against my Lord who saved me.

Yusuf went to the door to open it and go out. She rushed after him, trying to hold him. Grabbing his shirt, she tore it from behind. Yusuf opened the door and saw a nobleman in front of him. When the wife noticed her husband standing on the threshold, she wanted to accuse Yusuf of trying to encroach on her. She told her husband:

Yusuf tried to harm your wife. He deserves a dungeon or severe punishment.

Defending himself, Yusuf said:

It was she who tried to seduce me.

The nobleman was angry, but then a relative of his wife came. When the nobleman told him everything, he said:

If his shirt is torn in front, then she is telling the truth, and if in the back, then he is telling the truth, and she is lying ...

The grandee saw that Yusuf's shirt was torn at the back and, looking angrily at his wife, said to her:

Verily, this is your feminine cunning. Verily, your cunning is great.

Turning to Yusuf, he said to him:

Don't tell anyone what happened here. And the nobleman ordered his wife to ask forgiveness for her sin and repent.

The wives and daughters of noble people gathered and, discussing the nobleman's wife, condemned her for her love for Yusuf. They said:

Aziz's wife offers herself to Yusuf. Truly, she is a bad woman.

Aziz's wife found out about this woman's condemnation for her love for the young man and became angry. She decided to justify herself to them and invited them all to her house. She treated all the guests with apples and gave each a knife. Then she dressed Yusuf in the best clothes and ordered him to come out to them. When the women saw a handsome young man in front of them, they could not believe their eyes, deciding that this was the most beautiful man in the world. Forgetting themselves, they looked at him dumbfounded, and instead of peeling the apples, they cut their hands with knives. At the same time, they did not even feel pain and said:

May Allah be glorified! This is not a man, but a glorious angel.

Aziz's wife said to them:

This is the one you judged me for. I demanded it for myself, but he refrained. And now, if he does not do what I order him, then he will be thrown into prison.

The women asked him: - Why don't you obey your mistress?

He replied:

O my Lord, I prefer prison to what they offer me.

Yusuf refused to obey the orders of his mistress because he was afraid of Allah.

Yusuf did not obey the wife of Aziz, because he did not want to betray his master, who raised him. Then the wife of Aziz started an intrigue against Yusuf in front of her husband. She told him: “Women on every corner speak evil of me and Yusuf and say nasty things. It would be better to throw him in prison so that everyone knows that it was Yusuf who wanted to encroach on my honor and therefore ended up in prison.

Yusuf and two other youths were thrown into prison, where they met and became friends.

One night, both young men saw incomprehensible dreams.

In the morning, both of them asked Yusuf to interpret their visions for them.

One of them said:

I dreamed that I was squeezing grapes and making wine out of them, and then treating the king.

Another said:

I saw in a dream that I was carrying bread on my head, which was pecked by birds. Interpret these dreams to us, for we see that you are righteous.

Yusuf said to them:

Whatever dreams you have, I will explain to you what will happen before it happens. Everything will be as I say. Allah taught me this, because I believe in Him, the One. And I follow the faith of my fathers Ibrahim, Ishak and Yakub. Verily, we cannot associate anything as equal to Allah.

O my two companions in prison, which is better - different gods who are not capable of anything, or Allah, the One, the Great, the Almighty? The gods you worship are false. Allah commanded us to worship Him because He created us and gave us food. But most people don't know.

O my two companions in prison, as for one of you, he will pour wine for his master; as for the other, he will be crucified, and the birds will peck at his head.

Yusuf knew that the butler of the king would be saved from prison. He told him:

Mention my business to your master. I am in prison without any fault on my part.

The royal cupbearer was released from prison, and the other was crucified, as Yusuf foretold. But the butler forgot to remind the king of Yusuf's case, and he spent several more years in prison.

One night the king saw in a dream that he was sitting on the bank of a river from which seven fat cows came out, and then seven skinny ones. Then the seven skinny cows ate the seven fat ones. The king woke up in horror. Having calmed down, he fell asleep again and saw in a dream seven green ears of corn, which were swallowed up by seven dry ears. In fear, the king awoke a second time.

In the morning, the king gathered his entourage and told them what he saw in a dream. None of his retinue could explain to him the meaning of these dreams. Then the cup-bearer remembered that Yusuf perfectly explains dreams. He said to the king:

Send me to Yusuf in prison, and I will interpret these dreams for you.

