Where is propolis used? The use of propolis and its treatment, its beneficial properties. Mineral and vitamin composition and amino acids

Content

Natural antibiotic - this is how propolis is called in folk medicine, which, if used correctly, can replace many heavy and dangerous drugs. It speeds up metabolism and wound healing, strengthens the immune system, kills pathogenic microorganisms and is even prescribed for gynecological and urological diseases. The list of medicinal properties of this product is impressive, but how safe is it? What are the contraindications to it and when is it needed?

What is propolis

Bee glue or knot - this is the other name for this beekeeping product. The word "propolis" was formed from the Greek "pro" (front) and "polis" (fortress), which experts interpret as "defense of the fortress", because the bees that produce this substance, it is used to:

  • sealing the hive (covering up the cracks);
  • control of the permeability of the tap hole;
  • honeycomb disinfection;
  • isolation of foreign elements trapped in the hive (up to insects and mice, which are mummified with bee glue).

Propolis is a viscous resinous substance with a dark brown or greenish tint. It is based on sticky substances (phenolic compounds) collected from tree buds in spring and modified by enzymes produced by the bee's body. There are several theories of the exact origin of propolis: the most common is the resinous residue of the 1st phase of digestion of pollen. Physical and organoleptic properties of propolis:

  • The taste is pungent-bitter, astringent.
  • The aroma is persistent, combines the smells of honey, kidney, wax and vanilla, when burning, it is similar to the smell of incense. The aroma weakens over time.
  • The color depends on the wood from which the adhesives were collected: it is always dark, with brown, green, yellow or red hues, over time it becomes almost black.
  • The consistency is soft, viscous, thickens during storage, hardens.
  • Melting temperature - 80-104 degrees Celsius.
  • When boiled, it retains all its medicinal properties.

Composition

Experts have found 16 classes of organic substances in propolis (including more than 100 biologically active compounds), which determine the long list of medicinal properties of this beekeeping product. Schematically, the composition is obtained as follows:

  • 50% - resinous components (these include aromatic acids and their esters, flavonoids);
  • 30% wax;
  • 10% - essential and aromatic oils;
  • 5% - pollen;
  • 5% - other substances (minerals, steroids, sugars, vitamins, quinones, lactones, ketones).

It is easy to understand why the medicinal properties of propolis are so highly valued by doctors, because this product contains almost all trace elements necessary for the human body, minerals (among which calcium is especially highlighted), vitamins A, C, E, group B (B1, B2, AT 6). The most important in the composition of propolis are:

  • flavonoids;
  • amino acids;
  • resin;
  • antibacterial agents (natural antibiotics);
  • chromium, iron, cobalt, copper;
  • enzymes from the secretion of bee glands;
  • organic (benzoic, caffeic, cinnamic) acids;
  • phenols;
  • pectins.

The benefits of propolis

A large number of healing qualities present in propolis have led to the active use of this product in cosmetology and medicine. The full spectrum of its action has not been studied, but in official medicine the following pharmacological properties have been confirmed:

  • antibacterial;
  • antioxidant;
  • antiseptic;
  • immunomodulatory;
  • pain reliever;
  • anti-aging;
  • antiviral;
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • antifungal;
  • wound healing;
  • vasoconstrictor.

The effect of propolis on the human body

Bee glue has the properties of a weak anesthetic, strengthens protective forces the body, increasing resistance to infections, inhibits the growth of cancer cells, destroys and removes toxins from the body. Experts say that there are no bacteria that are resistant to propolis, so it is a unique natural antibiotic that kills pathogenic microorganisms. All these healing properties propolis has found application in official and folk medicine, where it is used in the treatment of:

  • Skin diseases (wounds, eczema, psoriasis, lichen) - the therapeutic effect is based on the removal of tissue edema, stopping the inflammatory process. Additional properties - prevention of decomposition processes on the surfaces of damaged areas of the skin or mucous membranes, stimulation of the regeneration of epidermal cells.
  • Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (dysbiosis, gastritis, colitis, chronic pancreatitis) - through the suppression of the activity of pathogens (disinfection), the severity of gastritis, peptic ulcer, dysbiosis decreases, and the sorbing components remove toxins.
  • Dental problems - bleeding gums and previous surgical interventions require the use of the vasoconstrictor properties of propolis. In addition, it helps to lengthen the duration of the action of local anesthetics.
  • Gynecological, urological problems: prostatitis, fibroids and erosion of the uterus - the disinfecting and regenerative properties of bee glue help to cope with them.
  • Viral, bacterial infections (ARVI, ARI, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, otitis media) - the therapeutic effect of propolis in this situation is based on immunostimulating, antiviral or antibacterial properties. Additionally, it helps to get rid of the inflammatory process.

