Sizes and types of facing bricks: single, one and a half and others

Facing single brick is a material that has taken a leading position in the field of construction. It can be used when finishing facades and other external elements of houses. The product in question is characterized by a standard size of 250x120x65 mm, although you can find dimensions with smaller widths - 85 mm. Before you decide on the best facing stone, you need to carefully study all its advantages, disadvantages, as well as the method of production.

Facing single stone can be of the following types:

  • ceramic;
  • hyperpressed;
  • clinker.

There is a classification for ceramic products:

  • A - light, seven-slotted;
  • B - nine-slit light;
  • B - ordinary, obtained during semi-dry pressing;
  • G - a product of light seven-slotted;
  • D - light nine-slit stone;
  • E - red seven-slit.

The ceramic type of facing product is in great demand today. This is a classic version, for which clay is used and its further firing. However, today the production technology does not stand still, but is actively developing, thanks to which it is possible to obtain material of the most interesting and diverse colors. Colored products can be dyed volumetrically or superficially.

To get volumetric staining, experts use red-burning clay. Thanks to her, it is possible to give the product a red color. To obtain a product of white, yellow and peach hue, white clay is used. That's how it turns out. For the manufacture of a finishing stone of a different shade, it is necessary to introduce coloring pigments into it during the mixing of raw materials. If we are talking about surface staining, then the processing of finished products is provided here, after which the resulting product is coated with metal polymers.

In addition to Russian-made ceramic bricks, Korean face bricks have been actively used today. The raw material used here is refractory shale clay, which is mined in the quarries of South Korea. The composition of the raw material does not contain chalk and salt, so it clay has high plasticity. The material mined in Korea is considered very high quality and reliable.

To obtain a hyper-pressed facing brick, shell rock or finely ground limestone is used. For coupling, a 12% solution of Portland cement and water is used. To give the finished product the desired shade, dyes are added to the composition of the raw mass. The manufacturing process is carried out using the high-pressure hyperpressure method.

Clinker facing bricks are made on the basis of a special grade of plastic clay. First, it is pressed, and then sent to a furnace for subsequent annealing at high temperatures. Immediately at the time of firing, the product acquires a different color, but this does not exclude the addition of dyes. In this case, natural pigments are used.

If you decide to finish your house with facing bricks, then this is an excellent solution, because ceramics boasts a large number of positive properties.

The main advantages include:

In order to avoid freezing of water on the facade in winter, the brick should be covered with water repellents. But you do not need to opt for those who form a vapor-tight film on their surface.

The reason is that when the temperature drops, the film blocks the exit of steam, as a result of which condensate in liquid form begins to form under it. If the temperature is below zero, then the liquid will freeze, expand and destroy the cladding. Thus, based on all the advantages, the only negative can be distinguished, but it is possible to prevent it if you purchase the right water repellent agent.

Dimensions and price

When choosing a facing single brick, many questions arise, one of which is the correct selection of sizes. Which ? The standard dimensions of such a stone are 150x120x65 mm. Such a product belongs to the universal, because it is allowed to use it for decorating facades or laying the main walls.

The next size is 250x60x65 mm, it refers to the dimensions of a narrow product. Its cost is much lower, and you can use it for decoration. For a thin brick, the following dimensions are characteristic: 150x22x65 mm. In appearance, this material resembles a tile. When choosing the stone in question, it must be remembered that it is advisable to use a thin brick when finishing a perfectly flat surface. Finishing with thin bricks is very similar to brick coverings of other sizes, but for processing the corner of a house, it is best to use standard or narrow products. Otherwise, the thickness of the other stone will be very visible at the ends. Knowing the size, you can calculate, .