The king sent him to Yusuf. Arriving at the prison, he said:

"Yusuf! O you righteous one, explain to us the meaning of the seven fat cows that were devoured by the seven skinny cows, and the seven green ears of grain and seven other dried ones, so that I can return to the people and tell them.

Yusuf said to him:

There are seven good years ahead, and then seven bad harvests will come. You will have to work hard and unceasingly for seven years. Leave everything harvested in the ears, except for the wheat that you eat. When the bad years come, you will eat what you saved in the good years.

Then a harvest year will come after this, when people will crush grapes, sugar cane, sesame. They will prosper and rejoice.

The cupbearer returned to the king and told him everything that Yusuf had told. The king was amazed and sent him back to fetch Yusuf. The king wanted to make him his close associate. However, Yusuf agreed to go to the king only if he confirmed to him that he had been imprisoned by slander. Yusuf said to the butler:

Go back to the king and tell him to gather the women who cut their hands and ask them what really happened. Let the king know that I am innocent of what is attributed to me.

The king ordered the women to be gathered and asked them about Yusuf. They told him:

This is a noble person. He didn't do anything wrong.

Aziz's wife saw that the truth was clear and said:

I demanded it for myself, but he refused. Yusuf is innocent and thrown into prison unjustly.

When the king learned this, he realized that Yusuf was a smart and reliable person. He wanted to use his knowledge and have a faithful person with him. The king said, "Bring him to me."

When Yusuf was brought in and the king talked to him, he was convinced that he was indeed an intelligent, loyal and reliable person. The king said to him:

From now on, you are a respected and revered person.

Yusuf said to the king:

Good times await the country, and then hard times. Therefore, put me over the treasures of the country, as I securely store what is at my disposal, spend money wisely, and save the rest for difficult years.

Yusuf became a minister to the king, having everything at his disposal.

Prosperous years have passed, and hard times have come. Yusuf began to distribute among the people the grain saved from past rich harvests. The country experienced lean years, and people from neighboring countries came to Egypt for the goods they needed.

One day Yusuf was visited by his brothers. He recognized them, but they did not recognize him. They could not imagine that Yusuf would become a minister.

Yusuf asked:

How many of you?

They answered him:

We are twelve. One is missing, and the youngest stayed with his father.

Yusuf received them as honored guests and treated them generously.

Then he said:

Go and bring your brother to me with you, and then I will give you what you asked for. If you don't bring him, you won't get anything.

The brothers said:

We will try to bring it with us. They went to prepare for their departure, and Yusuf ordered his servants to return to the brothers all their goods, which they had brought, in order to exchange them for grain.

The brothers returned to their father and, meeting with him, said:

If you don't send our brother with us, they won't give us anything.

The father told them:

I can't trust anyone with it. I'm afraid you will do to him what you did to Yusuf.

The brothers said to him:

O our father, we speak the truth. Here are our items that we took with us for exchange. But the minister returned them to us and did not accept them.

Father said:

I will only let him go with you if you swear to protect him.

The brothers swore to take care of their brother and began to prepare for a trip to Egypt to bring grain from there.

The father told them:

Do not enter the city through one gate, but through different ones.

He told them this to protect them from the evil that might overtake them all together at once.

The brothers arrived safely to Yusuf. Yusuf and Benjamin stepped aside, and Yusuf said to him:

I am your brother Yusuf, but don't say that to your brothers.

Benjamin was very happy to meet his brother. Yusuf wanted to take Benjamin from them and said to the servants:

Place the cup from which the king drinks in Benjamin's belongings.

The servants did it.

Yusuf's brothers gathered their luggage and loaded it onto their camels. Then the caravan set off.

Then one of the guards shouted:

You are guilty of stealing!

Everyone turned to him and asked:

What did you miss?

You have stolen the cup from which the king drinks!

Search us. We didn't come here to steal.

The guard asked:

And what will be the punishment for the one with whom this thing is found?

The brothers replied:

The punishment will be such that he will remain your prisoner.

Yusuf came and examined everyone's luggage, except for his brother's things. He examined them last and found the royal bowl. As punishment for this, he took his brother as a prisoner.

The rest of the brothers said:

If he stole, then before that his brother was also guilty of theft.

Yusuf understood what they meant, but could not answer for fear that his cunning would be discovered. He just thought to himself, “You are in a worse position; and Allah knows best what you refer to. The brothers remembered that they swore to their father to protect one of them and turned to Yusuf:

O great lord! He has an aged father, therefore take one of us instead of him, for we see that you are one of those who do good.