Propolis application

Due to the long list of medicinal properties, bee glue has gained popularity in official and folk medicine, has become the basis for a whole list of medicines. O n is used internally and externally in pure form And How:

External use: the resulting liquid is used to wipe the armpits in the morning and evening after a shower. Treatment is carried out until the problem is eliminated.

With diseases of the gastrointestinal tract

Bacterial infections, gastritis, colitis, peptic ulcer disease can be cured by adding regular intake of home remedies with bee glue to the main therapeutic regimen. Its main medicinal properties are the reduction of intestinal spasticity, disinfection, and normalization of the stool. The pure product is infused in 95% alcohol (mixing 1: 5) for 2 days, then diluted with cool water (3:10). Drink, diluting 1 tsp. means in a glass of warm milk or water an hour before a meal 3 r / day. Treatment lasts 10-20 days, and for ulcers - 2 months.

For gynecological diseases

For the treatment of vaginosis, candidiasis, fibroids and erosion of the cervix, endometriosis, colpitis, local use of propolis-based products is recommended. There are fewer contraindications to them than to tinctures and decoctions for internal use. The main dosage forms used in gynecology:

  • suppositories;
  • ointments;
  • solutions for douching and tampons.

Remember that before using any of the products, washing is required, and for douching and tampons, alcohol tincture is taken at a weak concentration (3%), or an aqueous solution is used. For suppositories and ointments, the application details are indicated in the instructions included in the package. Tinctures and solutions are used as follows:

  • For douching, dilute 1 tbsp. l. in half a glass of water at room temperature, the procedure is carried out 1 r / day for 2 weeks. For mixed bacterial infections - 10 days.
  • In case of myoma and cervical erosion, a tampon with propolis ointment is inserted into the vagina (or a water-alcohol emulsion is mixed with water 1: 4, the tampon is soaked in this) and left for 12 hours. The course of treatment is 10 days.

With atherosclerosis

The positive effect on blood vessels and blood flow is not the most pronounced healing property of bee glue, but it is significant for the complex fight against atherosclerosis. Used for this honey-garlic-propolis tincture, which is prepared at home and drunk for at least a month. 1. Take both products in equal proportions.
  2. Place in a water bath, wait for the solid component to melt over medium heat.
  3. Stir, pour into a glass container.

The mixture can be used for immunity (eat 1 tsp daily or add to warm milk, tea), apply topically as a basis for vaginal douching (diluted in the same way as tincture with warm water), for inhalation for diseases of the respiratory system, for compresses on sore joints or when you cough on your back. Keep in mind that the strengthening of the healing qualities is accompanied by an increase in the number of contraindications for such a tandem. The duration of treatment should not exceed 2 months.

Alcohol tincture of propolis

All the medicinal properties of this product can be felt by preparing an alcoholic tincture, for which a piece of frozen bee glue (10 g) rub finely and pour in cold water(2-3 l). After 8-10 hours, the floating debris is removed, filtered and the raw materials remaining on the gauze are mixed with 70% alcohol (100 ml). The tincture will be ready in 15 days. According to the specified recipe, a 10% product is released, used:

A remedy is used for conjunctivitis and otitis media - 2 drops / day are buried in 2 drops (diluted in half with water) for 2 weeks, they replace alcohol tincture for diseases of the oral cavity, pharynx, lower respiratory tract (rinsing). You can drink an aqueous extract during an SARS epidemic: dilute 1 tsp. in 50 ml of warm water, take 15 minutes before meals for 3 weeks, 1 time per day.

Oil extract

Exacerbation of gastrointestinal diseases (especially gastritis or peptic ulcer disease), otitis media, extensive burns and ulcers are contraindications for pure alcoholic propolis tincture, therefore it is converted into an oil extract. It is often prepared with sea buckthorn oil to enhance the regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties of the product:

  1. Combine sea buckthorn oil and alcoholic propolis tincture 1: 1.
  2. Warm in a water bath, simmer over medium heat for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Pour into a glass container.
  4. Use internally (dilute 1-2 tsp in a glass of warm water, drink 2-3 r / day before meals) for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and lungs, or externally, instilling 2 drops into the ear canal (for otitis media) or lubricating the skin area lesions in the morning and evening. Treatment is carried out until recovery.

