In October I changed my iPhone 6s Plus to iPhone 7 Plus. It was a purchase of a real gadget lover, but the “seven” is definitely the best iPhone in my life. But even the iPhone 7 Plus has its downsides. Two of them are incurable, five are exclusive: most likely, they are observed only in my copy, but I see no reason to return the phone because of strange glitches.

1. Deadly low charging speed. With the iPhone 6s Plus, it was easy: you insert a cord connected to the adapter from the iPad into it, and the process takes not three hours, but two. For some reason, this number does not work with the iPhone 7. Rather, the speed is the same, but there is a risk to health: the gadget heats up to the temperature at which the inhabitants of Pompeii scrambled with might and main from the city.

You have to charge the original adapter and wait 3.5 hours. In a nearby outlet, as a rule, an Android device is powered by energy, and for some reason (there is the same capacity - 3000 mAh) it takes 70-80 minutes to go from 0% to 100%.

The saddest thing is that the great iPhone 4s was able to charge in an hour without any overheating. And not only does it take more than three hours to charge, but external batteries also become almost useless: you just get tired of carrying this box with you, waiting for a miserable 10-15% to overflow. On a train or plane, this is easier, but if recharging is suddenly required where you need to move, then it’s more logical to plug your iPhone into a power outlet and hope that it won’t be stolen.

2. Completely idiotic phone design. Yes, the iPhone has become much louder, but why as soon as I move the slider slightly past the middle, the screen starts to vibrate and tremble?

Obviously, it is affected by the power of the two speakers. I inform you: using an iPhone with thundering music is decidedly inconvenient. Apple leaves you with a choice: either turn up the volume, put the phone on the table and dance, or keep the slider below the middle and pretend that there is still only one modest speaker in the case.

3. Mysterious notification menu glitch. Periodically (I caught it, but there is no pattern), when you open the top menu with the iPhone screen, terrible things happen. Flashing light stripes now fill the entire space, then neatly fit in the middle, then expand to a third of the screen and interfere with the perception of information. How it looks - in the photo below (on the right there is a slight blur, do not be alarmed). Nothing like this has ever been seen on any other menu.

4. Problem with the accelerometer. Like all normal people, the first thing I do after turning on a new phone is to put an end to the automatic change of orientation: there is nothing more inconvenient than adjusting to the accelerometer while lying on the couch. But sometimes the horizontal mode is still needed: for example, when watching a video where there is no magic “full screen” button.

Naturally, after the session, I immediately cut down the unfortunate auto-change of orientation, but that was not the case: it haunts me even when it is turned off. That is, the accelerometer is officially on vacation, but for some reason it continues to flip the screen.

I don’t know how to explain this, but only locking and unlocking the phone helps. The effect lasts about two hours after saying goodbye to the accelerometer.

5. Key failure. Three times in three months I fixed an infinitely shameful glitch: the screen works, but there is no button. It's hard without buttons: you can't lock your phone, change the volume, or minimize the app. Only a “reset” (Power key + volume change button) helped to escape from such muck, but every time I lost precious time and no less precious charging percentages.

6. Zero stability. You can calmly use your iPhone, and then r-r-time! - and the screen goes blank, and the waiting wheel is spinning on a black background. Next is the original desktop. That app you were just on has been slammed shut. I confess that before the update to iOS 10.1, this happened almost once every three days. Now (iOS 10.2) - once every couple of weeks.

7. Weak connector. I hated the 3.5mm hole for the fact that very often there was noise when turning the plug, or the sound disappeared altogether.

There was no such thing with the lightning input for a long time, but in recent weeks there has been another problem: you plug in a headset, it does not work, you turn the cable over, insert it the other way, and the music plays wonderfully into both headphones. Just a week ago, my wife and I decided to buy an iPhone Xs Max for 256 Gb each. We bought the first gold-colored phone in the Svyaznoy mobile phone store, and I went to MVideo to get a silver one. Already standing at the point of issue of goods, the seller and I decided to check the contents of the iPhone box, and when I removed the protective film and opened the box, there was dust under the envelope on the black front surface of the screen, which seemed surprising to me, because for such money the phone should actually be in vacuum, tightly isolated from the environment.

But no one even looked there, they said that I was finding fault and offered to hand over the phone for a quality check for up to 21 days. Of course, I refused, then they offered me to go to an authorized Apple service center, so that they could solve all the issues on the spot so as not to wait 21 days ...

Problem

The frames of the device case and the edges of the rear glass cover of the device, the edges of the display protrude significantly and are tactilely felt when in contact with them. The gaps between the body and the rear glass cover have been enlarged.

Of course, I had questions and doubts about the IP68 stated in it - this is very high level protection against the penetration of small particles and liquids, and here one does not stick to the other. In turn, the gold version was perfectly assembled and felt solid, without any doubts at the slightest inspection, like the previous "ten". I had a similar experience, as well as reviews of hundreds of people affected by such defects on various forums, news resources. There were cases when the phone came out of the box with a loose-fitting display, “crunchy” and making various sounds when pressed in the corners of the screen. It's been worse, but that's not the point now.