He replied:

Save Allah us to take someone other than the one from whom we found belonging to us, otherwise we would be unjust.

When the attempt to take the brother was unsuccessful, the brothers went to consult, and the eldest of them said:

We swore to protect it! I cannot return to my father without Benjamin.

What to do?

I will stay here until I rescue my brother, or until my father allows me to return.

And what should we do?

Go back to your father and say: "O our father, your son has stolen."

They returned to their father, and when he asked about Benjamin, they told him what had happened.

However, the father did not believe them:

My son doesn't steal!

Then ask the people who were with us. They all know well.

To this the father said:

You did to him what you did to Yusuf. Perhaps Allah will bring them all to me. Saddened for the fate of Benjamin, Yakub again became sad about Yusuf. He sobbed so much that he went blind. The children saw how great the grief of the father was and said to him:

You will remember Yusuf and mourn him until you grow old or die. You better not cry.

Yakub told them:

I'm not complaining to you, or to anyone else from the people. I complain to Allah. I know that Allah will have mercy on me and save me from grief. O my beloved son! Go and look for Yusuf and his brother. And do not grieve in the mercy of Allah, for no one despairs in the mercy of Allah, except for the disbelievers.

Yusuf's brothers returned to Egypt, asking the master to be generous and forgive their brother. When they came to him, they said:

O great sir, we are in a very difficult position, and we have only bad goods. Give us something and show your generosity by freeing our brother.

Yusuf said to them:

Do you know what you did to Yusuf and his brother?

The brothers looked at him intently, and then said:

Are you Yusuf?

Yes, I am Yusuf, and this is my brother. Indeed, Allah has been merciful to us.

The brothers said:

Indeed, Allah preferred you over us. Forgive us for what we have done to you, our brother.

Do not be afraid, - Yusuf answered, - I am not going to punish you for what happened. May Allah forgive you! He is the Most Merciful of all who show mercy.

Then Yusuf asked them about their father. They said:

From continuous mourning for you, he became blind. Then Yusuf took off his shirt and gave it to the brother who told the others not to kill Yusuf, but to throw him into the well. He told him: “Go with my shirt and put it in front of your father; he will know. And bring all your family to me, that they may live here in Egypt in great abundance.” Yakub stood waiting for the return of his sons. As they approached, he took a deep breath and said to those around him:

Verily, I smell Yusuf.

The people looked at each other and said:

You are falling into the same delusion. Yusuf died and was devoured by a wolf many years ago.

Approaching, the sons of Yakub put Yusuf's shirt in front of him, and Yakub became enlightened. He told the children:

What did I tell you? I knew that Allah would bring everyone together with Yusuf.

They said:

O our father, pray to Allah to forgive us.

Jacob replied:

I will pray to my Lord for forgiveness for you. Verily, He is Forgiving, Merciful. Yakub gathered his family and went to Egypt. Even before arriving there, Yusuf met everyone on the way. He respectfully greeted his father, and they all entered Egypt together. Then Yusuf said:

Enter Egypt in peace, if Allah wills. Yusuf ascended the throne, and his father, mother and brothers bowed before him with reverence. Yusuf said to his father: “O my father, now my former dream has been fulfilled. My Lord made it happen. He made me a ruler and brought me out of the dungeon. He brought you out of the desert after Shaitan sowed enmity between me and my brothers. If my Lord wants anything, He knows the way to bring it about.”

"- Oh, my Allah! You made me a sultan in Egypt, taught me the interpretation of dreams ..."

Allah Almighty declared:

- Oh, Yakub! Return to your homeland! You are destined to die there. Build your father's grave.

Having received such a command, the prophet Yakub left Egypt. In Jerusalem, he visited the graves of Ibrahim and Ishak. At that time, Venerable Yakub was one hundred and sixty years old. There are those who claim that he was one hundred and forty-five years old.

Arriving at the grave of the pious Ibrahim, the prophet Yakub noticed angels hovering over the cemetery. Yakubu (peace be upon him) saw one tomb, inside of which there were many different mattresses and featherbeds.

- Oh, angels! Whose tomb is this?- he asked.

- This is the tomb of the children of the prophet Ibrahim, the angels answered.

Venerable Yakub wanted to enter the tomb and greet those who rest in it. But the angels said to him:

- Don't come in.

Why can't you enter? asked Yakub.