Ointment

Skin diseases and injuries (cracks, calluses, burns), some gynecological (fibroids, erosion), surgical (hemorrhoids), musculoskeletal (sciatica) pathologies are the main indications for the use of propolis ointment, which is prepared in butter, lanolin, petroleum jelly. Create and use step by step:

  1. For 100 g of the fatty component brought to a boil, take 10-20 g of fresh soft bee glue. The amount is determined by the indication for the appointment: 20 g - for mycoses, boils, 15 g - for wounds, ulcers, 10 g - for burns, for gynecological problems, hemorrhoids.
  2. When all the components dissolve and mix, remove the composition from the stove, filter through cheesecloth, and cool.
  3. Use 2-3 p / day. Apply in a thin layer, cover with a cloth if necessary. The duration of treatment is 2-4 weeks.

Contraindications for propolis

Pediatricians advise against giving this product (and any products in which it is present) to children under 3 years of age, since they are highly sensitive to all allergens. This contraindication is relative and does not work if the child does not have a negative reaction to bee products. Long-term use inside is prohibited to persons who have:

  • liver disease (especially in acute form);
  • oncology;
  • alcohol intolerance (applies to alcohol-containing formulations);
  • bronchial asthma of allergic origin.

A contraindication to local and systemic treatment is intolerance to beekeeping products (in addition to allergic reactions, the danger is posed by poor absorption of drugs). Most experts do not consider pregnancy a contraindication to the use of propolis (if there is no alcohol in the composition): it does not harm the fetus, therefore, gynecological and infectious diseases can be treated with its help to women carrying a child.

The medicinal properties of propolis and its use have positively declared themselves among consumers since ancient times. They were treated for many diseases in the area:

  • respiratory system
  • sexual activity
  • heart disease

The manifestation of medicinal signs in the composition allowed people to use it for recreational activities. To be convincing, scientists have provided their research, the following evidence:

  • discovered numerous organic elements that differ in nature in various compounds
  • one half of propolis contains flavonoids, essential oils, aromatic acids, the other half contains aromatic oils and flower
  • there was a place for ketones, steroids, lactones, quinones, natural saccharides
  • special attention can be paid to the vitamin complex with mineral compounds
  • the most beneficial features given by vitamins C, PP, H, B3, tocopherol, pyridoxine, thiamine, riboflavin
  • the benefits of active elements that saturate the human body with iron, silicon, vanadium, fluorine, sulfur, sodium, manganese have been noticed
  • composition is rich in selenium, calcium, chromium, cobalt, strontium, phosphorus, aluminum
    the substance is saturated with components of sodium, titanium, copper, magnesium, potassium, zinc, tin

The product has accumulated various amino acids in its composition, not all of which have the property of self-production. Of the most popular open items:

  • alanine
  • cysteine
  • cystine
  • serine
  • tyrosine and many others

The list of complexes and compounds studied in the product can be continued, but even scientists are not sure of the reliability of the data on the complete information of the complete set. Indispensable substances have made it possible for people to use them for preventive health measures, to reduce suffering from pathologies and chronic diseases.

What are the benefits of the components

What is propolis and how is it useful, sometimes residents of megalopolises ask themselves a question, having difficulty imagining the work of bees, theirs. If we take into account the rich list of components in its composition, one can imagine how widely it is used by professional pharmacists and home healers.

The systematic intake of a remedy useful for the body allows:

  • strengthen immunity

Pain attacks and itching are reduced from the effects of medications with propolis, you will need to apply a bandage to the sore spot, it will relieve purulent formations, and prevent fungi from multiplying.

Only self-medication can harm the patient, abuse of any product will not do good. It is better to use recommendations only from professional specialists who are armed with a laboratory and a real examination.

The composition of propolis - on the video:

This is bee glue, i.e. a substance produced by worker bees.

Propolis performs certain functions in the hive:

    closes the cracks;

    if necessary, closes the entrance - a taphole;

    closes the honeycomb with "caps" -;

    disinfects cells, maintains sterility in the hive;

    envelops foreign, potentially dangerous objects that fall into the hive.

Propolis is capable of sticking particles together, because bees create it from sticky substances collected in spring from the buds of black poplar, alder, warty birch, aspen and other trees. Insects additionally process this "harvest" with their own enzymes. Scientists still cannot accurately establish the mechanism for the production of propolis.