Apple Conclusion

Since the defect cannot be repaired, I counted on an exchange. In general, I called Apple and asked for clarification on this situation, describing the defects in great detail, I was asked to drive 100 km to an authorized service center and run diagnostics in order to confirm the presence of a marriage again, but from the company's side. After an hour-long inspection of a defective phone, I received a denial of warranty service and this paper….

…which states that the defect is cosmetic and is not covered by the warranty! Yes, here tactilely and obviously there is a marriage of the case, but in the terms of the warranty, Apple clearly registered such cases, thereby protecting and protecting itself. Wait, what about us? What should we do in such cases? Do you propose to loyal fans, due to whom the "apple" corporation thrives, to enjoy the negative operating experience?

To these questions in the service center, I was offered to put up with it and put on some kind of cover, well, who doesn’t happen, right? That's bad luck, right? You got one such iPhone out of 100, right? Such Mr. exclusivity ...

Calling Apple

After I “wiped” this spit from my face, there’s no other way to call it, I called Apple technical support again and, after talking with a specialist 10 times, I was transferred to a senior technical specialist, who, in turn, after listening to the whole situation , asked to send a photo of the phone in order to confirm the presence of a defect for the 5th time. I sent her a photo, this is what they told me ....

I understood that the situation had exhausted itself, and now the only way to exchange (mind you not to return, but to exchange) an expensive defective device for a new one and somehow restore justice is to go to court, which I will not do, because the time and resources for it’s not, but I certainly have to write a review and highlight an action of this nature, because there are a lot of such obvious violations of consumer rights. And it is necessary to convey our dissatisfaction to the company. Agree with me, in this price category, the device must justify the cost invested in it.

Outcome

Pay attention to the presence of dust in the box, scratches and crevices on the device, so that in case of marriage you will immediately replace it and in no case activate it until you are sure of the quality of the product.

About Warranty

There is no Apple Store in Russia, and there is also no fourteen-day warranty, according to which I have the right to return and exchange an iPhone if it has a factory defect, regardless of whether it is activated or not, such a luxury is only in Europe. All this is insanely reminiscent of a hopeless interview: both the applicant and the HR manager already know that they are most likely not on the way, but they stubbornly pretend that there is still a chance for continued cooperation.

To buy an iPhone 7, you need to return to the USSR for a while and remember the verb "get it." The best way to get a gadget is to find all the stores where it can be sold and place pre-orders without listening to anyone. Do not even hesitate: absolutely in every network you will be told that the iPhone 7, if it appears in the coming weeks, then only with them. Of course, this is a lie: the iPhone can pop up anywhere.

After making pre-orders, you need to go into active waiting mode and raid the area every evening, going into stores and asking if there are new iPhones. There are definitely chances: you never know, a copy has already been brought, and someone refused to pre-order.

By the way, you should not believe in crazy demand: it was provoked by Apple itself, having brought to Russia only 30 thousand iPhone 7 in the first batch. Alas, the following games are even smaller in volume, so we can only wait and hope. Ugly quality

One would think that the agonizing wait is due to the fact that Apple carefully controls the production of gadgets - the myth of the Cupertino company's perfectionism still lives on. It's time to get frustrated: missing deadlines doesn't correlate with high product quality.

Let's start with the hiss. From time to time it was also encountered on previous iPhones, but here it is not at all difficult to call it: you just need to run a couple of high-quality videos in parallel in two different players. Done - iPhone 7 will delight you with a quiet, but annoying sound. How this could be allowed in a flagship-level device in 2016 is a mystery.

The next complaint is the build quality. Apple added another speaker on top to get stereo sound, but didn't factor that into the design of the phone. Bottom line: if you play music at a volume above 50%, the screen will vibrate and rattle. In words, this effect is not at all scary, but when you encounter it in reality, you get the feeling that you have a Chinese phone from the end of the 2000s in your hands. At least those devices also had crazy speakers that shook everything around.

The third point is the quality of materials. There are no excesses with the standard body colors, production has already been established there. Matte black has only one sin: it collects prints that are only visible from a certain angle. But glossy black, as expected, very quickly loses its presentation.

Apple warns that there is a risk of scratches when worn without a case, but this thesis is not entirely true. The truth sounds like this: scratches will appear without fail. Below, for example, is a two-week old iPhone 7 Jet Black, which was used without a case. The author of the tweet assures that the smartphone did not even fall - it was simply carried in a pocket and placed on various surfaces. There are no rebuttals: it seems that the iPhone 7 is designed for fantastically accurate users.

But there is a fourth problem - marriage, which is silent. The fact is that the new iPhone 7 massively lose the network. This case, of course, is a warranty, so the smartphone will be quickly changed. But here the fact itself is important: people who suddenly lost their connection due to a practically new device regularly contact stores and service centers.

I first saw this news on the page of the entrepreneur Yaroslav Andreev (Elf Merchant), and then I checked with my consultants and sellers if they really bring defective seventh iPhones.