The angels said:

“First drink the wine of separation, only then can you enter.

So the prophet Yakub drank the sherbet of parting and met his death. The angels washed his body and wrapped it in a shroud, and then performed a prayer for the dead and buried him next to the prophet Ishak.

After that, the brothers of the prophet Yusuf came to him and told him the sad news. Prophet Yusuf wept, then said:

- Oh, my Allah! You made me a sultan in Egypt, taught me the interpretation of dreams. I have no one but You. Ya Rabbi! Take my life too. Make me one of Your righteous servants.

According to the narrations, the prophet Yusuf died in Egypt at the age of one hundred and forty-four years. Some said he was one hundred and twenty years old.

The Egyptians put his body in a marble coffin and left it in the middle of the Nile, so that he would bring grace to the people on both banks of the river.

At the time of the Prophet Musa (peace be upon him), Allah Almighty commanded him:

- Pull out the coffin with the body of Yusuf from the Nile and bury him next to the venerable Yakub.

Prophet Musa sent out heralds with a request to come to those who know the location of the coffin with the body of Prophet Yusuf. One woman said:

- I know. And I will show you this place if you agree that I should be with you in Paradise.

The Venerable Musa agreed, and the woman said to him:

- The coffin with the body of Yusuf was thrown into the Nile from this place.

At the direction of the prophet Musa (peace be upon him), the coffin was pulled out of the water, and then brought to Jerusalem and buried there.

There are many stories related to Prophet Yusuf. Many of them are given in tafseers, because the stories about him are beautiful. Almighty Allah cites other narrations, mentioning in them other prophets, righteous people, interpreters of dreams, rulers, but only the narration about the prophet Yusuf calls "the most beautiful narration." The mufassirs explained this by the fact that the pious Yusuf, like no one else, went through many sufferings and torments, experienced love and hatred, loyalty and betrayal. As a slave, he became a sultan. Because of his beauty, he was thrown into prison. Thanks to spiritual beauty, he became a ruler.

Here we strive only to slightly reveal the divine mystery, to explain some of the signs of the Almighty.

From the book "Anvarul-ashikin"

Yakub (peace be upon him) (Jacob)- the son of Ishak (peace be upon him) and the grandson of Ibrahim (peace be upon him). He lived 147 years.

Yakub (peace be upon him) steadfastly endured the troubles and trials that fell to his lot. For many years he was separated from his most beloved son Yusuf (peace be upon him), but after a long separation they met and began to live in Egypt in prosperity and tranquility. Yakub (peace be upon him) is the ancestor of the sons of Israel. When he came to his son Yusuf (peace be upon him) in Egypt, 72 sons and grandsons were with him. His tribe grew until the appearance of the prophet Musa (peace be upon him). (When Musa (peace be upon him) left the persecution of the pharaoh, 600577 people from Banu Israel were with him).

24 years after Yakub (peace be upon him) regained his son, the angel Jibril (peace be upon him) came to him and said that it was time to leave this world. Yakub (peace be upon him) could not tell Yusuf (peace be upon him) so as not to upset him. He said to him: "O my son, I want to visit my ancestors in Bait al-Muqaddas (Jerusalem)." After that, Yakub (peace be upon him) went to Jerusalem and died there.

Yusuf (peace be upon him) (Joseph) was born when Yakub (peace be upon him) was in Sham. Jibril (peace be upon him) appeared to Yakub (peace be upon him) and said that Allah gave him such a son, who was given extraordinary beauty. He was very happy about this news. After returning, he slaughtered 1,000 sheep and distributed the meat to those in need as a token of gratitude to the Almighty.

Once Yusuf (peace be upon him) had a dream that eleven stars, the moon and the sun were bowing to him (sajda). He told his father about it. His brothers found out about this and said: “Without a doubt, Yusuf will become our master. The sun is the father, the moon is the mother, and the stars are us." They began to think about how to get rid of Yusuf (peace be upon him). After some time, they asked their father to let Yusuf (peace be upon him) hunt with them and threw him into the well. Then he was 14 years old. Out of pity for him, the angels in heaven wept. Then Jibril (peace be upon him) laid him on a stone in a well, which Allah raised above the water. Upon returning home, the brothers slaughtered a ram, stained Yusuf's shirt with blood and told his father that a wolf had killed him. After that, Yakub (peace be upon him) retired, cried a lot and, in the end, lost his sight.