Bee glue has a very complex chemical composition... It includes 16 classes of organic substances! Perhaps this is the reason for such a variety of properties of this beekeeping product. It consists of various resins, oils, alcohols, proteins, as well as wax, pollen, vitamins, sugar and other ingredients.

Propolis is an unusual substance in its preparation method, composition, and has extraordinary properties.

Useful and medicinal properties of propolis

Propolis is a poorly studied substance, so the whole spectrum of its action has not yet been clarified.

Propolis has the following beneficial properties:

    Disinfectants

    Antibacterial

    Antitoxic

    Anti-inflammatory

    Thermoplastic

    Antioxidant

    Immunomodulating

Disinfection - the destruction of infectious agents and the destruction of toxins. Propolis inhibits activity and kills bacteria and viruses, slows down the growth of some of them. In addition, this honey product neutralizes the poisons that decaying cells release, accelerates the processes of regeneration and healing. There is a debate about the anesthetic effect of bee glue. There is no scientific confirmation of this effect yet.

Propolis has a unique quality - even after processing at high temperatures, it does not change its properties. This allows the manufacture of a wide variety of propolis-containing products. The tincture always contains alcohol, and is called so because it is infused, "soaked" without heating for some time. Propolis is difficult to use in its original form, because it is quite dense and only becomes soft when heated. Only alcohol-containing solutions can "soak" it. They allow you to achieve maximum extraction of nutrients.

What does propolis tincture treat?

This drug is taken to treat various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, skin, respiratory tract, circulatory and genitourinary systems and more. This is the versatility of propolis.

A miraculous natural remedy heals almost any disease, has a beneficial general strengthening effect on the entire body. Any ailment is caused by a malfunction in the body, which can occur due to the ingress of harmful substances from the outside or internal disturbances.

Propolis tincture treats almost all types of diseases, including those caused by:

    physical reasons - trauma,. It accelerates the regeneration processes, prevents the onset of the inflammatory process, and prevents infection.

    chemical - poisoning. Removes toxins from the body.

    biological - infectious diseases. Kills harmful microorganisms, promotes their removal.

    social - chronic fatigue, alcoholism, drug addiction. Supports the body with a complex of minerals and vitamins, removes toxic substances.

  • How to chew propolis properly?

    It is important to respect the dosage. This is usually a few grams per day, but they cannot be taken immediately. You need to start with a drop, carefully monitoring your well-being. The procedure should last no more than 20 minutes, otherwise the mucous membranes of the oral cavity can be burned. For some diseases, it is allowed to repeat it several times during the day, and with sore throat, even all day long. We must not forget, however, that jokes are bad with this potent remedy.

    After a few weeks of such procedures, diseases and teeth should disappear. During pregnancy, the dosage should be reduced to 1-2 g every other day. Children should be tested for an allergic reaction before taking propolis. It can be done at home. A small piece of propolis is briefly applied to the inside of the elbow bend. If there is no redness or itching, too.

    Chew propolis a little correctly, not forgetting about the danger of allergies.

    There are many recipes for preparing propolis compositions, but there is no organization that would issue them a safety certificate. Even if the recipe is correct and effective, no one can vouch for the quality of the ingredients that ordinary people use. It is important not to be lazy and cleanse propolis from unnecessary impurities before making medicinal product... This will stretch the cooking procedure, but it will improve the quality of the final product. Pure bee glue is softer.

    For steaming, add a teaspoon of tincture to hot water. The duration of the procedure is 10 minutes. Better to do it before bedtime. Then generously grease your fingers with propolis oil (mix antiseptic essential oil with tincture) and apply a thick layer of natural propolis to your nails. The key to success in the fight against fungus will be hygiene. Socks need to be changed daily, shoes can also be treated with propolis extracts.

    Fungi are very tenacious, sometimes sick people cannot cope with this infection for several years. Bee glue becomes a salvation for them.

    Treatment of Helicobacter with propolis

    Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that attacks the stomach and duodenum. It can accompany ulcers, atrophic gastritis, malt and other diseases. Propolis helps to relieve the feeling of heaviness in the abdomen, heartburn, belching, nausea and vomiting. The methods of its use are the same as for ulcers and gastritis. First of all, this is propolis milk containing at least 5 (for children) or 10 (for adults) drops of tincture. The healing effect is increased when honey and lemon are added to the drink.

    Also, a method for getting rid of Helicobacter pylori has been developed, consisting in the combined intake of an aqueous extract, propolis oil and Omeprazole for 2-3 weeks.

    The effectiveness of the use of 100-150 ml of a 30% aqueous solution twice a day has been experimentally proven. The duration of the course does not exceed 14 days.

    The success of using honey products even against such a strong bacterium as Helicobacter pylori once again confirms that propolis has unique antimicrobial properties.

    This is an inflammation of the pancreas, for getting rid of which the anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial qualities of bee glue, its fortified composition are very useful.

    Half a teaspoon of the alcoholic composition is dissolved with half a glass of boiled water, they are drunk little by little, in the mornings and evenings, half an hour before meals. The integrity of the mucous membranes of the gland is gradually restored, the regeneration process is accelerated. Also shown are propolis honey (diluted with a tablespoon of milk) or milk for the night, chewing natural bee glue or propolis honeycomb (a beeswax is a special wax that bees use to cover the honeycomb) before eating, an aqueous extract with herbal solutions twice a day.

    It is best to consume honey products before meals to prevent food rejection. Otherwise, the damaged organ interferes with digestion, causes nausea, and other unpleasant phenomena.

    Maxillitis is an inflammatory process in the sinuses that occurs in the complicated course of some infectious diseases. Propolis for therapy can be taken not only orally, but also locally. It stops infection and inflammation, relieves swelling of the mucous membranes. Sinusitis causes oxygen deprivation. prevent breathing through the nose. This manifests itself in various ailments, one of which is. Honey products help the patient to sleep peacefully, and also tone up the body.

    Tincture, ointment, drops, oil, solutions for inhalations and lotions are used. This method of treatment is interesting: 2 cotton buds dipped first in propolis tincture, then in vegetable oil, inserted into the nostrils four times a day for half an hour. In no case should you overexpose, otherwise you can burn the mucous membranes.

    In the treatment of various liver diseases, bee glue has a powerful anti-inflammatory and antitoxic effect.

Nature is arranged very wisely - a person could do without pharmacological preparations for a long time, maintaining and restoring his health solely by what Mother Earth gave him.

All kinds of herbs, roots and other natural substances coped with the most difficult viruses and bacteria, relieved fever, and helped with fever and intestinal disorders.

One of these "storehouse of health" is propolis - a natural substance, not only rich in vitamins and minerals to support life, but also has truly magical medicinal properties.

What is propolis? Short Course in Natural Science

A natural product of beekeeping, which is called bee glue or propolis, is a kind of resinous sticky substance that is obtained by mixing beeswax and saliva with the natural juice of natural sources - trees, leaves, flowers, buds, etc. Propolis is used by insects as a kind of putty, with which they fill up all the cracks and holes in their hive, making it less susceptible to winds and temperature changes.

However, recent research in the field of beekeeping has shown that bees survive well in hives unprotected with propolis during the winter. So why do insects need this life-giving substance? The answer lies in the antibacterial and protective properties of the substance:

  1. Bee glue prevents pathogens from entering the hive, inhibits fungal growth and disinfects surfaces.
  2. Although bees are extremely clean, they are not always able to completely clean their hive. The corpses of small rodents, accidentally trapped in the hive, they hermetically pack in a kind of cocoon of propolis, thereby preventing decay processes. As a result, the decomposing body is simply mummified and will not become an object of infection and an unpleasant odor inside the hive.
  3. Naturally, the adhesive structure strengthens the foundation of the hive, reduces vibration and makes it more durable.

Most often, propolis is yellow-brown in color, but this characteristic can vary depending on the natural component. So, there is bee glue of dark red, black, milky and even green shades. Only one thing remains unchanged - its unique composition. Mainly propolis is a combination of the following ingredients:

  • natural resins;
  • wax;
  • vegetable balms;
  • pollen;
  • essential oils;
  • lipophilic acaricide.

Under normal conditions, the physical properties of propolis remain unchanged: it is a viscous sticky mass. However, it hardens quickly at low temperatures, after which it can be cut or broken into small pieces for storage.