On the fourth day, a caravan en route to Egypt stopped near this well. When they took water from the well, Yusuf (peace be upon him) caught on the rope. On this day, the elder brother of Yusuf (peace be upon him) came with food for him. He told the caravaners that Yusuf was their runaway slave. Then the caravaners asked to sell it. He sold Yusuf (peace be upon him) for 17 dirhams.

The caravaners never ceased to marvel at its beauty. Arriving in Egypt, they dressed him in beautiful clothes and brought him to the market to sell. At that moment, they were noticed by the nobleman of the ruler of Egypt, Rayyan ibn Walid Aziz Kitfir, and bought it. Yusuf lived in his family in honor and respect for seven years.

Aziz's wife Zuleikha fell in love with Yusuf (peace be upon him) more and more every day. Once she demanded intimacy from him. Yusuf (peace be upon him) refused and turned his back on her to leave, but she grabbed him from behind and tore his clothes. At that moment, her husband came in, but, ahead of Yusuf (peace be upon him), she stated that he harassed her. Fearing that her husband would kill him, she secured a prison sentence for him. The court rulers decided to arrange a trial. Then, by the will of Allah, a seven-day-old baby who was there said that if the shirt is torn at the back, then it is not his fault.

Everyone was convinced that Yusuf (peace be upon him) was innocent, and the court acquitted him. But despite this, Yusuf (peace be upon him) was still thrown into prison. Court women began to spread rumors that the nobleman's wife had fallen in love with a slave. Zuleikha gathered them, gave each of them a lemon and a knife to peel the fruit. Then she asked Yusuf (peace be upon him) to come out to them. When the women saw a handsome young man in front of them, they could not believe their eyes and said that this is the most beautiful man in the world, this is not a man, but an angel. Forgetting everything, instead of peeling the fruits, they cut their hands. They didn't even feel pain. After this incident, they stopped discussing Zuleikha.

Together with Yusuf (peace be upon him), the cook and butler of the ruler of Egypt were imprisoned. Once the butler had a dream, about which he told Yusuf (peace be upon him). Then the cook, mocking Yusuf (peace be upon him), said that he also had a dream. Yusuf (peace be upon him), having interpreted the dreams, predicted to the first that he would be released from prison, and to the second that he would be crucified.

The cook was frightened and admitted that he had not seen any dream, but it was too late to make excuses. Everything happened as predicted by the prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him). In turn, he asked the cupbearer to intercede for him before the ruler when he was released from prison. However, he forgot about it.

Seven years later, the ruler Ryan had an amazing dream that no one could interpret. Then the butler remembered Yusuf (peace be upon him) and with the permission of the king went to him, told that the king had a dream, but he himself could not remember his dream. Yusuf (peace be upon him) told him about the dream of the ruler and gave him an interpretation. The butler informed the king about this, and he released Yusuf (peace be upon him). Yusuf (peace be upon him) said that the angel Jibril (peace be upon him) told him about the dream of the king. The interpretation of the dream was as follows: the next seven years will be fruitful, they will be replaced by seven years of crop failure and drought. The king asked advice from Yusuf (peace be upon him), and he said: “You will have to work hard and unceasingly for seven years. Keep all the harvest in ears, except for the wheat that you eat. When the lean years come, you will eat what you saved in the previous years. In the years of drought, grain will be bread for people, and ears of corn will be fodder for livestock.

The king made Yusuf (peace be upon him) a vizier and instructed him to deal with this matter. He did an excellent job, and after seven years people began to come to him for bread. The sons of Yakub (peace be upon him) also came - the brothers of Yusuf (peace be upon him). Then Yusuf (peace be upon him) revealed the secret to his own brother Benjamin. When the brothers of Yusuf (peace be upon him) gathered on their way back, at the command of Yusuf (peace be upon him), a measure of precious metal was left unnoticed in Benjamin's bag. When the vizier's servants discovered her, they had to leave their brother for a whole year with the king. That was the punishment. The brothers complained that they had an elderly father who loved Benjamin very much, and asked him to leave another brother instead. But the vizier did not agree, saying that an innocent person should not be kept. The brothers returned home and told everything to their father. The father (Yakub (peace be upon him)) wrote a letter in which he reported about himself and his noble ancestors - Ibrahim (peace be upon him), Ishak (peace be upon him), about the torment they endured, mourning Yusuf (peace be upon him). After reading this letter, Yusuf (peace be upon him) wept bitterly and showed it to his children - a letter from their grandfather.