Properties of propolis. Composition

An unsurpassed doctor, the whole pharmacy in one bottle, a home doctor ... As soon as people call bee glue! And all thanks to the unique composition, which is the guarantor of its healing abilities. Depending on the characteristics of insects and their place of residence, propolis can include about 50 different components, however, the amount of vitamins, mineral complexes and other useful ingredients remains unchanged high level... This medicinal product contains:

  • provitamin A;
  • vitamins of group B, C, E;
  • manganese;
  • iron;
  • silicon;
  • zinc;
  • calcium;
  • phosphorus;
  • magnesium;
  • amino acids;
  • organic acids (coumaric, caffeic, cinnamic);
  • a nicotinic acid;
  • benzoic acid;
  • flavonoids.

It is thanks to such a balanced natural composition that propolis has medicinal properties that are simply unique: it is used as an immunomodulatory, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiviral agent, it is considered one of the best medicines for many ailments and helps to cope with vitamin deficiency and loss of strength.

Propolis: medicinal properties

The medicinal capabilities of bee glue have found their application not only in alternative medicine - this substance is recommended by many clinical doctors: gynecologists, otorhinolaryngologists, dermatologists, pediatricians, etc. Such versatility and popularity of this substance in medicine has a simple explanation: the health benefits of propolis are truly invaluable. This effect is achieved through a combination of the following properties:

  • anti-toxic,
  • antibacterial,
  • dermatoplastic,
  • anti-inflammatory,
  • wound healing,
  • disinfectant,
  • immunomodulatory,
  • protective,
  • antioxidant.

Propolis in pure form or as an aqueous tincture has a tonic and tonic effect. It is able to relieve fatigue, stimulate energy production and, as it were, awaken a "second wind". In addition, many studies confirm that the regular use of bee glue in any available form significantly reduces the first signs of aging in the body, improves metabolism and maintains the body in good shape, despite the passport age. This effect is provided by numerous antioxidants that protect against harmful environmental influences, cleanse the body of toxins and toxins and awaken internal reserves. A rich vitamin cocktail complements the anti-aging effect.

In addition, propolis significantly reduces the severity of stress, has a calming effect and suppresses the level of anxiety. Thanks to this, a person can more easily endure stressful situations, cope with unexpected outbursts of emotions and control their impulses. And since most diseases are somehow associated with shattered nervous system, this effect is really valuable, especially for residents of modern megalopolises, most of whose everyday life is spent in psychological stress.

Propolis, the use of which is especially important in the season of morbidity, copes well with the destruction of pathogenic bacteria, among which are:

  • influenza virus,
  • herpes virus,
  • tubercle bacillus,
  • Candida,
  • fungi and yeast,
  • varicella-zoster virus, etc.

At the same time, unlike pharmacological antibiotics, only pathogenic viruses and bacteria fall under the influence of propolis - nothing threatens the microorganisms that form the normal human microflora. This means that after treatment with bee glue, dysbacteriosis and other problems associated with the violation of microflora, you are not threatened.

Despite the fact that the composition of propolis differs depending on the area, its antiviral and antibacterial properties remain at a consistently high level. This activity is achieved due to the high percentage of flavonoids, which are considered one of the best natural remedies for colds and flu. And although propolis is considered to be a medicine, there will be no harm if used for prophylactic purposes, especially at the peak of morbidity - this way you can save yourself from unpleasant symptoms and maintain health and vigor.

Who is not destined to be treated with bee glue? List of contraindications

Thinking about who and how to take propolis, it will be useful to familiarize yourself with the list of restrictions concerning this "home doctor". This substance has a natural natural formula, which means that it has a safe and non-toxic composition, but there are exceptions to any rule: do not discount the individual characteristics of each person.

In what cases will you have to give up propolis?

  1. For allergic reactions to bee products, coniferous extracts, poplar fluff and pollen from flowering plants. In one concentration or another, all these substances can be part of bee glue, which means they can cause hypersensitivity in an allergic person.
  2. With poor blood clotting, as well as before surgery. Propolis can slow down the formation of platelets and, as a result, blood clotting. With an initially low SC rate, it is better not to take risks, especially on the eve of operations - it would be reasonable to abandon propolis, replacing it with other useful products of natural origin.
  3. During lactation (if the baby is allergic). If a child is prone to allergic reactions from birth, bee glue will have to be abandoned during feeding so as not to provoke additional exacerbations in the baby.

That, perhaps, is all that should be taken into account before using this medicinal product. Evaluating propolis, the medicinal properties and contraindications of which cannot be compared, we can conclude that this remedy is a unique healer, in most cases bringing only one benefit to the body.

Propolis: application

Knowing the beneficial properties of bee glue, it is easy to assume that its use is recommended for many diseases. Indeed, in addition to the expected colds, the use of propolis is indicated in the presence of the following diagnoses:

  1. Arterial hypertension. The extracts that make up this beekeeping product suppress the production of a special enzyme and thereby lower blood pressure.
  2. Stomach ulcer. Since propolis has a wound-healing and anti-inflammatory effect, when it enters the stomach, it soothes the mucous membrane, relieves unpleasant symptoms and promotes the speedy healing of ulcers.
  3. Diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Caffeic acid, which is found in excess in bee glue, inhibits the process of destruction of bone tissue, restores its density and increases resistance to external influences.
  4. Allergic reactions. The substances contained in the bee "medicine" act as antihistamines, suppressing the symptoms of allergies.
  5. Food poisoning... Propolis is able to quickly and delicately cleanse the body of toxins that caused poisoning, relieve symptoms of intoxication and restore normal microflora.
  6. Skin defects: ulcers, warts, burns, fungus, etc. Bee glue cleanses the skin, restores its integrity and promotes fast healing even the most serious damage.
  7. Gynecological abnormalities: thrush, vaginal herpes, endometriosis, etc. Propolis in ointments or suppositories is effective remedy against "female" diseases of an infectious and inflammatory nature. Moreover, the substance is safe even during pregnancy (in the absence of contraindications).

This list is not complete, since propolis will be useful in one way or another for almost all diseases. It is prescribed as an adjunct therapy for diabetes, hepatitis and even oncology.

How to take propolis?

You can use propolis as you like - make water and oil tinctures, ointments, creams, and even chew in its pure form like chewing gum. However, the most convenient form for patients of all ages is still considered to be an aqueous tincture. To prepare it, it is enough to chop with a knife a small amount of bee product and boil it in a water bath for 10 minutes, after adding ½ cup of boiled water.

The preparation of propolis oil is just as easy. Grinding 50 g of propolis in the same way, mix it with 300 g of melted butter and, slightly warming up in a water bath, stir the product until the wax settles at the bottom. Thus, the healing components will get into the oil, and the wax will not interfere with application to the skin. This composition can be used as an ointment in the presence of skin diseases, cracks, ulcers and eczema, taken orally for stomach problems and rubbed into painful areas.

Let's sum up: the benefits of propolis for the body

Propolis is a substance unique in its composition and healing effect, which simply has no equal in nature. Using it as a medicine or prophylactic agent, you can preserve and increase health, postpone old age on the back burner, remain strong, calm and balanced in any stressful situation, be full of energy and strength even after a tiring day at work and never get to know depression. No pill in the world can replace this source of longevity and prosperity from bees. Therefore, you should not run to the pharmacy at the first signs of an illness - everything that is necessary for recovery has already been donated by nature, it remains only to properly dispose of this gift.

The chemical composition of propolis is complex and depends on the species composition of plants, the physiological state of bees, the season and other factors. The chemical composition of propolis for a long time remained almost unknown, which made it possible at first to believe that propolis does not have a "permanent formula".

A total of 16 classes of organic substances were found in propolis. Among the biologically active compounds of propolis, of which more than 100 have now been identified, an important role belongs to low molecular weight cyclic substances: polyphenols, alcohols, aldehydes, etc. ( Apitherapy: beekeeping products in the world of medicine. / Omarov Sh.M. - Rostov n / a: Phoenix, 2009 .-- 351 p.)

So far identified in propolis more than 200 connections. When analyzing samples from England in one of them, it was possible to find simultaneously 150 connections. (Apitherapy. / Khismatullina N.3. - Perm: Mobile, 2005 .-- 296 p.) For the performance of the protective function of propolis, it is the multiplicity that is considered important, providing joint effective action.

Below are data on the chemical composition of propolis from several sources.

2 The chemical composition of propolis according to the book "Medicines from the beehive"

2.1 Components of propolis

Approximately 50-60% propolis consists of from resins and pollen balsam. Bees add to them about 30% wax. These main ingredients give propolis its spreadable consistency. What substances, besides wood resins and wax, are part of propolis, has not been fully clarified to date. During research, more and more new components of propolis are found every now and then, among which there are even natural antibiotic substances, the existence of which was previously unknown.