Yusuf (peace be upon him) told the brothers that he would let Benjamin go and asked if they wanted anything else. They asked for wheat. Then he asked them what they did with Yusuf (peace be upon him), and then the brothers guessed that the vizier was their brother Yusuf (peace be upon him). They felt very ashamed, they began to ask for forgiveness. Then Yusuf (peace be upon him) asked them about his father. He gave them his shirt, saying, "Throw this shirt over his face and his sight will return."

After this incident, Yakub (peace be upon him) and his entire family moved to Egypt, where they lived in prosperity for 24 years. Yusuf (peace be upon him) after long trials became the ruler of Egypt. He was famous for his good looks and high morals. There are a lot of instructive lessons and examples in his life for all believers, that's why Allah dedicated a whole sura in the Qur'an to him.

After the death of Yakub (peace be upon him), Yusuf (peace be upon him) lived another 23 years and died at the age of 120 years. He was buried on the banks of the Nile River.

A brief account of each prophet mentioned in the Qur'an."Sharh-ul-mukhtasar".

Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) had eleven brothers. Ten of them were older and only one was younger. Little Yusuf was a very obedient and handsome boy, so his father, Prophet Yakub (aleihissalam) loved him very much. Unfortunately, this caused jealousy among the other eleven brothers, and therefore they wanted to get rid of Yusuf.

One day they found a deep well and threw Yusuf into it. Then they took his shirt, smeared it with lamb's blood, and showed it to their father. The brothers said, “Our little Yusuf is dead. The wolf attacked him and ate him."

After that, the prophet Yakub (alayhissalam) became mad with grief and mourned for a long time for his beloved son. Years passed, he grew old and blind. However, faith in Allah in his heart remained firm and unshakable. He constantly prayed to the Creator and did not part with the hope that Yusuf was still alive, and one day they would meet. The Prophet recited the dua: "Allahu mustaan wa sabrun jamil - all power belongs only to Allah, and patience is wonderful."

Yakub (alayhissalam) was sincerely sure that this was the case. He turned out to be right about everything. When Yusuf discovered that he was in a deep well, he began to pray to Allah. A merchant caravan passed by. They found the boy, took him from the depths of the well and took him with them to Egypt, where they sold him in the slave market to a childless couple.

Sometimes it happens that a person is unjustly accused of a crime that he did not commit. This is what happened to the grown-up Yusuf (alayhissalam): he was put in jail, although he did nothing wrong. Only Allah knows better what is good for His servants, and helps those who believe in Him.

A few years later, while Yusuf (peace be upon him) was still in prison, the pharaoh of Egypt had a dream that greatly disturbed him. “I dreamed of seven fat cows eaten by skinny ones, and seven green and seven dry fields of corn,” he told his courtiers. However, no one could interpret this dream.

Pharaoh learned that Yusuf (aleihissalam) locked up in prison could interpret the dream and ordered to send for him. He appeared before the ruler of Egypt and said: “Your dream means that the country will have seven good years with a wonderful harvest, but the next seven years will be bad and hungry. Therefore, you need to collect and save as much grain as you can.

The pharaoh was grateful to Yusuf (alayhissalam) and realized that he was a reasonable person. He asked him to help in the fight against hunger and appointed him treasurer, as well as inspector of the storehouses of Egypt.

When the famine spread throughout the country, it also affected the fellow countrymen of Yusuf (alayhissalam). At this time, his brothers came to Egypt to buy grain from the abundant supply that the Egyptians were ordered to keep. Allah planned to make it so that young people should definitely come to Yusuf (alayhissala).

At first they did not recognize him, as they thought that their brother had died long ago. Then they realized who was standing before them, and felt terrible shame for what they had done. The young people begged Yusuf (alayhissalam) for forgiveness, and he had mercy on them. He asked the brothers to bring their father to him.

When they took the old man to Egypt, the blind man was beside himself with happiness. He always believed that Yusuf (alayhissalam) remained alive and never stopped praying to Allah. Father and son embraced after a long separation. It was a great reunion!

Subsequently, Yusuf's father and brothers (alayhissalam) remained in Egypt. They began to live as a large friendly family, and they had many children. Prophet Yusuf (aleihissalam) was a good, noble man and the messenger of Allah, and therefore he always called for worshiping only the One Creator: “Allah created you and protected you from hunger. You should be grateful to Him and do good deeds.”