2.2 Vital substances of propolis

The content of vital substances in propolis fluctuates, but they are represented in it in a wide variety. Microelements are of particular importance (general information about trace elements can be found on the page chemical composition of honey). Propolis contains almost all the trace elements that a person needs, such as chromium, iron, cobalt, copper, nickel, silicon, strontium, titanium, vanadium, zinc and tin. Of the minerals that humans need in much larger quantities, calcium is primarily present in propolis. Various vitamins (general information about vitamins can be found on the page chemical composition of honey) also found in propolis, among them, first of all, some vitamins of group B, vitamins E, H and P. The content of vital substances in propolis is partly due to the presence of pollen in it, which is up to 5%.

2.3 Enzymes (enzymes) of propolis

(A general description of enzymes can be found on the page chemical composition of honey). Propolis also contains various enzymes. Their presence in propolis is not as important as in other beekeeping products, but they also influence its properties to a certain extent. In part, the enzymes come from the secretions of the bee glands, which are mixed with the resin. To this are added pollen enzymes, which are present in propolis. But the trees from which the resin is collected also supply it with enzymes.

2.4 Natural antibiotics of propolis

Flavonoids are of great therapeutic value (general information about flavonoids can be found on the page the chemical composition of honey)... These are natural substances that are blue, red, yellow, orange or black dyes that determine the color of plants and their parts (especially their flowers and fruits). Today it is known that from the flavonoids contained in propolis you can expect the following effects on the human body:

  • soothing pain much stronger than from cocaine or novocaine, and arising as in acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) due to the suppression of prostaglandins (vital endogenous substances that perform various biochemical tasks);
  • accelerated wound healing, which can also be explained by the suppression of prostaglandins;
  • neutralization of heavy metals in the body and the breakdown of carcinogenic tar that enters the body from the environment and through smoking;
  • activation of the thymus playing an important role in the immune system organism, and phagocytes, fighting against pathogens;
  • preventing the reproduction of viruses, also occurring due to the suppression of prostaglandins.

3 The chemical composition of propolis according to the book: "How to cure a child with honey"

Propolis contains 40-55% of various resins, about 30% wax substances, 6% balms, 4-10% essential oils, 5-10% pollen, a few percent tannins and mechanical impurities. The composition of propolis includes cinnamon alkagol, vanillin, acacetin, quercetin, galangin, caffeic acid, chrysan- natural dye. Propolis contains 8 amino acids, 3 of which are irreplaceable, trace elements - aluminum, boron, K, Ca, Mg, Cu, Zn and etc.

Flavonoids ( a general description of flavonoids can be found on the page chemical composition of honey), flavones, flavonolams, phenol carboxylic acids, oxycoumarin, furolic and benzoic acids. Presumably, they work in a complex in the human body.

Ferulic and benzoic acids also has an antibacterial effect. In combination with other components, they impart bactericidal and bacteriostatic properties to propolis.

4 The chemical composition of propolis according to the book: "Apitherapy"

On average, propolis consists of 50% resinous components(flavonoids, aromatic acids and their esters), 30% wax (fatty acids, alcohols and their esters), 10% essential and aromatic oils, 5% pollen(free amino acids and proteins) and 5% other substances(minerals, ketones, lactones, quinones, steroids, vitamins and sugars).

In Russia, S. A. Popravko and I. V. Sokolov (1975, 1980) established that the main sources of propolis are resinous discharge from birch buds(Betula verrucosa) and poplar (Populos tremolos). Propolis from birch buds characterized by an increased content of flavonoids (15 compounds) and terpene a-acetoxybetulenol (a general description of terpenes can be found on the page on the chemical composition of the bee pollen). Propolis from aspen buds has a low content of flavonoids. Qualitatively the flavonoid spectrum is represented by 5 compounds: apigenin, acacetin, kaempferol, kaempferide and ermanine. The characteristic group of aspen propolis is esters of unsaturated aromatic acids ( ferulic, benzoic, coumaric and etc.).

Propolis contains minerals: calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, iron, zinc, manganese, copper, cobalt, phosphorus, sulfur, antimony, aluminum, selenium and fluorine. Found in it vitamins: B, B2, B6, C, E and A.

The composition also includes amino acids: alanine, P-alanine, and (8) -aminobutyric acid, arginine, asparagine, aspartic acid, valine, hydroxyproline, histidine, glycine, glutamic acid, isoleucine, lysine, leucine, methionine, ornithine, pyroglutamic acid , proline, sarcosine, seria, tyrosine, threonine, tryptophan, phenylalanine, cystine and cysteine. Many of them are irreplaceable for humans.
